[Photo] Samsung Showcases Galaxy S8 Designed to Suit Chinese Consumers’ Lifestyles

To announce the Galaxy S8’s official release in China, Samsung held a special launch event at the scenic Great Wall Theater, located in a historic quarter of Beijing, beneath the Great Wall itself. Attended by approximately 1,000 guests, the May 18 event featured presentations that delved into key Galaxy S8 features designed to redefine users’ smartphone experience, and outlined local partnerships and services that leverage those innovations to best suit Chinese consumers’ lifestyles.

 

The evening’s speakers announced collaborations with some of China’s most popular gaming and video services, including Tencent and iQiyi, to optimize content to take full advantage of the Galaxy S8’s Infinity Display. Samsung also discussed partnerships with Weibo, China’s massively popular microblogging website, and the WPS Office software, which will offer users more ways to utilize their Gear 360 camera and Samsung DeX.

Held at the Great Wall Theater, the evening opens with a video entitled ‘New Normal’, which is accompanied by a stirring rendition of The Beatles’ ‘Across the Universe’, performed with a mixture of modern and traditional Chinese instruments.

 

DJ Koh, President of Samsung’s Mobile Communications Business, opens the Galaxy S8’s launch event by outlining Samsung’s R&D initiatives in China, as well as its efforts to provide Chinese consumers with products tailored to suit their lifestyle.

 

Mr. Koh discusses Samsung’s goal for the Galaxy S8: “We wanted to provide the best-performing smartphone in the market and provide our consumers with a meaningful step forward in their mobile experience.”

 

 

Daijun Zhang, Vice President of China’s Samsung R&D Institute, takes to the stage to discuss a few of the Galaxy S8’s most innovative features, including its Infinity Display, IP68 dust and water resistance, biometric authentication options and advanced camera.

 

Lan Ge, a member of the Galaxy Community, joins Daijun Zhang on stage to conduct a firsthand demonstration of the Galaxy S8’s Infinity Display.

 

Roger Chen, Vice President of SCIC Contents Strategy Group, takes to the stage to present a selection of Galaxy S8 contents and services that Samsung developed specifically for the Chinese market.

 

During the event, Mr. Chen, joined by Mr. Ge, demonstrates the Samsung DeX to the crowd.

 

Before the starting of the event, attendees get hands-on with the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in the event’s experience zone.

 

 

Attendees test out the Samsung DeX and Gear VR, which allow Galaxy S8 users to enjoy new levels of fun and productivity.
