Europeans Favor Frodo and Fellows as No.1 Film

With its epic cinematography, the Oscar-winning Lord of the Rings trilogy has received an overwhelming vote of popularity, as the top films that Europeans wish they could have seen at the cinema. Heralding the launch of the world’s first UHD Curved TV, the poll by Samsung* saw Tolkien’s cinematic masterpiece securing not only the first, but also second and third places.

Also popular across Europe were big-budget action adventure films renowned for delivering a total immersive cinematic experience. Blockbusters such as Gladiator (4th), The Matrix (5th), and the Batman films, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, featured prominently in the Top 10. One in four film fans also voted for three epic Tom Hanks dramas – Saving Private Ryan, Forrest Gump and The Green Mile – completing the list of iconic silver screen moments Europeans think are most deserving of the full big screen experience.
