A city-state with a population of 5.3 million, Singapore is the largest financial hub in South East Asia. Located at the southernmost tip of the Malay Peninsula, Singapore is very strategically located for those that want to do business in South East Asia, which is exactly the reason why Samsung South East Asia HQ is based there.

Asia is very IT sensitive, and shows both a very high demand as well as an acceptance of new IT technologies. Therefore, it is important for Samsung, a leader in the IT industry, to recognize the significance of the market, regardless of the size.

It’s no surprise that Samsung has announced the Galaxy K zoom, a technological fusion of smartphone and optic, in Singapore, with the expectation of creating a new trend in the market.

Red Dot Museum Taken with Galaxy K zoom

Samsung decided to announce the Galaxy K zoom at the Red Dot Design Museum, established only in Singapore and Germany. It is here that the Red Dot Design Award, one of the world’s three major design competitions, is held and presented to designers from all over the world. It says a lot that this venue was chosen to unveil the Galaxy K zoom, but Samsung was confident that the overall design would make quite a statement.

And make a statement it did! There were crowds of people lined up for the event from the start. Generally, visitors and tourists come to the museum to take in the exhibits, but on this day, various press and media personnel were lining up at the museum for the event.  All were waiting eagerly for the official unveiling of the Galaxy K zoom.

Ironically, this is a picture of the Galaxy K zoom with the Galaxy K zoom in 10x zoom. Unfortunately, it was quite dark at the event, so the picture isn’t perfectly clear, but it’s still quite impressive.

The highlight of the event was when the retractable lens with 10x optical zoom was activated on stage. People really seemed to be impressed with how that lens was housed in the slim 2centimeter body. In fact, they were so excited that the applause went on for quite some time.

Galaxy K zoom is a unique camera specialized smartphone with powerful specifications and optic performance, while still retaining an elegant, ergonomic design. However, there are plenty of specs available on the features and technology of the Galaxy K zoom, so we won’t go into the details too much.

At the event, along with the Galaxy K zoom, four of the Samsung Level series, Samsung’s new premium mobile audio products, were introduced as well.

After the presentation, participants, including major clients, press, and media personnel from the Southeast Asian region got to experience the Galaxy K zoom and the Samsung Level series in the ‘Experience Zone.’

Unlike other smartphone launching events, people were taking pictures of each other having fun, most likely due to the fact that the Galaxy K zoom is a camera specialized smartphone.

It was interesting to see Samsung’s announcement of the Galaxy K zoom, especially when some critics say that smartphones in the market tends to focus almost solely on the specifications of the smartphone, instead of how people use it. And while there are many people that say the market for smartphones has become stagnant, it is interesting to see how eager Samsung is to breathe new life into smartphones and set another trend.
