This year will see two awe-inspiring solar eclipses take place – one in June and one in December. In December, only those in the southern parts of South America and southwestern Africa will be able to view the eclipse, however, on June 21st, viewers across Eastern Europe, eastern Africa and parts of Asia were all lucky enough to experience this rare celestial event firsthand.

In the wake of this memorable event, we look back on photographs of Chile’s first total solar eclipse in decades, captured with the Galaxy S10+. In July of 2019 Iván Castro, a photographer who specializes in capturing eclipses, photographed this exciting moment from the desert at the remote Chilean town of La Higuera, while fellow photographer Tomás Westenenk used another Galaxy S10+ to take photographs from an airplane.

Below, check out some of the best images captured on that magical day using the powerful camera on the Galaxy S10+:

Samsung Electronics has announced a fresh software update1 for the Galaxy S10e, S10, S10+ and S10 5G that introduces more powerful Galaxy Note10 features to the flagship lineup. Now, in addition to enjoying the diverse range of Note10 features that were added in the S10’s most recent update, users will be able to access all-new smart multimedia and Wi-Fi functions2 that streamline connections and take content creation to the next level.

Let’s take a closer look at how some of the Note10’s innovative and convenient features work on the Galaxy S10.

Enjoy Enriching Multimedia Experiences and Seamless Connectivity

The latest Galaxy S10 software update brings a more streamlined and seamless user experience to the device. The Gallery allows you to find your favorite photos quickly by refining searches with keywords.

Gallery Improvement

Discovering new songs, movies or TV shows is also easier with the improved device search, which brings up content recommendations from multimedia streaming apps. With the addition of Media & Devices to Quick Panel, you can easily control your multimedia experience across devices with just the Galaxy S10.

Media and Devices

Auto Hotspot offers an easy solution for transforming your Galaxy S10 into a Wi-Fi hub. After an initial setup, the feature will let the Galaxy S10 establish a hotspot automatically with other Samsung devices if they share the same Samsung account or family account. By offering troubleshooting guides and alerts, Wi-Fi Tips ensures your mobile connection will be stable and secure.

Intelligent Wi-Fi Auto Hotspot

Capture Your Vision

Launched in September, the previous software update brought Note10’s powerful creativity tools to the Galaxy S10. You can now add a personal touch to videos with fun, vibrant drawings – no S Pen required – with the device’s infinitely expressive AR Doodle function. With the camera’s enhanced Super steady video stabilization, you’ll never have to worry about shaky clips, even when the action heats up. Plus, capture crystal clear selfies after dark with Night Mode on the front camera.

A Pocket-sized Multimedia Suite

Users are already able to edit their favorite clips right on their smartphone thanks to the Galaxy S10’s Video Editor feature, but with the updated Samsung DeX, transforming your clips into dynamic videos is easier than ever before. Simply connect the device to a PC or Mac with a USB cable and you’ll be able to trim, edit, and personalize your clips with precision on Samsung DeX.

The Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ are packed with powerful tools designed to help users unleash their creativity and be more productive. Now, with an update set for release beginning in European markets from September 23,1 Samsung Electronics is introducing many of those same bar-raising innovations – including features like AR Doodle, a built-in video editor and Link to Windows integration – to the Galaxy S10e, S10, S10+ and S10 5G.2

Once Galaxy S10 users download the update, they’ll notice that their smartphone’s pro-grade camera has become even more powerful. The update expands the camera’s Night Mode to include support for the front-facing camera as well – offering users more freedom to snap vivid shots after dark. It also introduces enhanced Super steady video stabilization, as well as support for dynamic Galaxy Note10 functions like AR Doodle and Live focus video recording. The former lets users enhance their videos with fun, augmented-reality drawings and messages, while the latter lets them apply bokeh effects (including blur, big circle, color point and glitch) to videos recorded with the front or rear camera.

Whenever Galaxy S10 users capture a memorable clip, the camera’s new, Gallery app-accessible video editor offers all the tools they’ll need to turn it into a share-worthy video. This versatile feature makes it easy to edit videos like a pro, and features simple tools for trimming clips, stitching them together, adjusting playback speed and more. You can even use the function to add subtitles and background music to clips to make your content more unique.

The update also incorporates support for Samsung DeX for PC. Once users download the app from SamsungDeX.com, they’ll be able to launch Samsung DeX on their PC or Mac simply by connecting their Galaxy S10 to their computer via USB cable. Link to Windows support has also been added, which means that Galaxy S10 users will be able to wirelessly connect their phone to their Windows 10 PC and easily view its contents, send and receive messages, and sync recent photos directly from their computer.

Apps that Galaxy S10 users rely on every day, including Samsung Pass and Messages, have also been made more versatile and convenient. Now, Samsung Pass’s setup has been simplified, making it easier for Galaxy S10 users to utilize their device’s advanced biometric technologies to log in to apps and websites quickly and securely. In the Messages app, new icons for adding photos and videos have been positioned to the left of the text window to offer users easy access to the files they need.

As Jiyoung Mun, an engineer at Samsung Electronics’ Mobile R&D Office, explained, the Galaxy S10’s update reflects Samsung’s commitment to offering more users access to exceptional innovations. “At Samsung Electronics, we’re constantly exploring ways to offer Galaxy device users the best possible smartphone experience, and this software update is an extension of that commitment,” said Mun.

1 Update release date may vary by country and carrier.

2 Each global market will receive the same features through the update with the exception of the U.S., where features may vary by carrier.

There’s something special about the way cities look in the nighttime. Once the day draws to an end, our favorite cityscapes come alive and we often find ourselves itching to capture the scenes in front of us with our smartphones. But without a camera able to take on the nuances and challenges of nighttime photography, this undertaking can be a fruitless one.

The Galaxy S10+’s Night Mode is the perfect tool for capturing photos after the sun has gone down. Accessible from the Camera app, Night Mode can be manually toggled on and off whenever you wish to use it in the Camera app’s sliding menu. Compared with photos taken without it switched on, Night Mode minimizes the noise from a dark environment to enhance a photo’s details and corrects colors, along with other image qualities, to make the resulting low-light shots more vivid.

Samsung Newsroom traveled to some of the top landmarks around Seoul after dark to see how the Galaxy S10+’s Night Mode can bring out every detail in a nighttime scene, even in low light conditions.

A Palace for All Hours of the Day

Deoksu Palace is one of Seoul’s four ancient palaces, drawing visitors keen to take in its striking architecture day and night.

Junghwajeon, one of the royal courts of Deoksu Palace, was built in 1902 and has a remarkable golden exterior featuring intricate patterns, colors and textures that are not easy to capture at night. However, by simply turning on Night Mode on the Galaxy S10+, all the courts’ details come to life, thanks to Night Mode’s intelligent gradation adjustment that brings vibrancy to pictures taken after dark. Try using a tripod to level the top and bottom of the frame for an ever better shot of the ancient palace that captures every striking detail.

While the Galaxy range’s Night Mode function previously only automatically activated when conditions were very dark (below 1 lux), the Galaxy S10+’s Night Mode now allows users to make the most out of it as they can manually switch it on or off and use it for lighter nighttime scenes.

Stand-Out Statues Amid City Life

Seoul’s Gwanghwamun Plaza, often bustling with pedestrians, is a place where the traditional and the modern come together. Neon lights from the buildings that flag it, along with the bright lights of passing cars, make up a vibrant patchwork of color during the nighttime, but can easily drown out the statues at the Plaza’s heart in pictures.

Thanks to the Galaxy S10+’s Night Mode, the two statues that sit right at the heart of downtown Seoul (Admiral Yi Sun-sin, first picture, Sejong the Great, second picture) can be captured without any compromise to the eclectic lighting of their surroundings. Night Mode lowers camera sensitivity and decreases shutter speed, capturing bright lighting well despite the high contrast. Paired with the Ultra Wide lens of the Galaxy S10 line, Night Mode provides after-dark shots that can capture everything in the camera’s field of vision.

When Urban Meets Rural

Naksan Park in northern Seoul features vistas that include a striking contrast between the area’s historic fortress wall, idyllic mountain views and the nighttime bustle of downtown Seoul.

But Galaxy S10+ users need not worry about losing any detail when capturing close (first picture) or wide (second picture) shots of scenes with such subject contrast. Without Night Mode switched on, distinct features of the landscape would be lost, with city lights obscuring lower contrast areas such as the striking mountainous terrains in the far distance. But just by switching Night Mode on, you can maximize the visibility of your shot thanks to its intelligent noise reduction that balances different areas of contrast and light to cleanly bring out a shot’s every aspect – even in low-light conditions.

Sunset By the River

The Hangang Riverside Park lights up as the sun goes down, and the variety of different lighting attractions on display reflect in the Han River to often dazzling effect. Yet capturing this display of light from a variety of different light sources, from the natural light of the fading sun to the colorful façade of the Hangang Floating Islands, can present a challenge when looking to achieve balance in twilight pictures.

With the Galaxy S10+’s Night Mode, pictures emerge more vibrantly thanks to its auto color-correcting software, resulting in bright and clean shots that carefully negotiate all the different sources of light on offer. For an even more vivid take, users can alter Night Mode’s settings for lower exposure correction to capitalize on the darker aspects of a scene – without losing any of the color or detail.

Bird’s Eye Views

Seoul’s Namsan Tower sits an impressive 479.7 meters above sea level, offering visitors a scenic, near-panoramic view of the city which comes to life as the sun sets.

One of Namsan Tower’s best offerings to visitors is the opportunity it presents for you to capture shots of the sprawling city that lies below it – as well as of the striking tower itself against a diverse backdrop. But cloudy weather conditions add more disruptive photographic noise to pictures that obscures the details of a shot, especially for long-distance vistas.

Just by sliding Night Mode on in the Camera app, Galaxy S10+ users can take shots that bring out the vivid colors of this cityscape at night thanks to Night Mode’s intelligent noise reduction capabilities. Whether you are looking to photograph a landmark (first picture) or achieve a birds-eye view shot of a city (second picture), the Galaxy S10+’s Night Mode optimizes color and contrast balance to striking effect – even in less-than-ideal weather conditions.

*Availability of the Galaxy S10 line’s new Night Mode feature may vary by market and product

If you’re usually on your phone before bed and you find yourself having trouble falling asleep, you’re not alone.

According to recent findings from Counterpoint Research, nearly half of all global smartphone users spend more than five hours a day on their mobile device. Once the sun goes down, studies show that the blue light from your smartphone’s screen and other artificial light sources can throw your biological clock out of whack – making it harder to fall asleep, and possibly causing more serious problems down the line.

To safeguard users’ eyes from blue light’s potentially harmful effects, Samsung equipped the Galaxy S10 line with a display that reduces users’ exposure to blue light wavelengths – without compromising picture quality. Let’s take a closer look at how blue light affects our eyes, and how the Galaxy S10’s display protects them.

Why Blue Light Exposure Matters

Blue light is generally defined as a high-intensity, short-wavelength (380 to 500-nanometer) range of light on the visible light spectrum.

These days, whether it’s through our electronic devices’ screens, energy efficient lighting, or simply sunlight, we’re constantly being exposed to blue light. Which isn’t all bad. According to the Royal Society Te Apārangi, a not-for-profit organization based in New Zealand, “Adequate exposure to daylight, particularly during the morning, is important for synchronizing the circadian body clock, which can affect many processes including sleep, metabolism, immune function and even our mood.”

However, when viewed at night, blue light has been shown to suppress the production of melatonin (a hormone that regulates sleep–wake cycles) more powerfully than other types of light, affecting our ability to sleep. Recent research from the University of Toledo also suggests that blue light from mobile devices can cause harm to the eye’s retina.

In this digital age, with smartphone users spending increasingly more time on their mobile devices, it’s easy to see why blue-light reducing technology has become absolutely necessary.

How the Galaxy S10 Reduces Blue Light Transmission

The Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, Galaxy S10e and Galaxy S10 5G’s Dynamic AMOLED display was built from the ground up to minimize eye strain so users can get a better night’s sleep.

Galaxy S10 users can sleep soundly knowing that their smartphone’s display has been certified by world-renowned testing firm TÜV Rheinland1 to drastically reduce blue light’s harmful effects. When building the display, which received TÜV Rheinland’s official ‘Eye Comfort’ certification, Samsung applied new organic materials that reduce blue light wavelengths measuring between 415 and 455nm (the range that research2 suggests is particularly harmful to the retina) by up to 42 percent3 – without the use of filters.

This significant reduction in blue light transmission is the product of Samsung’s continuous commitment to developing industry-leading AMOLED technology. The Dynamic AMOLED display reduces the transmission of ‘harmful’ blue light (wavelengths in the 415 to 455nm range) to below 7 percent – the industry’s lowest mark. This means that the Galaxy S10’s display reduces nearly 50 percent more blue light than previous AMOLED displays (approx. 12 percent), and more than 60 percent more than most smartphone LCD displays (approx. 18 percent).

The Galaxy S10’s display also produces incredibly lifelike colors. To enable users to enjoy crisp, immersive colors day or night, Samsung went to great lengths to ensure that the display’s blue-light reducing innovations wouldn’t compromise image quality.

Samsung’s Mobile Digital Natural Image engine (mDNIe) is one such example of an image quality-preserving innovation. Whereas with previous smartphones’ displays, activating a blue-light filter would inevitably add a noticeable tint to the screen, this proprietary technology enables the Galaxy S10’s display to produce vibrant, immersive colors4 and reduce blue light transmission at the same time.

To offer users additional protection, the Galaxy S10 also features a built-in blue-light filter, accessible via the Quick Panel, that blocks up to 99 percent of blue light wavelengths. Users also have the option to set the blue-light filter to turn on automatically before they go to bed by activating Bixby’s preset ‘Before bed’ Routine, accessible under Settings > Advanced features > Bixby Routines.

As ByungChang Kwak of Samsung’s Mobile Communications Division explained, in addition to opting for a blue-light reducing smartphone like the Galaxy S10, there are simple things that consumers can do to help protect their eyes when using electronics devices. “For example, adjusting ambient lighting to minimize screen glare can help reduce eye strain,” said Kwak, “and remembering to blink frequently can help prevent dry eye.”

Going forward, Kwak added, “Samsung will continue to develop technologies that promote better health and make the user experience more convenient.”

1 TÜV Rheinland, a globally recognized certification institute, awarded Galaxy S10e, S10, S10+, S10 5G’s display the Eye Comfort Certification based on its ability to drastically reduce the harmful effects of blue light. This certification can be found on www.tuv.com with the ID 1419064785.

We are living in an era of spectacular visual communication and video content. Across a wide variety of platforms, more and more vloggers are sharing their passions, hobbies, thoughts and feelings with audiences from across the globe. While some may make use of professional gear, an increasing number are diving into the world of vlogs with just their smartphones and some smart ideas – and you can, too.

So, if it’s your first foray into vlogging, the Samsung Newsroom has put together five tips to get started with just your Galaxy S10+.

Even Out Shaky Footage with Super Steady Mode

When starting anything new, you may want to minimize equipment cost and outlay before you’re fully committed to the project or hobby. Vloggers, however, often discover that one piece of equipment is crucial to create smooth videos: a stabilizing gimbal. When you hold a camera in your hands, the slightest shake can be reflected in the footage, resulting in lots of time-consuming cuts and edits before your video is ready to be published.

Super Steady mode on the Galaxy S10+ is able to eliminate the effect of shaky hands by calibrating the video, predicting your movements and calculating the range with the smartphone’s Ultra Wide lens. To switch on Super Steady when shooting a video, just tap the icon in the center at the top of the screen.

Vlogger Tip: For optimal results in Super Steady mode, shoot videos when you’re on-the-go in bright, natural light.

Create Movie-like Moments with Super Slow-mo

Vloggers are constantly mixing up their content and format to attract new audiences and excite existing fans. Often the difference is in the details, transforming the vlog from digital content into artform.

To ensure that you don’t miss any of the action, capture the moment on your Galaxy S10+ in Super Slow-mo. Taking 960 frames per second, Super Slow-mo plays back 0.4 seconds of footage over 14 seconds, creating breathtaking videos that invite viewers to examine every detail, from a droplet of water falling on a petal, to a critical play in a sports game.

Vlogger Tip: Make use of the Galaxy’s S10+’s editing tools by adding background music or looping certain sections of the video to create a GIF file.

Condense Time with Hyperlapse

Whether it’s slowing down or speeding up, a change of pace can add a fresh perspective on an everyday scene.

Hyperlapse provides the perfect segue from one moment of action to another, allowing you to condense the flow of time and fast-forward between scenes without a dramatic cut. What’s more, because the effect can also be added after capturing the original video footage, creators don’t need to be conscious of the camera or alter their actions while they are filming.

Vlogger Tip: Hyperlapse can be used to show the flow of time in a fixed location. Once you open the camera app on your Galaxy S10+, click on the “Settings” icon at the top left of the screen, activate the grid lines to help you find the center of your scene and fix the camera to a tripod.

Get Personal with the UHD Front Camera

While there are many different styles of vlog covering countless different topics, they all offer a personal point of view. When a vlogger talks directly to the camera, they want to ensure that they have the best picture quality possible to capture their moods and reactions.

The Galaxy S10+ is optimized for this first-person perspective, equipped with two front cameras, including a 10MP Selfie Camera. This powerful camera can achieve UHD resolution, picking out the contours and fine details of the face to express every nuance of emotion. When they come to edit their film, cuts between footage captured with the front and rear cameras appear fluid, uninterrupted by differences in quality.

Vlogger Tip: Go hands-free with voice control. Simply open up the front camera, say “Record Video” and you can start shooting right away.

Bring Your Own Mini-me to Life with AR Emoji

Creating animated videos once required specialist know-how and a lot of time, limiting the kind of content that vloggers could produce.

Now, with AR Emoji on the Galaxy S10+, you can create your very own avatar and capture its movements on-camera, crafting an instant digital mini-me for the screen. Upgraded for the S10 line, the new AR Emoji accurately follows the movements of your eyes and your body when filming. If you prefer to stay anonymous, you can also replace your head with your AR Emoji’s cartoon-like face by selecting the “Mask” function.

Vlogger Tip: Use the “Mini motion” function to place your AR Emoji anywhere on the screen, or the “Basic” function for AR Emoji to record your every movement in cartoon form.

The Galaxy S10+ took the top spot in PROTESTE’s smartphone rankings with a record-setting score of 85 points (out of 100). In second and third place are the Galaxy S10 with 84 points, and the Note9 with 83. The Galaxy S10e ranked sixth with 82 points, and the Galaxy S9+ ranked eighth with 81, which means that half of the top ten smartphones in PROTESTE’s rankings are Samsung Galaxy devices.

The Galaxy S10+ stood out in a variety of tests, and was particularly impressive in the portion that evaluated resistance to shocks and water. To test the Galaxy S10+’s durability, PROTESTE repeatedly dropped the device from a height of 90cm, and immersed it in a container of water for an extended period of time.

“We evaluated points that are often extremely important to consumers, such as resistance and the battery,” said Thiago Leite Porto e Silva, a specialist in technology products at PROTESTE. “The Galaxy S10+ exceeded our expectations, and surprised us with the highest grade ever earned in our tests.”

The Galaxy S10+’s top ranking is a testament to the innovation of its features. “This ranking demonstrates that the consumer is at the center of our efforts and development, and will always be our main driving force,” said Jeonghwan Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of Samsung Electronics Latin America.

The culmination of ten years of industry-leading smartphone innovations, the Galaxy S10 line places a laundry list of industry-first and best technologies at users’ fingertips that allow them to do more with their phone than they ever could before.

Our previous articles examined how the new flagship line’s groundbreaking display, camera and performance innovations raise the bar for smartphones to follow. Now, using Gameloft Barcelona’s Asphalt 9: Legends as an example, we’ll show you how the Galaxy S10+’s supercharged specs take the gaming experience to the next level.

Buckle up, folks. You’re in for a ride.

Faster Speeds, Better Gameplay

In a game like Asphalt 9: Legends, a split-second decision can mean the difference between capturing a race and crashing out of contention. That’s why it’s important that your phone’s processor is capable of handling graphics-heavy games without slowing you down with lag or frequent FPS (frames per second) drops.

Featuring up to 12GB of RAM and a next-generation application processor (which improves CPU and GPU performance by up to 29 and 37 percent, respectively),1 the Galaxy S10+ allows you to leave the days of dealing with spotty FPS, lag, and long load times in your rearview mirror. When playing Asphalt 9: Legends, the Galaxy S10+’s high FPS rate makes details truly pop, and makes each 360-degree spin and slow-motion moment that much more enjoyable.

So whether you’re drifting through a turn or tearing down a straightaway, you can trust that the Galaxy S10+ will keep your gameplay snappy and smooth.

A Smooth Ride

The Galaxy S10+ also features a built-in, AI-based Smart Performance Adjuster that analyzes game playing patterns to make gameplay even smoother. As you’re racing down each track, it’s working to provide stable GPU and CPU performance – and eliminating frustrating peaks and valleys that could potentially slow you down.

The smartphone’s stable performance makes it abundantly clear that it’s built to handle the best mobile games that the industry has to offer. And that includes 64-bit games as well, which represent the future of mobile gaming.

In fact, the Galaxy S10 variants are the first Android devices to feature 64-bit game support. That means better battery drainage and thermal management when playing graphics-intensive games like Asphalt 9: Legends, Fortnite and other popular 64-bit titles that will be released throughout the year.

These days, nearly half of all new mobile games are created using the Unity game engine.2 In order to offer users the best possible mobile gaming experience, Samsung specially optimized its newest flagships for running Unity-built games. So when you play these titles on your Galaxy S10+, you’ll be playing them in their best form.

The smartphones are able to deliver a more seamless and stable gaming experience because they’re the first mobile devices to be optimized to work with Unity’s new Adaptive Performance feature.3 Adaptive Performance support means that when playing high-performance games on your Galaxy S10 line, you’ll enjoy better battery life and smoother, faster performance – without having to worry about your phone overheating. If the game you’re playing was built using the Unity engine, Adaptive Performance will boost its overall performance by approximately 10 percent.

Keep It Cool

Just like cutting-edge supercars feature the latest and greatest in terms of engine technology, the Galaxy S10+ features hardware and software that have been optimized to support truly incredible gaming experiences.

Take, for instance, Samsung’s Vapor Chamber cooling system, which allows the Galaxy S10+ to stay cool during heavy gaming sessions. This innovative technology improves GPU efficiency, which means that 3D games are smoother and more immersive than with the Galaxy S9. So as you breeze through each course in Asphalt 9: Legends – burning rubber at one picturesque location after another – you can rest assured that your phone is designed to keep cool when the pressure’s on.

Stunning Visuals, Immersive Sound

As anyone who’s put the pedal to the virtual metal with the Asphalt series knows, when it comes to high-octane mobile racing games, it doesn’t get any better than this.

The game’s scenic courses and nitro-fueled racing mayhem look absolutely stunning on the Galaxy S10+’s 6.4-inch, high-resolution Infinity-O Display. The display’s vibrant, lifelike colors add depth and realism to everything from your supercar’s glossy contours to the game’s astoundingly detailed city- and landscapes. It’s also been optimized by Samsung to be easy on the eyes, which makes it perfect for those extended gaming sessions.

From the moment you take your mark for the start of the race to the moment you cross the finish line, the Galaxy S10+’s first-of-its-kind4 Dolby Atmos for Gaming technology immerses you in rich sound. Accessible in-game via the Game Tools menu, this clever innovation carefully optimizes each level of sound – from background music to sound effects – to create a well-rounded soundscape5 that enhances the overall gaming experience.

The results are some truly heart-pumping audio effects that ramp up your adrenaline with every turn.

Game On!

Offering easy access to over 30,000 exhilarating games and counting, the Galaxy S10 line’s built-in Game Launcher is your one-stop hub for all things mobile gaming.

The convenient app, which allows you to view all of your installed games at once, is packed with intuitive tools designed to help you get the most out of your gaming experience. These allow you to, for example, instantly mute your games’ sound before you begin to play, and make detailed adjustments to game settings in order to optimize performance or save power.

The in-game accessible Game Tools menu offers users even more ways to take their gaming experience to the next level. The handy menu includes options to disable calls and notifications while gaming – to minimize distractions – and makes it easy to snap in-game screenshots, record gameplay, lock navigation buttons, and activate the Galaxy S10+’s Dolby Atmos for Gaming mode.

To introduce users to more games they’ll love, Game Launcher also offers game recommendations based on users’ usage patterns. Each game’s in-depth rundown includes insights into how the game is trending with Galaxy users worldwide, as well as the average amount of time that users are playing.

1 Varies by model and region.
2 The Unity game engine is utilized by over 6.5 million developers, and has served as the framework for approximately 40 percent of the world’s top 1,000 most popular mobile games.

In the era of social media, in which sharing photos and videos has nearly replaced texting and talking, the smartphone camera has emerged as one of the most important features for smartphone users.1

For the Galaxy S10 line, Samsung brought new, advanced hardware and software-based technologies to the camera, including cutting-edge, AI-powered features. In order to learn more about the phones’ pro-grade camera system – which features an Ultra Wide lens, Super Steady video recording, and a built-in Neural Processing Unit (NPU) – Samsung Newsroom sat down with Samsung Electronics’ Mobile Communications Division’s camera developers and product planner.

(From left) Seoyoung Lee, Sunyong Kim, Sugon Baek and Wonseok Song of Samsung Electronics’ Mobile Communications Division, who planned and developed the Galaxy S10 line’s camera technologies.

The Power of the Ultra Wide Lens

The secret to taking incredible photos with the Galaxy S10 line is the Ultra Wide lens. The addition of the Ultra Wide lens was a major moment for Samsung, and represents one of the biggest changes to the Galaxy series in generations. Now, users can capture every detail of an epic landscape, or fit the entire family into one group shot without having to move back.

“Users expect more than just improved image quality with a new device. They want a camera that makes it easier to take amazing photos,” explained product planner Sunyong Kim. “The Ultra Wide lens features a 123-degree field of view, just like the human eye, so you can easily capture the moment just as you see it.”

Image captured using the Ultra Wide lens on the Galaxy S10+. This feature is also available on the Galaxy S10 and S10e.

With the Ultra Wide lens, users can easily take dynamic pictures using the camera’s Live Focus function and Panorama mode. “Live Focus has been available on previous Samsung devices with the Telephoto and Wide-angle lenses, but for the Galaxy S10 line, we brought it to the Ultra Wide lens as well,” noted Sugon Baek. “What’s more, Panorama mode offers more vertical scope than previous models did, and greatly reduces the need to move the camera from left to right in order to capture the full shot.”

A panorama shot on the Galaxy S10+. This feature is also available on the Galaxy S10 and S10e.

Shake-Free Video Quality

Another new innovation that’s built into the Galaxy S10 line is the camera’s Super Steady video-recording feature, which offers users enhanced video stabilization.2

Super Steady works by using VDIS (Video Digital Image Stabilization) technology. It predicts user movements before filming starts, and once the camera is running, it calculates the adjustment range to minimize shakiness in videos.

“In the past, achieving optimum video stabilization meant sacrifices for the camera’s angle of view,” noted Wonseok Song. “A conventional wide-angle camera couldn’t solve the problem. But thanks to the Ultra Wide lens, the S10 is able to support a natural viewing angle while also offering stability and quality.”

Given that the adjustment capability of the Super Steady technology is best for capturing bigger movements, Song has a tip for users filming in different conditions: “For scenes that feature less action in low light, use the camera’s normal mode. For brighter scenes that feature more movement, Super Steady is best.”

Video footage3 shot on the Galaxy S9 (left) and Galaxy S10+ (right). This feature is only supported when filming with the Full HD Ultra Wide lens.

A Camera That’s Smart

The Galaxy S10 doesn’t just have the most advanced camera system on a Galaxy phone, it also has the smartest. In a first for Galaxy smartphones, the Galaxy S10 includes a next-generation NPU that automatically optimizes pictures in up to 30 different categories.

“We added 10 additional categories to optimize common photos, including ‘Dog,’ ‘Drink,’ and ‘Shoe,’” explained Seoyoung Lee. ‘Dog’ mode, she added, optimizes users’ pictures by focusing on fine details, such as strands of fur, whereas categories like ‘Shoe’ and ‘Clothing’ focus on objects’ colors, since most pictures of these objects are taken without people’s faces in the frame. “We also added ‘Drink’ category because we noticed the growing trend of people sharing pictures of their cocktails on social media.”

The Galaxy S10 line’s camera also provides suggestions of ways to potentially improve photos through its Shot Suggestion function. Based on the Galaxy S10 line’s machine learning capabilities, Shot Suggestion references a database of over 100 million users’ pictures to offer helpful tips on improving overall composition, positioning and proportions for photos of various subjects, including people, animals and vehicles. “The AI-based suggestions have been developed not just to prioritize putting the subject at the center of a photo,” said Lee. “That way, no matter how you want to set up your shot, the Galaxy S10 will help you do it in the most striking way possible.”

Seeing the Whole Picture

In developing the Galaxy S10 line’s camera, the team focused on engineering technologies that add real value to the camera experience, rather than simply increasing the number of lenses and features available.

“The camera is for more than documenting and recording,” explained Kim. “It is now the means through which we communicate.”

From the Ultra Wide lens, to Super Steady, to the NPU – and to other features, like Instagram mode, new filters, enhanced Bixby Vision, and easy shifting between lenses – the Galaxy S10 helps users do more with their camera than they ever could before. For all of those users who say a great camera is the top feature they’re looking for in a smartphone, Samsung has planted the flag.

1 According to Samsung Electronics’ research

2 Video stabilization on the Galaxy S10 line is up to three times better than conventional technologies.

The Galaxy S10 line celebrates a decade of Galaxy innovation with incredible new features and award-winning technologies. But the first thing consumers will notice when they see a new Galaxy S10 isn’t the Dynamic AMOLED display or the pro-grade camera system—it’s the eye-catching design.

The Samsung Newsroom sat down with the Galaxy S10 design team to learn more about how they created the most striking Galaxy lineup yet.

A Whole New Spectrum of Colors and Materials

The overarching design concept of the Galaxy S10 line is: “Radical, Magical”. From its bright colors and luxurious materials, to its sleek shape and bold display, the Galaxy S10 delivers radical change with a magical feel. Focusing on “prism colors”, the design team aimed to create iridescent hues that change depending on how they catch the light, so each device refracts light to produce a vast spectrum of colors.

“To create Prism White, we overlaid around 1,000 sheets of nanofilms together, each with different reflectivity,” explained Duyeong Choi, a member of the Design Team’s CMF Group responsible for color. “It was especially difficult to fine-tune which colors would stand out the most.”

In addition to adopting the prismatic design, the team also introduced bold new colors that are particularly attractive to Millennials and Gen Z. Youngmi Shin, in charge of the design strategy division from the Design Team elaborated: “We chose playful colors in line with current trends, with ‘Canary Yellow*’ for the Galaxy S10e based on the viral-hit color Gen Z Yellow and ‘Flamingo Pink*’ for the Galaxy S10e, S10, and S10+.”

In a Galaxy-first, the team also introduced premium, ceramic backs for the Galaxy S10+ with the colors Ceramic Black and Ceramic White. Recalling traditional ceramicware, which is heated to 1,400- degrees centigrade to achieve a tough exterior, the Galaxy S10+’s ceramic backs offer greater strength and durability, as well as better scratch resistance, thanks to an added inner layer of scatter-protection film. The beautiful ceramic finish is the result of an intense, 200 hour-long process, handled by Samsung from start to finish. “Some users want a more sophisticated look and substantive feel for their device,” Shin said.

“The Galaxy S10 line is defined by choice. From the option of a flat display and compact form factor of the Galaxy S10e, to the larger, end-to-end displays of the S10 and S10+, there’s something for everybody,” Seungho Jang, a member of the Flagship Product Design Group in the Design Team, emphasized.

The Difference is in the Detail

Ensuring that the Galaxy S10 line was free of any friction or frustration was a top priority for the designers. For instance, the team had to position the front camera so that it did not interfere with content on the display, and they had to optimize the refractive ratio of the display to minimize bezels.

There were also larger challenges. A secure, comfortable grip is a vitally important consideration for a smartphone, so the form factor was a major point of focus for the design team.

“The Galaxy S10’s feeling of openness comes from its shape at the edges,” Jang continued. “We shaped the sides of the device to be smooth and solid like a pebble. Not only does it feel great in your hand, it reduces the shadow on the display from reflected light.”

These design choices can influence the integrity of the display—especially one as technologically advanced as the Infinity-O Display. Dongkyun Kim of the design team recalled the development process: “The key is finding the perfect balance between the feelings of solidness and slimness.”

Putting it All Together

With the Galaxy S10 line, every decision—big or small—mattered. The result is something extraordinary: a device that honors the Galaxy legacy and sets a new standard for the smartphone.

Seungho Jang reflected: “In smartphone design, continual innovation is no easy task, but we are always listening to users, and are committed to pushing the boundaries of design to create Galaxy devices that everyone can enjoy.”

It has been over 10 years since Samsung Electronics first fitted an AMOLED display on its Haptic AMOLED phone in 2009 and on Galaxy S products in 2010. With the latest additions to the flagship Galaxy range, the Galaxy S10 line, the AMOLED display has evolved to provide crystal-clear picture quality and a display size that is 1.5 times bigger compared to the Galaxy S.

Thanks to these cutting-edge developments, the Galaxy S10 line offers a display with a brilliant, realistic picture quality whilst being comfortable on the user’s eyes and able to reflect various color preferences. Samsung Newsroom sat down with Byungduk Yang, Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ Mobile Communications Division to learn more about how the Galaxy S10 line’s display is at the core of the user’s mobile experience.

A User-Friendly Approach to Display Technology

Yang’s development philosophy for mobile displays puts the user first; “providing practical screen solutions and new experiences have become our core values,” explained Yang. “As a result, the Galaxy S10 line’s display focuses on providing interesting experiences and real-life benefits to users, beyond just good picture quality or display size.”

Of course, one of the key innovations of the Galaxy S10 line is the full screen experience provided by the ‘Infinity-O Display’ that covers, bar the camera, the entire front side of the device. In order to seamlessly integrate the front camera into the display, a small and precise hole is made in the screen using a delicate laser cutting technique and advanced barrier technology. These procedures maximize screen real estate, enhancing the reliability of barrier performance of AMOLED pixels around the hole. Therefore, users’ visual experience is maintained, or even more improved on the Infinity-O Display along with Dynamic AMOLED technology at the highest quality possible. “The Galaxy S10 line’s full display offers picture quality that is more realistic than before,” noted Yang.

But the Galaxy S10 line’s display provides real-life benefits and experiences to users beyond just high picture quality. “We wanted to achieve a ‘user-friendly’ display,” explained Yang. “Display-based devices are known to harm users’ retinas after prolonged use to due blue light emissions. This is particularly a problem at night, when exposure to blue light inhibits melatonin production which can affect sleep patterns. But the Galaxy S10 line’s display delicately manipulates the wavelength of blue OLED to remove the harmful energy, which means the device can be used for a long time with minimal damage to the user’s eyes.”

Previously, smartphone displays used regular software to reduce the amount of blue light emanating from the display. But the Galaxy S10 line harnesses a technology that reduces blue light exposure by 42% more than the previous technique, without compromising picture quality. “We have even received an Eye Comfort Certification from TÜV Rheinland,” enthused Yang. “Users will definitely notice than their eyes are less strained when using the Galaxy S10.”

Changing the Way We See Color

Key to the brilliant realism of the Galaxy S10 line’s Dynamic AMOLED display is its evolved color representation. Compared to previous Galaxy phones, the Galaxy S10 line is the most exceptional yet; DisplayMate’s Just Noticeable Color Difference (JNCD) unit measurement for Galaxy S10 is 0.4 JNCD (where the lower the value, the more realistic a color rendering is), up from the Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy S9’s ratings at 0.5 and 0.7 JNCD respectively.

This near-perfect color rendering also takes into account global user color preferences. “We identified that people read color differently depending on where they are from, their age, and their gender,” explained Yang. “To accommodate this, we asked over 2,000 people in 15 countries all around the world to provide their color preferences. We then analyzed their responses and, given the results, created two default color modes. ‘Natural Mode’ has a warmer tone to suit people in the US and Europe, whereas ‘Vivid Mode’ accents bluish tones for users in Asia.”

A Display to Match the Human Eye

On top of being able to render over 16 million colors, the Galaxy S10 line’s Dynamic AMOLED Display also supports high definition, providing the user with optimized high picture quality for every image, and as the world’s first smartphone display to support HDR10+, for every frame of a video, as well. Much like how the pupils in our eyes dilate and contract depending on the amount of light around us, the Galaxy S10’s display features Dynamic Tone Mapping technology that adjusts and optimizes picture quality according to the light-dark contrast on the screen.

The display has also received a ‘100% Mobile Color Volume’ certification for its realistic image rendering – the first smartphone range to ever do so. In order to achieve such display prowess, not only has Samsung been tirelessly working on AMOLED organic material research, but also on its proprietary picture quality engine, ‘mDNIe (Mobile Digital Natural Image Engine)’.

So what is the future of device display, as envisaged by Yang? “In the past, we began with black and white displays – TV screens – and the natural next step was to develop displays that presented images in color, moving closer to how we, as humans, perceive the world. Accordingly, we are to take this verisimilitude to the next level by making a display that brings together technology to provide a picture quality that matches the realism and substantiality of human vision.”

Samsung Electronics’ new Wireless PowerShare technology allows you to use your Galaxy S10 to recharge compatible smartphones and wearables1 without the need for additional cables. It’s a simple and convenient way to keep your devices powered up when you’re on the go.

To learn more about the development process behind the new flagship line’s powerhouse battery, Samsung Newsroom sat down with developers who helped bring the battery to life – Hyeonsu Lee, Hongjung Son, Yusu Kim and Juhyang Lee – as well as Product Planner Jeongmin Moon.

(Clockwise from left) Yusu Kim, Hyeonsu Lee, Hongjung Son, Juhyang Lee, and Jeongmin Moon

Changing Charging for the Better

According to Product Planner Jeongmin Moon, the development team incorporated Wireless PowerShare technology into the Galaxy S10 line to offer users the freedom to go about their day without being tied down by cables and chargers.

“We wanted to solve the inconvenience of having to carry around multiple chargers and cables when you’re out and about, or having to interrupt your day to stop at places like cafes just to charge your phone,” said Moon. “So we came up with the idea to essentially make the Galaxy S10 a wireless charger in and of itself.”

Since the release of the Galaxy S6, the first Galaxy device to offer wireless charging, more and more smartphones and wearables have begun to feature the technology as well. This, Yusu Kim noted, is another reason why Samsung prioritized incorporating wireless battery-sharing technology into the Galaxy S10 line.

“Wireless PowerShare allows you to easily share your battery’s power anytime, anywhere,” said Kim. “And as more devices begin to support wireless charging, more people will be able to experience the convenience that the technology creates.”

The technology behind wireless battery sharing and wireless charging is quite similar. A wireless charger receives DC (direct current) charge and converts it to AC (alternating current) with the battery coil before transmitting it to the receiving smartphone. The phone will then convert the AC charge back to DC and save the energy in the battery. Each Galaxy S10 device features a circuit that enables this two-way conversion, which essentially allows the phones serve as wireless chargers as well.

As mentioned above, the list of Wireless PowerShare-compatible devices includes not only smartphones, but, in an industry first, wearables1 like Samsung’s Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Buds as well. As Juhyang Lee explained, the process of enabling the technology to work with such a wide range of devices was quite a difficult task.

“The sizes of these devices’ batteries are all different, so the most difficult part of the process was finding an optimal spot for the receiving coils that would result in maximum efficiency,” Lee explained. With the smartwatch, she recalled “the receiving coil was particularly small, so it took some time to find the most efficient approach. However, after months and months of extensive research, we produced a solution that meets our strict reliability standards.”

A Smarter Approach to Battery Management

Of course, in order to share its charge with another device, your Galaxy S10’s battery must possess enough power to efficiently operate your phone. (At least 30 percent, to be precise.) To offer users more freedom to utilize this useful function, the Galaxy S10 line features AI technology that optimizes battery usage based on how you use your phone.

(From left) Hongjung Son and Hyeonsu Lee

When building this technology, the developers focused particularly on the battery consumption of infrequently used apps. As Hongjung Son explained, “Out of all the apps that users have on their phones, only a small number are used every day. And the ones that aren’t used consume battery power in the background.”

“To limit these apps’ background activities,” he continued, “we incorporated AI technology that organizes apps into different categories, such as ‘frequently used,’ ‘occasionally used,’ and ‘rarely used.’”

The team also enabled the new smartphones’ Adaptive Power Saving mode to activate automatically2 based on users’ usage patterns. Hyeonsu Lee described how it works: “If, for example, a user usually uses their phone for 30 minutes on their way to work, Adaptive Power Saving mode will automatically activate if their commute happens to get extended.”

“And because this mode is AI-powered,” he added, “the more it’s used, the more accurate it becomes.”

The efficiency of the Galaxy S10’s battery has been amplified with stronger hardware. At 7.8mm thick, it’s thinner than the Galaxy S9’s 8.5mm battery, and its capacity has been increased by 10 percent (from 3000-3500mAh to 3400-4100mAh)3.

A Powerful Vision

Each member of the product planning and development teams agrees that Samsung’s latest battery innovations will unlock unprecedented user experiences.

Moon concluded the interview by shedding some light on the company’s ultimate goals for its charging technology. “With Wireless PowerShare, we not only expect to resolve some of the inconvenient aspects of charging your devices,” said Moon. “We also expect people to communicate and engage with one another more.”

“Listening carefully to users’ feedback has enabled us to consistently improve our Galaxy smartphones,” added Kim, “and it will continue to do so. Going forward, we’ll continue to strive to develop battery technology that offers the very best in terms of users’ convenience and experience.”

1 Using Wireless PowerShare, you can charge Samsung and Qi-certified phones, and wearables such as Galaxy S9, S9+, S8, S8+, S8 Active, S7, S7 edge, S7 Active, S6, S6 edge, S6 Active, S6 edge+, Note9, Note8, Note FE, Note5, and wearables such as Galaxy Watch Active, Gear Sport, Gear S3, Galaxy Watch (46/42mm), and Galaxy Buds. It may not work with certain accessories, covers, or other brand devices. Wireless PowerShare may also affect call reception or data services, depending on your network environment.

2 Users may specify whether or not they’d like Adaptive Power Saving mode to automatically activate in their Galaxy S10’s settings.

Another bar-raising mobile display, another record-breaking rating from the industry’s authority on display technologies.

After a comprehensive evaluation process, DisplayMate Technologies has deemed the Galaxy S10’s display “the most color accurate display that we have ever tested, [and] almost certainly considerably better than your existing smartphone, 4K UHD TV, tablet, laptop, and computer monitor.” Like the Galaxy Note9 and Galaxy S9 before it, the Galaxy S10 established or matched several smartphone display performance records during DisplayMate’s extensive tests, ultimately becoming the latest flagship Galaxy device to earn the firm’s highest-ever “Excellent A+” grade.

Compared to the Galaxy S9, the Galaxy S10 offers markedly better outdoor visibility, power consumption, color accuracy, and more.

Featuring a peak luminance of 1215 nits, the Galaxy S10’s display produces crisp, vibrant visuals when users need them – such as when they’re outside and under direct sunlight, or in environments with lots of ambient light. And with a relative power efficiency rating of 1.54 watts – an improvement on the Galaxy S9’s 1.70-watt rating – the Galaxy S10’s display is not only brighter than last year’s model, but also more energy efficient.

In addition to being the first mobile display to support HDR10+, a next-generation open standard for high dynamic range (HDR) video, the Galaxy S10’s display has been verified by DisplayMate to offer record-setting color accuracy. Its 0.4 Just Noticeable Color Difference (JNCD) rating in the DCI-P3 color range is a marked improvement over the Galaxy S9’s 0.7 JNCD score. This means that the Galaxy S10’s display can be counted on to deliver outstanding picture quality, with a level of color accuracy that is, according to DisplayMate’s report, “virtually indistinguishable from perfect.”

To help users protect their eyes from blue light, which studies suggest can affect our ability to get a good night’s rest, the Galaxy S10 features built-in technology that reduces blue light by up to 42 percent.1 The display has also received a coveted ‘Eye Comfort’ certification from world-class German testing and certification body TÜV Rheinland for its record-low blue light output. Whereas conventional smartphone OLED panels’ visuals feature roughly 12 percent blue light, the Galaxy S10’s feature just seven percent – the lowest level in the business.

After detailing the display’s record-setting enhancements in his report, DisplayMate Technologies’ President, Dr. Raymond Soneira, noted that “What is particularly significant and impressive is that Samsung has been systematically improving OLED display performance with every Galaxy generation since 2010.”

The Galaxy S10 adds an exciting new chapter to that legacy, and underlines Samsung Electronics’ continued commitment to developing the most immersive displays on the market.

The Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+ and Galaxy S10e will officially launch on March 8 in select markets.

1 Compared to the previous display.

Samsung Electronics today announced that Galaxy S10+ has taken the number one rank on the DxOMark Selfie scale, a new ranking system to evaluate the image quality of smartphone front cameras. The new smartphone also earned a first place spot for its rear camera in the DxOMark Mobile scale.

DxOMark—the trusted industry standard for camera, lens and smartphone image quality measurements and ratings— conducts its DxOMark Selfie and DxOMark Mobile tests following a rigorous scientific protocol using industry-grade lab tools. The score sums up their engineers’ assessment of a devices’ photo and video quality to provide consumers with neutral and reliable test data about smartphone camera performance. DxOMark assigns sub-scores for Photo and Video quality and then combines them into an Overall score. The higher the score, the better the image quality.

Galaxy S10+ scored a standalone first place position on the DxOMark Selfie ranking for its front camera with a score of 96. The DxOMark Selfie test verifies that Galaxy S10+’s dual front camera helped push the new smartphone to the top of the list with its Dual Pixel Selfie camera and second RGB Depth camera. Galaxy S10+’s dual front camera supports artistic bokeh effects, and can shoot videos and pictures in up to UHD quality so you can elevate your social game.

Galaxy S10+ also received a joint number one position on the DxOMark Mobile ranking, with an Overall score of 109 (114 Photo score and 97 Video score), the highest score ever for a rear camera. To evaluate smartphone camera performance, DxOMark looked at Galaxy S10+’s triple rear camera for Exposure and Contrast, Color, Autofocus, Texture, Noise, Artifacts, Flash, Stabilization (for Video), Zoom and Bokeh.

Designed for consumers looking for a supercharged premium device, Galaxy S10+ is a testament to a decade of Galaxy innovations with its breakthrough display, new camera technology and intelligent performance. Building on Samsung’s camera leadership – Super Speed Dual Pixel and Dual Aperture – Galaxy S10+ introduces new camera technology and advanced intelligence that make it easy to take epic shots and videos. Among all of the innovations, Galaxy S10+’s pro-grade camera features:

Since introducing Bixby alongside the Galaxy S8 and S8+, Samsung Electronics has continuously enriched its AI platform with enhancements that have made it more intuitive, intelligent, and useful to users.

Now, with the introduction of the Galaxy S10 line, Samsung has taken Bixby to the next level – introducing new capabilities to Bixby Voice and Bixby Vision, as well as more ways to make users’ lives easier with personalized Bixby Routines.

Let’s take a closer look at how Bixby’s newest tools will help you streamline your day.

Simplify Your Routine

We all have our routines that help us manage our day, and time is, of course, precious. That’s why Samsung developed Bixby Routines – a clever feature that allows Bixby to learn your unique routines and recommend ways to save more time.

Bixby Routines utilizes machine learning to analyze your personal patterns and preferences based on how you use your phone. It uses that insight to suggest easily configurable routines – incorporating specific native apps, settings or features – that can instantly automate multiple tasks to make your life easier.

In addition to offering nine convenient preset options, Bixby Routines presents you with up to six personalized routines – based on how you use your phone at certain times and places – that minimize the steps required to get things done. For example, when you go to bed, your Galaxy S10 may run your personal “Before Bed” routine, which may include automatically turning on Night Mode, lowering the brightness, and muting sound. It’s as simple – and convenient – as that.

Instant Insight with Bixby Vision

Featuring a built-in AI that provides better image recognition and is capable of recognizing a wide range of objects, the camera’s enhanced Bixby Vision function places all-new AR capabilities at users’ fingertips.

Bixby Vision’s expanded Lens Mode features a variety of image-recognition options, including a new Wish List option. When you see a product you’re interested in buying, Wish List makes it easy to save it for later reference.1

The new Apps Mode offers users more convenient ways to utilize AR in their everyday lives. Use it to, for instance, virtually try on a new pair of sunglasses or some new makeup, or see how your hair would look dyed, or how your living space would look if you added an appliance or piece of furniture that you’re interested in buying.2

Apps Mode also makes it easy to learn more about movies you’re interested in through its new Picture Play3 feature. When you see a poster for an upcoming release, simply show it to Bixby and it’ll instantly play the trailer.

Hands-Free Convenience

Galaxy device users are used to asking Bixby to help them search the web, make a reservation, or launch an app when their hands are full. Now, Bixby’s new Voice Unlock4 feature allows you to activate and interact with Bixby when your phone is locked for an even more comfortable user experience.

Bixby Voice Unlock creates a convenient way to utilize Bixby when your phone is out of reach. Say you’re in the middle of making dinner and you need to double check exactly how much of a particular ingredient the recipe calls for. With Bixby Voice Unlock, rather than smudging up your screen with sauce and bits of food, you can simply say “Hi Bixby” to unlock your phone, and then ask Bixby to pull up the recipe for you.

Make Bixby Your Own

To offer users more freedom to utilize Bixby’s handy button, the Galaxy S10 introduces Bixby Key Customization.5 Now, you can customize the button to launch Bixby with either a single or double press, and map the other option to launch your favorite app or Quick command. It’s just another convenient way to make Bixby your own.

Speaking of Quick commands, Bixby’s update also makes it easy to share customized Quick commands with your friends.

Quick commands make using Bixby even more convenient by allowing you to replace one or more commands with a simple word or phrase. The opportunities for personalization are endless, and your Quick commands can also be saved as shortcut icons on your phone’s home screen for easy access.6 This is especially useful in situations when you’d rather not speak out loud. So for example, when you’re heading into a theater, if you tap the icon for your “Movie Time” Quick command, Bixby will instantly switch your phone to silent mode, turn on “Do not disturb,” reduce brightness completely, and turn off the screen so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the film without interruptions.

And now, with the Galaxy S10, if you’ve crafted the perfect Quick command and you want to send it to someone else, you can simply tap “share” to instantly send it as a link via text message or messaging app.7

The company also announced exciting partnerships that will enable Galaxy S10 users to capture and share moments in dynamic new ways, and revealed three new wearables – the Galaxy Buds, Galaxy Watch Active and Galaxy Fit – that will change how users enjoy their favorite music and keep track of their fitness.

It was an event that celebrated a decade of Galaxy innovation by adding a new chapter that history – one that points to a faster, bolder and brighter future for mobile technologies. In case you missed it, check out the photos below to see how Samsung’s showcase unfolded.

At its core, the Galaxy S10 line was created to offer users more. More choices than ever before, which means more control over your mobile experience, and more powerful innovations that help you do what you can’t.

By introducing an array of industry-first technologies, including next-generation display, camera and performance upgrades, the Galaxy S10 points the way to a faster, bolder, and brighter future. In other words, Samsung Electronics’ new flagship family has taken the Galaxy experience that users love and refined and reimagined it for a brand new era.

A Premium Design

The Galaxy S10 lineup is composed of four unique devices: the Galaxy S10, S10+, S10e and S10 5G. Each features a premium design that builds on the Galaxy series’ signature heritage, and raises the bar for smartphones to follow.

The Galaxy S10 takes the barely there top and bottom bezels that have become synonymous with Samsung’s flagship phones and reduces them even further. This creates more room to watch movies, read books, and play games on the immersive, 19:9 Infinity-O Display. The devices also feature an in-display camera design that maximizes screen real estate by packing sensors and camera technologies into a tiny hole.

Even with their larger screens and more immersive visuals, the Galaxy S10 models feature slimmer and lighter1 designs than last year’s editions, and offer users a comfortable one-handed grip. Each Galaxy S10 is available in a variety of attractive colors, including Prism White, Prism Black, Prism Green, Prism Blue, Flamingo Pink and Canary Yellow. Additional color variants include Ceramic Black and Ceramic White.2

An Epic Camera

The Galaxy S10’s intuitive camera brings images to life through a combination of new technologies and advanced intelligence.

Step up your photo game with a set of powerful lenses that lets you capture more moments in exquisite detail. Each Galaxy S10 comes equipped with Samsung’s all-new 123-degree Ultra Wide lens – which features a field of view that’s similar to the human eye, and allows you to capture the world exactly as you see it – as well as a 12MP, Wide-angle, Dual Aperture, Super Speed Dual Pixel lens. The Galaxy S10 and S10+’s triple rear camera setup also includes a 12MP Telephoto (zoom) lens, and the Galaxy S10 5G’s quad rear camera setup features an additional 3D Depth Camera, which improves the quality of portrait-style images.

Each Galaxy S10 also comes equipped with a 10MP, UHD, Dual Pixel front-facing camera that’s perfect for taking high-quality selfies. On the Galaxy S10+ and S10 5G, it’s paired with an RGB depth lens for added capabilities.

Working behind the scenes to help you snap stellar pics is a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) that streamlines image processing and makes features like Scene Optimizer even better. The camera also takes video recording to the next level with its Super Steady video stabilization technology, which lets you take fluid videos during even your most active moments – like when you’re in the middle of an amazing concert or on a bumpy bike ride. And in an industry first, the rear camera also allows you to record in HDR10+ for brilliantly detailed videos.

A ‘Dynamic’ Display

The Galaxy series has a history of introducing groundbreaking display technologies, and the Galaxy S10 adds an exciting new chapter to that legacy.

Capable of producing over 16 million colors, with 100 percent mobile color volume in the DCI-P3 color range, the Galaxy S10’s Dynamic AMOLED display offers extraordinary contrast for even deeper blacks and brighter whites. It features a peak luminance of 1200 nits, and it’s the first mobile display to support HDR10+: a next-generation open standard for HDR video. This powerful combination of industry-leading specs allows the display to depict content in incredible detail.

The Dynamic AMOLED display also includes an in-display fingerprint-recognition system that adds new levels of comfort and security to unlocking your phone. Samsung’s new in-display Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner utilizes ultrasonic waves to map out your fingerprint’s unique pattern, and features an anti-spoofing algorithm that enables it to recognize your real, physical fingerprint and reject images or copies of it.

Powerful Charging Options

In addition to boasting support for Fast Wireless Charging 2.0, the Galaxy S10 features an all-new wireless charging innovation that will change how you power your other devices.

The Galaxy S10’s Wireless PowerShare3 technology allows you to share your power with compatible phones and wearables when they need it most. This means that if you’re away from an outlet and your Galaxy Buds are running low on power, you’ll be able to charge them up by simply placing their case on the back of your phone. It’s as simple as that. The Galaxy S10 also includes dual charging support, which allows you to charge your phone and another compatible device simultaneously using a single wired charger.

With the introduction of the Galaxy S10 line, Samsung Electronics has once again demonstrated how it is steering the future of the smartphone screen. The company’s newest flagships take its display technology to the next level, offering users a more brilliant and realistic picture, along with an in-display camera design that maximizes screen real estate, and a first-of-its-kind Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner.

Put simply, the Galaxy S10 features the most beautiful display that the Galaxy family has ever seen. If you thought you’d seen immersive before, you haven’t seen anything yet.

O So Beautiful

The Galaxy S10 introduces Samsung’s new, 19:9 Infinity-O Display, which maximizes screen space to offer users more room to do more, more comfortably. Bezels have been reduced to create more space for what matters most, like watching movies, reading books, and playing games. In fact, compared to the Galaxy S9, the ultra-slim top bezel has been decreased by more than three times.1

To free up even more pixels for users’ content, the Galaxy S10 features an in-display camera design that packs an array of sensors and camera technologies into a small space. Samsung used a proprietary laser cutting technology to carve a tiny hole in the display – while minimizing damage to the surrounding pixels – that would enable users to enjoy all the essential camera and sensor technologies without losing any screen.

Perfecting this aspect of the design enabled Samsung to craft a revolutionary display that covers the entire front of the phone and makes everything from watching a movie to playing games that much more immersive and enjoyable.

In addition, users can trust that whatever activity they’re engaged in, thanks to its use of Gorilla Glass 6, which is twice as durable as Gorilla Glass 5, the Galaxy S10 is built to last.2

Cinema Screen

The Galaxy S10’s new Dynamic AMOLED display fosters truly cinematic viewing experiences. Featuring a peak luminance of 1200 nits, the display is capable of producing over 16 million colors (36 percent better color range than SDR), with 100 percent mobile color volume in the DCI-P3 color range.

When tested by the experts at DisplayMate, the Dynamic AMOLED display received a 0.4 Just Noticeable Color Difference (JNCD) score. An improvement on the Galaxy S9’s 0.7 JNCD rating, this score confirms the Galaxy S10’s exceptionally accurate color reproduction. In other words, the colors you see on Samsung’s new smartphones are a near-perfect match to colors in real life.

The company’s latest groundbreaking display is also the first smartphone display in the world to support HDR10+: a next-generation open standard for high dynamic range (HDR) video. HDR10+ support effectively delivers cinema-quality visuals to users’ pockets by enabling compatible content to be depicted precisely as the creators intended. This means that when streaming a favorite film, for instance, colors are more accurate, and the viewing experience is more immersive.

The display utilizes dynamic tone mapping technology to optimize colors from scene to scene, and to produce better contrast between light and dark scenes. It also optimizes brightness levels so that even the smallest details look beautiful, and produces true black colors3 for better shadow detail, even in low-light conditions.

The Galaxy S10’s Dynamic AMOLED display utilizes dynamic tone mapping to produce a brilliant, realistic picture

The Galaxy S10’s bright, brilliant screen ensures that colors are crisp even under harsh sunlight. So when you’re out and about or lounging by the pool, the sun won’t stop you from catching up on a favorite show, or checking out that video clip your friend just sent.

Beefed-Up Biometric Security

Embedded beneath the Dynamic AMOLED display is Samsung’s new, in-display Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner,4 which offers vault-like security to keep your device safe.

The scanner works by emitting ultrasonic waves that map the unique pattern of your fingerprint by sensing the tiny air gaps between your finger and the screen. That wave data is then sent back to the scanner and analyzed by the phone’s main chipset in order to determine whether it’s a match.

It works in the blink of an eye, and features 3D anti-spoofing technology that applies a machine learning-based algorithm to the on-screen fingerprint to offer a high level of security. This ensures that your phone will only open once it’s registered your physical fingerprint, and not an image of it. Its security is backed by the world’s first FIDO Alliance Biometric Component certification, and it’s been tested to work in the most challenging of conditions, including in sub-zero temperatures and under bright sunlight.

Easy on the Eyes

Comfort is key when it comes to the Galaxy S10, which is why Samsung optimized its newest flagships with innovations that make these beautiful devices even easier on the eyes.

If you regularly check your phone before going to bed, you’re likely familiar with blue light emissions, which studies indicate can affect your sleep. The Dynamic AMOLED display has been certified by the experts at TÜV Rheinland to reduce blue light by a full 42 percent,5 which can help users protect their eyes. Best of all, in addition to making it easier for users to get a good night’s rest, the smartphones’ blue light-reducing technology doesn’t require filters, and won’t compromise the display’s picture quality.

To offer users greater comfort and convenience, each Galaxy S10 also features a comfortable, lightweight design, as well as Samsung’s revolutionary One UI. The latter features a clean, intuitive interface that reduces clutter to help users stay focused, and places important information at the bottom of the display to enable them to comfortably manage their device with one hand. It also includes a built-in Night Mode that optimizes the display for nighttime viewing, and allows users to seamlessly transition to darker environments.

1 Figure describes the Galaxy S10

2 The Galaxy S10e’s display features Gorilla Glass 5.

Smartphone users count on Galaxy devices to deliver a camera experience that’s second to none. That’s because Samsung Electronics packs each new addition to the Galaxy family with innovations that make it easier for users to capture more moments in exceptional detail.

The Galaxy S10 line builds on Samsung’s camera leadership – which includes the company’s game-changing Super Speed Dual Pixel and Dual Aperture technologies – by introducing a slew of exciting enhancements and even more advanced intelligence. Together, these innovations offer users all the tools they need to take truly epic shots and videos.

See More, Snap More

Each Galaxy S10 is like a professional-grade camera that fits in your pocket. The devices’ easy-to-use cameras were designed to allow you to capture any shot and angle. So no matter what you’re shooting, you’ll always have the right lens for the job.

At 123-degrees, the rear camera’s new 16MP Ultra Wide lens features a field of view that’s similar to the human eye. It covers approximately 4.3 times more area1 than a 77-degree Wide-angle lens, and allows you to capture the world as you see it. Perfect for taking epic landscape shots, big panoramas (both horizontally and vertically), or simply fitting the entire family into a photo, the Ultra Wide lens ensures that you’re always able to capture the full scene.

Pictures taken with Galaxy S10’s Wide-angle (left) and Ultra Wide lens

Each Galaxy S10’s rear camera setup also includes a 12MP Wide-angle, Dual Aperture, Super Speed Dual Pixel lens. It combines an f/1.5-aperture lens with an f/2.4, and automatically adjusts to light just like our eyes to help users snap professional-looking photos, day or night. The Galaxy S10 and S10+’s triple rear camera setup also includes a 12MP Telephoto (zoom) lens. For those times when you need to get a little closer to your subject, the Telephoto lens provides two times optical zoom and ten times digital zoom.

Each Galaxy S10 comes equipped with a 10MP UHD Dual Pixel front-facing camera that’s perfect for taking high-quality selfies. The Galaxy S10+’s dual front camera setup offers improved megapixels and super-fast autofocus,2 and includes an RGB depth lens for enhanced quality of bokeh effects.

A Smarter Way to Shoot

The Galaxy S10’s hardware is complemented by a next-generation Neural Processing Unit (NPU) – a layer of intelligence for all your photos – that streamlines image processing and makes already smart features better.

The addition of the advanced NPU makes the camera’s Scene Optimizer function that much more powerful. Now, Scene Optimizer is capable of analyzing even more complex scenes, and can simultaneously process more image recognition data than before. The camera recognizes up to 30 different types of scenes in all (up from 20 with the Galaxy Note9), including “Face,” “Baby,” “Dog,” “Vehicles,” and more. The function will also automatically optimize the color, saturation, white balance and contrast in order to ensure that the image you see on your screen appears as true to life as possible.

Pictures (right) taken with Scene Optimizer

When the camera recognizes specific scenes, it will also suggest other ways to potentially improve your photo. For example, if you’re taking a picture of a sunrise, the camera will automatically ask you if you’d like to switch to the Ultra Wide lens to ensure that you capture the scene in all its glory. If you’re taking a picture in extreme low-light conditions, it will propose that you take a Bright Night Shot for a professional-quality picture.

The camera also offers users instant, automatic recommendations on how to best frame their photo through its Shot Suggestion feature. Utilizing a database of over 100 million pictures, Shot Suggestion’s composition guide offers helpful tips to help you improve your photo’s proportions, positioning and overall composition.

The camera’s upgraded Live Focus mode allows you to customize your photos with artistic effects. The Galaxy S10+ utilizes its dual front cameras to support the feature, which includes options to add new spin bokeh, zoom bokeh, and color point effects, while the Galaxy S10 and S10e’s front-facing camera utilizes the NPU’s intelligence.

(From left) Live Focus’s new spin bokeh, zoom bokeh and color point effects

Silky Smooth Videos

Recorded videos are so much smoother with the Galaxy S10, thanks to groundbreaking innovations that ensure that users’ footage looks fantastic.

The camera’s Super Steady video-recording feature is the first of its kind on a smartphone, and offers users up to three times better video stabilization than conventional technologies. Powered by anti-shake stabilization technology (VDIS), Super Steady evens out shaky footage, allowing you to record fluid video during even your most active moments. So whether you’re dancing at a concert or recording a bumpy bike ride, with the Galaxy S10, the content you capture will be nice and steady.

Both the front and rear cameras are capable of recording pro-grade UHD footage, which allows users to step up their social game with true-to-life video quality. And in another smartphone first, the rear camera offers users the ability to take their recordings to the next level by capturing them in stunning HDR10+.

Utilizing dynamic tone mapping technology that provides 2.1 times broader color range than SDR, the Galaxy S10 allows you to take videos that are brighter and more dynamic than those taken with other smartphone cameras. That’s because the camera uses tone mapping techniques to go frame-by-frame and optimize the color for every scene.

A New AR Emoji Experience

Samsung’s latest flagships offer users a brand new AR Emoji experience, highlighted by a revamped design, greater customization options, and the ability to track not just your face but also your eyes, tongue and body movements, including your arms and legs.

AR Emoji’s new Mask Mode offers a fun way to touch up a less-than-stellar photo. Not satisfied with the expression you made in your last shot? Simply choose an AR Emoji that nails the emotion you want to express, and place its face over yours.

Users can also customize their AR Emojis like never before. In addition to choosing from the dozens of expressive stickers that are created for each AR Emoji, you can create your very own stickers, featuring unique backgrounds, expressions and other personal touches. Users who download AR World from the Galaxy Store app will also be able to access tons of new hairstyles, outfits and accessories that’ll make their AR Emoji even more unique.

Samsung’s Most Epic Cameras Yet

In addition to placing more fun and convenient features at users’ fingertips, the Galaxy S10 line’s powerful cameras allow you to capture moments in more detail – and with more lenses – than ever before.

The Galaxy S10 5G truly packs the power of a professional-grade camera into your phone by offering a total of six lenses – two on the front and four on the back. In addition to featuring all of the lenses included in the Galaxy S10+, the 5G model introduces Samsung’s next-generation 3D Depth Camera.

This innovative camera allows the device to accurately capture depth by measuring the length of time it takes for an infrared light signal to bounce off the photograph’s subject. The camera uses the resulting depth information to improve the quality of portrait-style images, and to power exciting new features like Video Live focus and Quick Measure. The former allows you to apply cinema-quality bokeh effects to recorded videos, while the latter enables you to use your phone to instantly measure distance, area or volume.

1 At a distance of approximately one meter.

2 Super-fast autofocus is included in the front cameras of the Galaxy S10e, S10, S10+ and S10 5G, as well as in the rear cameras of the Galaxy S10, S10+ and S10 5G.

Brand new power-sharing capabilities, AI-powered performance enhancement, and Intelligent Wi-Fi support make Samsung Electronics’ newest flagships its smartest devices yet. Let’s examine some of the ways that these exciting innovations will change how users connect, charge and power through their day.

Sharing Is Caring

Samsung’s Galaxy S10 offerings are not only incredibly powerful in and of themselves. They also come packed with cutting-edge technologies that add a whole new dimension to powering other mobile devices.

The smartphones’ built-in charging pad and new Wireless PowerShare technology allow users to use their phone to easily recharge compatible Qi-certified smartphones, and even wearables.1 This means that if your Galaxy Buds or Galaxy Watch Active are running low on power, you can top off their charge with your Galaxy S10. There’s no need for additional plugs or cables when sharing battery power, which makes the function perfect for urgent situations when you just can’t find an outlet.

The Galaxy S10 also allows you to charge your phone and another compatible device simultaneously using a single wired charger. This is especially handy when traveling, as it allows users to leave more cords and chargers at home.

The smartphones’ support for Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 enables them to charge up to 33 percent2 faster than the Galaxy S9 when using Samsung’s new Wireless Charging Duo Pad, which also features a Turbo Cooling Fan that reduces heat for faster, safer charging. The Galaxy S10’s support for this technology allows it to spend less time on charging docks and more time in your hands, ready to streamline your day.

Personalized Performance

Because each of us utilizes our smartphone differently, the Galaxy S10 features advanced, AI-powered software that optimizes performance based on users’ unique usage patterns.

The smartphones’ Intelligent Performance Enhancer automatically adjusts settings for the battery, CPU, RAM, and even the temperature of your device to ensure stable, snappy performance. So frequently used apps launch faster, games run smoother, and your phone works harder when you need it the most. And because the technology constantly learns and adjusts based on your personal habits, it becomes more tailored and useful the more you use your phone.

The devices also feature an Adaptive Power Saving mode, which optimizes battery performance based on app use. This innovative technology categorizes apps into five groups based on how often they’re used, and regulates power usage to help you get the most out of your phone’s battery.

Support for Smarter Wi-Fi

The Galaxy S10 also introduces a dynamic duo of technologies designed to bring an end to the days of spotty Wi-Fi connections.

The first, Intelligent Wi-Fi, allows the devices to seamlessly switch between Wi-Fi and LTE networks in order to foster safe and uninterrupted connections. It uses machine learning to recognize when you’re in an enclosed location where the Wi-Fi might be unreliable, such as an elevator, and it can tell when you’re on the move, like when you’re in a car or walking down the street. As soon as your Galaxy S10 registers changes like these, it will quickly and seamlessly switch to an LTE network connection, so you don’t miss a beat. In fact, it switches from Wi-Fi to data more than twice as fast as before.

Intelligent Wi-Fi can also help users steer clear of Wi-Fi networks that may put them at risk for phishing and malware attacks. The technology protects your phone against potentially malicious IP connections in advance, and will warn you before you’re able to connect. Should your phone encounter a risky Wi-Fi connection, it will alert you with a pop-up asking whether you’d still like to connect.

The Galaxy S10 devices are also the first phones to boast support for the next generation of Wi-Fi technology: Wi-Fi 6.3 Up to 20 percent faster than the previous Wi-Fi standard, Wi-Fi 6 takes downloading and uploading content to the next level. The smartphones’ support for the technology opens the door for much faster downloads – enabling users to download multi-gigabit movie files in mere seconds.

In crowded areas, such as airports and concert venues, Wi-Fi 6 allows users to enjoy four times faster network connections than other users in the same location. And perhaps best of all, because it consumes less battery than other Wi-Fi standards, it enables your phone to save power for when you need it most.

The Power to Do More

We’ve only just scratched the surface of the Galaxy S10’s performance upgrades – and there’s plenty to be excited about.

In addition to allowing users to seamlessly switch between Wi-Fi and LTE connections, the Galaxy S10 offers the fastest LTE speeds available. The devices are the first in the world to support download speeds of up to 2.0Gbps – an improvement of 0.8Gbps when compared to the Galaxy S9 – which means users can stream and connect faster than ever before. And speaking of speed, the Galaxy S10 5G, Samsung’s first 5G smartphone, is primed to take connection speeds to bold new levels by opening the door for users to experience network speeds up to roughly 20 times faster than 4G.

The devices also feature a next-generation 7/8 nm application processor (AP)4 that significantly upgrades CPU and GPU performance – by 29 percent and 37 percent, respectively – when compared to the Galaxy S9. The Galaxy S10+ is also available with 12GB of RAM5 – a first for the Galaxy series – which enables users to experience truly flawless multitasking.

Lastly, the Galaxy S10 line introduces the highest storage capacity ever available on a Galaxy device. The Galaxy S10+ is available with a whopping 1TB6 of built-in storage, and offers users the ability to add an additional 512GB of memory via microSD card,7 for a total of 1.5TB of storage space! That’s enough memory for approximately 768 movies, and enough space to put the days of deleting photos, videos and apps to make room for more behind you.

Celebrating a decade since the launch of the first Galaxy S, Samsung Electronics introduces a new line of premium smartphones: Galaxy S10. With four unique devices, the Galaxy S10 line is engineered to meet the distinct needs of today’s smartphone market, so consumers can do more of what they love. Each device delivers a next-generation experience in the categories consumers care about most: groundbreaking innovations in display, camera and performance.

A testament to a decade of innovations, Galaxy S10 is designed for those who want a premium smartphone with powerful performance and sets the stage for the next generation of mobile experiences. For consumers looking for a supercharged device, Galaxy S10+ takes every spec – from display, to camera, to performance – to the next level. Galaxy S10e is built for those who want all the premium essentials in a compact package on a flat screen. Finally, Galaxy S10 5G is created for those who want more of everything and are ready for the fastest available speeds and the most powerful features. Featuring the all-new Dynamic AMOLED display, next-generation camera, and intelligent performance, the Galaxy S10 line offers consumers more choices and sets a new standard for the smartphone.

“Since its launch ten years ago, the Galaxy S series has stood for premium innovation – offering consumers an incredible experience, and the ability to find the device that’s right for them,” said DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics. “Galaxy S10 builds on that incredible legacy, and delivers breakthrough display, camera, and performance innovations. With four premium devices, each built for a unique consumer in mind, Samsung is leveraging a decade of industry leadership to usher in a new era of smartphone technology.”

Introducing the Dynamic AMOLED Display: Full Screen Experience with Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner

Galaxy S10 is made with Samsung’s best screen yet, the world’s first Dynamic AMOLED display. As the first HDR10+-certified smartphone, the display delivers vivid digital content, and with dynamic tone mapping, you’ll see a wider range of color for a brilliant, realistic picture. Galaxy S10’s Dynamic AMOLED display is also VDE-certified for vibrant bright colors1 and extraordinary contrast ratio for even deeper blacks and brighter whites2.

Verified by DisplayMate, you’ll also enjoy exceptionally accurate colors on your mobile device3– even in harsh sunlight. What’s more, the Dynamic AMOLED display also reduces blue light through its TÜV Rheinland-certified Eye Comfort display4 without compromising picture quality or adding a filter.

The result of a groundbreaking engineering process, Galaxy S10’s unique Infinity-O Display packs an array of sensors and camera technology into a hole-in display – so you can maximize your screen real estate without any distractions.

Galaxy S10’s Dynamic AMOLED display also includes the first-ever in-display Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner5 that reads the 3D contours of your physical thumbprint – not a 2D image of it – for improved anti-spoofing. With the world’s first FIDO Alliance Biometric Component certification, this next generation biometrics authentication offers vault-like security to keep your device safe.

Pro-Grade Camera

Building on Samsung’s camera leadership of Dual Pixel and Dual Aperture firsts, Galaxy S10 introduces new camera technology and advanced intelligence that makes it easy to take epic shots and videos:

Ultra Wide Lens: A first for the S Series, Galaxy S10 offers an Ultra Wide Lens with a 123-degree field of view, like the human eye, so what you see is what’s in frame. Perfect for impressive landscape shots, big panoramas and even fitting the entire extended family into the photo, the Ultra Wide Lens ensures that you’ll always be able to capture the full scene.

Super Steady & High-Quality Video Recording: Galaxy S10 offers Super Steady recording with digital stabilization technology. Whether you’re dancing in the middle of an amazing concert or trying to record every detail of a bumpy bike ride, Super Steady allows you to capture the moment. Both front and rear cameras can shoot in up to UHD quality, and in an industry first, the rear camera gives you the flexibility to record in HDR10+6.

AI Camera: Galaxy S10 makes already smart features more accurate with a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) so you can get pro-grade shots worth sharing without having to manually select any advanced camera settings. Scene Optimizer can now recognize and more accurately process additional scenes because of the NPU. And with Shot Suggestion, Galaxy S10 offers automatic composition recommendations so you can frame your photo better than ever.

Intelligent Performance Features to Help You Get the Most Out of Your Phone

Galaxy S10 is built with premium hardware and machine-learning-based software that works hard so you don’t have to. From brand new power sharing capabilities to AI-powered performance enhancement and Intelligent Wi-Fi, Galaxy S10 is Samsung’s most intelligent device yet, from the inside out.

Wireless PowerShare7: Samsung introduces Wireless PowerShare on Galaxy S10, making it possible to easily charge Qi-certified smartphones and even compatible wearable devices. In addition, Galaxy S10 is capable of charging itself and a second device simultaneously via Wireless PowerShare8, while connected to a regular charger, enabling you to leave your second charger at home while on a trip.

Intelligent Performance: The new AI software on the Galaxy S10 automatically optimizes battery, CPU, RAM, and even device temperature based on how you use your phone and continues to learn and get better over time. Leveraging AI-capabilities, Galaxy S10 also learns how you use your device to launch your most frequently used apps faster.

Intelligent Wi-Fi: Galaxy S10 comes with Intelligent Wi-Fi that allows for an uninterrupted and safe connection by seamlessly switching between Wi-Fi and LTE, as well as alerting you of potentially risky Wi-Fi Galaxy S10 also supports the new Wi-Fi 6 standard, making it possible for better Wi-Fi performance when connected to a compatible router.

Bixby Routines: On Galaxy S10, Bixby automates your routines and provides personalized recommendations to make your life easier. With pre-set and personalized routines, such as Driving and Before Bed routines, which are customized based on your habits, Galaxy S10 makes things simpler by automatically reducing device touches and cutting steps out of your day9.

A New Era of 5G Connectivity

Just as it did with 2G, 3G and 4G, Samsung is leading the way with 5G—working with major carriers to develop and deploy 5G networking technology. Now, Samsung is putting the power of 5G in consumers’ hands with Galaxy S10 5G, Samsung’s first flagship 5G smartphone. With Galaxy S10 5G, consumers on a 5G network can download a full season of a TV show in minutes, play graphics-rich cloud games with virtually no lag, enjoy enhanced VR and AR experiences and stay in touch with friends and family via real-time 4K video calls. To take full advantage of 5G connectivity, Galaxy S10 5G features the largest-ever Galaxy S series display, the 6.7-inch Infinity-O Display; Samsung’s 3D Depth Camera for 3D-image capturing to power Video Live focus and Quick Measure; powered by 4,500mAh with Super Fast Charging at 25W.

The Best Comes Standard: Galaxy Foundation and Next Level Ecosystem

The Galaxy S10 line offers everything you have come to expect from the Galaxy S series and more—including Fast Wireless Charging 2.0, IP68 water and dust resistance10, a next-generation processor and Samsung services like Bixby, Samsung Health, Samsung Pay and Samsung DeX. You will get the largest storage capacity available on a Galaxy device – the S10+ even comes with 1TB of built-in storage11 – and the ability to add an additional 512GB microSD card for up to 1.5TB12.

Speed: Galaxy S10 gives you the capability to access next-generation Wi-Fi 613, which gives you prioritized and four times faster access14 over other users in crowded areas, like an airport.
