 Interactive digital experiences bring Samsung’s Smart Olympic Games Campaign to life

Samsung Electronics launched the centerpiece of its Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games campaign, the Galaxy Studio within the Olympic Park, joined by Maria Sharapova, global tennis icon and Samsung’s Brand Ambassador for Sochi 2014, and Timo Lumme, Managing Director, IOC Television & Marketing Services. The Galaxy Studio Olympic Park will enable consumers to interact with Samsung’s latest wireless technology and connect with the Olympic Games. The Galaxy Studio has been designed to offer visitors a chance to get their hands on Samsung’s latest mobile devices to create, capture and share their own Olympic Games experience.

“We invite athletes and fans to visit our Galaxy Studios and enhance their time at the Games through our people-inspired technologies and exciting interactive experiences. Mobile devices have become an important way through which people enjoy the Olympic Games, and Samsung is introducing new approaches for spectators to become active participants of the Games through our technology,” said Younghee Lee, Executive Vice President of Global Marketing, IT & Mobile Division at Samsung Electronics. 

 

The Galaxy Studio will provide entertainment for everyone, with a variety of activities to enhance the excitement of Sochi 2014 during the Olympic Games. Visitors will be able to experience winter Olympic sports via innovative Samsung technologies at the Sport Interactive Zone, and show their support for athletes by sending cheers through Samsung’s ChatON app at the Cheering Zone. A special Kids Zone will allow children to enjoy drawing on the Galaxy Note 3 and receive a badge of their own drawing.

The Galaxy Studio Olympic Park consists of 16 reusable structures that were brought to Sochi and assembled onsite for use throughout the Games. After the Games conclude, the Galaxy Studio in Olympic Park will be dismantled and the structures will be distributed for reuse, leaving minimal waste. These efforts are the latest in a series of sustainable activities by Samsung around its Olympic Games sponsorship and larger commitment to building a better global society.

In addition to the flagship Galaxy Studio in the Olympic Park, Samsung will have three other Studios located in the Coastal Village, Mountain Village and Sochi Art Museum Square to expand the Olympic spirit to a wider audience.
