Star centre fielder Kevin Pillar joins Samsung team this season as brand ambassador

Toronto, CANADA, – April 24, 2017 – Samsung Electronics Canada, Inc. is proud to step to the plate once again through its partnership with Sportsnet that continues to  get Toronto Blue Jays fans across the country closer to the game. The two-year deal, which kicked off during the 2016 season, sees Samsung Canada as a proud Premier Partner of the Toronto Blue Jays, helping to deliver new experiences to fans in-stadium, online, and on Sportsnet.

 

“We’re proud to lead off this season with the Blue Jays and Kevin Pillar, and are excited to deliver immersive experiences through our latest technology and innovation that will bring fans closer to the action,” said Mark Childs, Chief Marketing Officer, Samsung Canada.

 

Rounding out the lineup, Blue Jays centre fielder and Gold Glove finalist Kevin Pillar joins the Samsung team this season as brand ambassador.  In addition to taking part in a special Samsung event, Pillar will also be featured in exclusive Samsung content. This season, fans can experience a new perspective on the game, thanks to a behind-the-scenes Samsung Gear VR experience captured on the Gear 360.

 

Samsung will continue to be the official 4K sponsor of Blue Jays baseball broadcasts on Sportsnet, putting fans in the action with every one of the 81 home games broadcast in stunning detail. Samsung technology and branding will also continue to be integrated into the in-stadium experience, as well as within the Samsung Broadcast Studio.

 

New this year on Sportsnet, fans will experience a Play Under Review feature, powered by the Samsung QLED TV. Shot with a super slo-mo camera, the feature will bring fans never-before-seen immersive details and truer-to-life colours on game-changing plays.  A new Radio Frequency (RF) handheld camera feature, brought to life with the Samsung Galaxy S8, will let fans get closer from a behind-the-scenes perspective after every home run.
