Samsung announces ‘gamechanging’ multi function printers at IFA 2014

Samsung has chosen IFA 2014 as the perfect place to launch the new multi function printers that are set to revolutionise the way we print.

In a dynamic presentation designed to show off the potential of the world’s first Android powered printers Graham Long from Samsung UK took the stage to herald them as a ‘gamechanging’ proposition that establishes Samsung as leaders in solutions for the mobile first workforce.

Despite IFA being primarily a consumer electronic show Samsung has brought a range of ideas tailored for businesses and the assembled media and guests at the exclusive event had a chance to put the printers to the test and experience all they have to offer.

Following the launch Samsung executives took to the stage for a Q&A session, – they were met with praise for the bid to put the printer at the heart of the mobile office and they announced an October2014 worldwide release date for the new line.

Each Samsung Smart MultiXpress machine features a 10.1 inch full touchscreen panel that enables users to search and print from web browsers, emails, maps, images and other types of content – without the need to connect to a PC or server. The touch screen also offers the ability to preview documents, as well as editing and annotating capabilities.

Talking at an informal reception that followed the launch Hyesung Ha, Vice President Product Strategy Group at Samsung explained some of the process the project team went through in developing the Smart MultiXpress.

“We wanted to provide a product that will offer real benefits to the way people work and learn. For example, in our research we saw how with these printers a teacher could use the printer to surf the web, find a text in another language, translate it, and then use OCR to convert to an editable document. They can then print this or share it by email straight from the printer.”

They are truly multi-tasking machines, she added, and device agnostic so whatever mobile devices your workforce brings to the office they can work seamlessly and efficiently with Smart MultiXpress.
