At the Forum, Samsung exhibited its latest technologies including:

Pixel miniaturization technology which, based on Samsung’s unique ISOCELL technology, shows superior pixel performance even with smaller pixel size, ultimately enabling imagers with resolutions higher than 20MP,

• PDAF(Phase Detection Auto Focus) technology, which drastically improves the camera’s accuracy in focus, and

• Global Shutter technology, which improves and allows the camera to capture moving objects without distortion

Through these next-generation technologies, Samsung looks to provide state-of-the-art image sensors fit for mobile devices which require chips that are smaller and consume less power.

Samsung also demonstrated what these advanced image sensor technologies enable cameras to do; many attendees showing interest in Samsung’s Smart WDR(Wide Dynamic Range) technology, which captures rich color details even in dark indoor or backlit environments, and ISOCELL technology, which showed amazing resolution and color reproduction despite its ultra-small pixel size of 1.0㎛. (Most imagers currently used in mobile devices have 1.12㎛ pixels.)

“Samsung has proved its on-going leadership in mobile image sensor innovation by developing and commercializing ISOCELL for the first time in the industry last year” said Kyushik Hong, Vice President and Head of S.LSI Marketing at Samsung Electronics. “With the first annual Samsung Image Sensor Forum 2014, Samsung will strengthen its communication and lead the Chinese image sensor market.”

Building upon its unique technology, Samsung plans to lead the technology trends and provide optimized image sensor solutions in China, which is a major production base for global IT giants and has the world’s largest demand for parts and components.
