Galaxy S5 Tear Down: Do you See what we see?

While we aren’t here to promote any sort of destructive behavior, we understand that there is something very liberating about tearing down a well-crafted object.  We at Samsung Tomorrow recently got our hands on the image of the deconstructed Galaxy S5. While the team enjoyed the euphoric feeling from seeing the Galaxy S5 inside out, we were able to confirm few characteristics of it as well. Convenience of the Galaxy S5

1. 2,800mAh Battery

The fact that the battery is changeable makes the Galaxy S5 very convenient for everyday use. There is no need to carry around the USB cable or the charger everywhere. However, the battery life might not even be one of your concerns. The Galaxy S5 features the Ultra Power Saving Mode, which shuts down all other unnecessary features but screen switch, voice calls or messages and dramatically minimizes battery consumption. This enables your phone to stay on for 24 hours even after the remaining battery power falls below 10%, ensuring that you do not miss a call. An NFC antenna is also embedded.

2. Finger Scanner

Having to remember passwords is not convenient at all, however, ‘not having’ to is. With the Finger Scanner of the Galaxy S5, you can make secure mobile payments without having to remember or type in passwords you don’t remember. Moreover, the Finger Scanner of the Galaxy S5 provides a biometric screen locking feature by recognizing the user’s fingerprint, to allow user to simply slide his/her finger down on the screen to unlock the smartphone. Users can also lock information on applications such as gallery, video, music, voice recordings with their fingerprints for increased security with ‘Private Mode’ as well.

Samsung has also released a separate SDK, which allows developers to easily design an app that supports the Finger Scanner feature of the Galaxy S5, which is very promising for all the app and device users around the world.

3. Heart Rate Sensor

Heart Rate can help you check your current or workout condition, therefore, it comes handy when you want to stay healthy. With the enhanced S Health 3.0, the new Galaxy S5 offers more tools to help people stay fit and well. It provides a comprehensive personal fitness tracker to help users monitor and manage their behavior, along with additional tools including a pedometer, diet and exercise records, and a new, built-in heart rate monitor. Galaxy S5 users can further customize their experience with an enriched third party app ecosystem and the ability to pair with next generation Gear products for real-time fitness coaching.

4. Bracket

The Samsung Galaxy S5’s thin case has been made impact-resistant with a robust magnesium interior and modularized parts that allow for an optimum internal layout that can accommodate a large number of components.

5. Main Board

To support the IP67 dust and water resistance of the Galaxy S5, the mainboard is finished with Gore-tex and urethane as well.  The mainboard houses more than a thousand components are placed, which represents Samsung’s advanced technology.

6. Back Cover

The back cover with a perforated pattern provides a Modern Glam look, which almost got the back cover under “awesomeness.” But we wanted to show you the rubber lining on the inside, which helps keep dust and water out. Make sure you push down on all the points when you put the back cover back on so the lining can do its job.

7. Charging and Data Port

The Galaxy S5 is compatible with both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 for faster data transmission. A separately provided cover protects the charging and data port and the port itself is made with water-resistance materials, which ensures water- and dust-resistance.

8. Ear Jack

A 3.5mm headphone jack is coated with waterproof material providing extra protection from liquid exposure.

11. Super AMOLED Display

Galaxy S5 features a 5.1” Super AMOLED Display. The display supports various awesome modes. Especially, the ‘Adapt Display’ feature optimizes the display of the Galaxy S5 according to the surrounding light by analyzing incoming lights & content. Additionally, the advanced touchscreen is not only able to sense gloves, but pencils and thin pens as well. Most importantly, it is able to produce more vivid display with the advanced color gamut (the range of colors) and contrast ratio (the range of brightness).

12. 16MP Rear Camera

With the 16MP camera, users can take DSLR level photos and videos, which is awesome. The Galaxy S5 offers the world’s fastest autofocus speed up to 0.3 seconds and the advanced High Dynamic Range (HDR), reproduce natural light and color with striking intensity at any circumstances. Also new Selective Focus feature allows users to focus on a specific area of an object while simultaneously blurring out the background. With this capability, users no longer need a special lens kit to create a shallow depth of field (DOF) effect.

13. 2MP Front Camera

The 2MP Front camera of the Galaxy S5 supports Full HD video, which enables users to enjoy vivid video chatting. It also supports 90 degree optic angle, which is optimized for selfies and wefies.

14. Speaker

The speakers embedded in the GS5 recognize the user’s listening preferences and provide the best possible sound effect during calls and when playing music. In addition, Samsung’s proprietary sound technology SoundAlive promises to deliver the best audio experience.
