One of the greatest writers in the English language, William Shakespeare, once said,

“How far that little candle throws its beams! So shines a good deed in a naughty world.”

We cannot really articulate it better than Shakespeare can, but we also cannot agree more. Samsung has been quite active with its social contribution programs, such as Smart School, Solve for Tomorrow, Tech Institute, Health & Medical, Nanum Village, and more. Sharing is caring and Samsung really cares.

Samsung has been giving back to local communities across the United States for over a decade. With the continuing effort and will to give back to the community, Samsung Electronics North America officially closed its offices last week, so that employees could concentrate on ‘caring’ for a day.

On October 2, as a part of the company’s annual global volunteer month, Samsung held the ‘Day of Service’ initiative. Employees from New Jersey to Texas to California, and all points in between, volunteer at more than 25 health, education, and environmental non-profit organizations across the United States.

A wide range of activities are planned for employees throughout the day, including cleaning up local waterways, serving lunch in soup kitchens, assisting in classrooms, and building comfort kits for people who have recently gone through a traumatic event.

Additionally, as a member of the Annual Disaster Giving Program, Samsung donated 2,000 disaster comfort kits to help provide the Red Cross with the resources to respond immediately and assist those impacted by disasters.

“We are impressed by Samsung’s commitment to volunteerism, encouraging their employees to take time during their normal workday to assemble these disaster kits. We are proud to work together with a company that is dedicated to helping create safer and more resilient communities,” said Mathieu Nelessen, regional CEO of the American Red Cross North Jersey Region.

While Samsung may be in the business of technology, the company’s employees are driven by their passion to make the world a better place, and Samsung is thrilled to help provide its North American workforce that opportunity. Samsung will continue to give back to local communities, and we will continue to share such heartwarming stories. Stay tuned!
