6 Cool Samsung projects that won at 2014 Clio Awards
If your profession is related to the word ‘brand’, chances are you have heard about the New York Clio Awards, one of the world’s most recognized international award competitions for advertising, design and communications. This year, Samsung won a total of 10 awards in 5 categories, including Audio, Content & Contact, Film Technique, Public Relations, and Direct.
Yes, we might be patting ourselves on the back (just a little bit) as you read this. But the reason we are here is to share some of the winners, because they are actually pretty cool. Check them out.
Launching People – Launching Alfred
This 4 min video tells you the story of a 52-year-old Austrian Hydro-plant worker. The story entails his becoming one of the best mobile photographers in the world with the help of his Samsung Galaxy S3 and his love of India. This story shows how Samsung technology becomes meaningful in the hands of human being and enables people to realize their dreams and passions. The story is genuine and the video is visually stunning.

Earlier this year, we told you about the Power Sleep App that lets you be a part of some pretty advanced scientific research. Samsung collaborated with the University of Vienna for a breakthrough mobile app called Power Sleep. Power Sleep launches a new way to donate even at the time you’re sleeping. It lets people donate small bits of their mobile CPU power, so that a large “super cloud computer” can use that power for scientific research on curing diseases such as cancer or Alzheimer’s. Less than a month ago, we covered a story about Samsung Smart Bike. Samsung Smart Bike is the result of a project led by Samsung Maestros Academy in Italy. The main goal of the Maestros Academy is to launch the next generation of Italian artisans by connecting the digital generation and the Maestros to ensure the prosperity of Italian craftsmanship. For Italy, which is known for its fine craftsmanship yet suffers from a high youth unemployment rate (nearly 50%); Maestros Academy is thought to be an effective way of resolving various social issues.
Australia suffers one of the highest rates of severely injured people because of car accidents especially young drivers. It is an epidemic. Smartphones are considered to be one of the biggest distractions when driving and coincidentally, Australia has one of the highest penetrations of smartphones in the world. However, Samsung has turned smartphones from a distraction to a life-saving device with S-Drive to launch a new generation of safe young drivers.
