Samsung Electronics Canada Recognized as one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People

Samsung Electronics Canada has been selected as one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People. This annual selection recognizes employers who offer the best workplaces and programs for youth starting their careers, evaluating the programs and initiatives these companies offer to attract and retain young talent.
 
A variety of Samsung Canada initiatives stood out, including:
 
• The Samsung Canada Solve for Tomorrow Challenge, a national educational initiative for Canadian students from grades six to 10 who apply STEM learning to solve issues in their communities. The challenge provides winning schools with Samsung technology grants (four grand prizes of $20,000 each).
 
• Partnerships Samsung Canada holds with post-secondary institutions on a number of different initiatives, including work with Vancouver Community College to create a Samsung Tech Institute Home Appliance certification course and with Centennial College’s Mobile Application Development program
 
• Co-op students at Samsung Canada take on the challenge of competing to create a proposal that increases brand awareness for a Samsung product in storefronts. As part of the challenge, they present their proposals to the organization’s leadership team. Winning teams receive prizes, such as Samsung products, and may even see their ideas implemented.

Samsung Canada employs between 501 and 750 Canadians across the country, with offices located in Burnaby and Vancouver, British Columbia and in Mississauga and Toronto, Ontario.
