[Design Story] 2015 Design.Samsung Idea Festival Seeking ‘Designs For All’
Samsung.Design is looking for your ideas on Accessible, Considerate Technology.
Ideas for products, UI/UX, services and spatial designs that improve the accessibility of technology while creating a meaningful design experience are all in demand as part of the 2015 Design.Samsung Idea Festival, with big cash prizes available to those who present the best ideas.
This year’s theme is “Designed for All,” inspired by the idea that design will bridge the gap between our lives and advanced technology. The festival is seeking ideas that are creative and aesthetically pleasing and also provide benefits for people of all ages, including those with sensory, strength, communication and movement disabilities. The participant with the winning design will receive the grand prize – 10 million Korean won.
Anyone can participate in the general category either as an individual or in a group of up to four people. Students currently enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program longer than 2 years, either domestically or abroad, can also participate as an individual or a group of up to four people in the student category. Military personnel are also eligible to participate.
The registration period is from August 17 to 31. The eight finalists (four from the general category, four from the student category) will be announced on September 7. All eight finalists will participate in the Design.Samsung Idea Festival exhibition. The final prize winners and exhibition will be announced in October.
The finalists will receive three weeks of guidance and mentoring from a professional expert. In addition to the grand prize, second place will receive 5 million won and the remaining finalists will each receive a 1 million won prize. In addition, the leading Internet vote-getter will receive a 2 million won prize.
