5 Things you might have not known: Galaxy Note 4, Gear VR and more
With the recent releases of so many new Samsung devices, it’s possible that the pure awesomeness could lead to information overload. As a public service, we’re here to remind you some of the semi-inconspicuous facts about the new devices.
1. Galaxy Note 4 – 0 to 50 in 30
When Galaxy Note 4 was announced, it nonchalantly introduced a feature called ‘Fast Charging’. This allows Galaxy Note 4’s battery to be charged about 30% faster, which obviously is a significant upgrade.
To put this in to perspective, it only takes about half an hour for Galaxy Note 4’s battery to go from 0% to 50%! Moreover, considering that Galaxy Note 4 also features the Ultra Power Saving Mode, you rarely need to worry about battery when you need it the most with the Galaxy Note 4.
2. Galaxy Note Edge – Quad HD Super AMOLED to the Edge
Galaxy Note Edge technically has an additional curved display at the edge of the device called the Edge Screen. Just because it allows the Galaxy Note Edge to provide functionalities that no other smartphone can, does not mean it sacrifices quality. The resolution of the display for Galaxy Note Edge is the same throughout the whole display, curved or flat!
By the way, we are talking Quad HD (2560×1440) Super AMOLED display here, the same display as the Galaxy Note 4. Displaymate, which is internationally recognized for its thorough diagnostics for display performance, said, “the Galaxy Note 4 is the Best performing Smartphone display that we have ever tested.”
Moreover, the UI of the screen can flip upside down, so both right- and left-handed users can conveniently take advantage of the Edge screen features.
3. Gear VR – Where is the battery?
If you were fortunate enough to be in Berlin for IFA 2014, you might have had the opportunity to try out the Gear VR at the Samsung booth. And if you did, you will probably agree that Gear VR is quite a fascinating device. The fact that you can enjoy the full 360 3D video is enough to get excited about.
However, did you know that Gear VR does not require a battery?
That is right. Gear VR does not require a battery for operation. All you need to do is attach the Galaxy Note 4, and you are good to escape into virtual reality!
4. Gear S –Strap up for SuperStylin’
Let’s forget for a moment the fact that Gear S can act as a standalone device and last for 2 days for normal users (it also supports the useful Ultra Power Saving Mode).
Actually, the battery cradle for the Gear S has its own 350mAh Li-ion, so as long as you have the cradle with you, you can just charge the Gear S on the spot without having to find a power socket.

Gear S, Samsung 6th wearable device with a 2.0” curved Super AMOLED display worn around the wrist, has got style. Style is important when it is worn around the wrist, because it stays exposed.
The home screen and the strap of the Gear S are changeable to fit your style. Especially when it comes to the strap, we’ve already show you the result of the collaboration between Swarovski and Diesel. It will never run out of style, unless you run out of style.
5. Gear Circle – Text to Voice
Gear Circle is all about convenience. It has been somewhat tedious to receive a call when you are working out and listening to your music through your earphones. Gear Circle makes this process much easier for you by integrating functionalities using Bluetooth technology.

Talking about convenience, the Gear Circle supports the Text to Voice feature. Using Text-to-Speech, it can also read the message aloud instantly when it arrives. From messages to alarms, schedules to app installation, the Gear Circle can notify you with its voice. So there’s no need to continually look down. Feel free to go about your business!
