Samsung’s Vision of Smart School Showcased at BETT 2013

Samsung Electronics is showcasing its vision of the next generation classroom of the future at education trade fair, British Educational Training and Technology (BETT) 2013 in London.  New technology in the classroom, Samsung believes, is set to change dramatically how students learn and teachers pass on information. To lead this education revolution, Samsung is working closely with content providers such as Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) to deliver advanced solutions for the digital classroom.

Already, the widespread adoption of tablets, mobile applications, social networks and digital content is having a profound effect on students around the world. They expect their learning environment to be digital and interactive.

To help bridge this gap, Samsung is previewing its Smart School solution, a complete digital education package consisting of Samsung devices, software  and other complimentary components that enable teachers to make lessons more dynamic by incorporating interactivity and multimedia content.

Rolling out globally from February, Samsung Smart School solution enables the instant sharing of what’s on the screen of a teacher’s device to his students’ personal devices. It gives teachers greater control over their classroom, increases student engagement and ensures a more efficient transfer of materials to students, which in turn encourages more participation, results in more efficient communication and delivers improved classroom management and performance.

The Samsung Smart School solution has been deployed in many Korean schools as a pilot, and is currently being trialed in more than 20 schools around the world – from Africa and Asia to Europe and North America. The solution has been enhanced and proved in current classrooms from this series of pilots evolving to new learning environment. A key success has been Samsung’s partnership with Memphis City Schools to carry out a classroom pilot of Samsung Smart School solution.

Samsung provided the 6th grade math class at Memphis’ Geeter Middle School with a Samsung Smart School solution package consisting of 35 GALAXY Note 10.1 units, a 65” interactive whiteboard and a wireless printer. The solution gave teacher the ability to lead interactive lessons and real-time group activities through screen and content sharing features.

From January 30^th to February 2^nd, Samsung will showcase its new learning experiences at BETT 2013. Samsung’s booth is located in London’s ExCeL, Hall N12, Stand C250 close to Entrance N6 and comprises of three zones: Smart School, Smart Discovery and Smart IT. Visitors to the booth will be able to experience Samsung’s concept of the Next Generation Classroom, which demonstrates how an interactive and collaborative learning environment can be implemented and used for teachers and students with features such as multi-way screen sharing, which aims to encourage discussion.

Samsung will also showcase its wide range of products and solutions, not to mention Samsung Smart School solution, from outstanding tablets and interactive whiteboards to mobile printers and PCs that will transform how teachers interact with students in the class room.

Samsung has also partnered with global education leader HMH to offer interactive content on Samsung’s Android-powered tablet devices.
