The ultra-slim second generation Notebook Series 9 was launched for the first time in the world in South Korea today.

The thinnest laptop in the world featuring the 2nd generation Intel Core i5 processor, the Series 9’s stylish exterior is said to be the result of endless hours, a total of some 33,000 hours (almost enough time to finish college!), toiled away by designers and developers.

SungWoo Nam, President of IT Solutions went as far as to call it a “masterpiece”.  So what makes the Series 9 so special?  Let’s take a look.

At the Media Day Event several Series 9 laptops were on display and it’s hard to describe the sheer compactness of the device without having held it in your hands.  Despite its slimness, little seems to have been sacrificed as the keys on the keyboard were not too “flat” to feel awkward and the screen looked great at virtually every angle.

What was also surprising was how incredibly light the 15-inch model was at 1.59kg (3.5lbs). It also seemed to thinner than the pen I took to the venue.

And in cooperation with Italian luxury leather goods maker Valextra, these custom made carriers were also on display.

The new Note Series 9 is a definitely product fitting its “premium” status and doesn’t seem to sacrifice the slightest bit of performance for its sexy sleek exterior.  Below, a designer speaks about the story behind the design. (Press the “CC” button for subtitles)
