Samsung Electronics has recently been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard certificate for its excellent carbon management system in 8 facilities in South Korea.

This honor is doubly meaningful since just last March the GALAXY S II and GALAXY Note was the first mobile device to be awarded with the Carbon Footprint certificate by Carbon Trust .

The UK’s Carbon Trust Standard Company (CTSC) evaluates green business strategies, energy reduction results, and greenhouse reduction activities among other factors to determine whether the criteria are met for the certificate.

The criteria include over 3% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and meeting over 60% of the requirements in over 10 categories of carbon management.

Samsung Electronics as of 2010 has reduced greenhouse gas emissions by over 14% on average during 2008 and 2009, while met 95.2% of the requirements in terms of carbon management.

“With the slogan of ‘Planet First’, we will continue to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in both our facilities and products. It is an honor for Samsung Electronics to receive the ‘Carbon Trust Standard’, and we plan to continue to help preserve the environment through carbon reduction and other means.” -	SangBum Park, Executive Director of CS Environment Center

July of 2009 Samsung Electronics announced that it will reduce the greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2013 and has already reduced it by 40% by late 2011, fast approaching the stated goal.
