Up Close and Personal: Getting the Most Out of Your UHD TV
Advancements in TV display technology have allowed manufacturers to produce high resolution HD screens that are larger and more detailed than ever before. All this is possible without sacrificing HD brilliance, and when it comes to size and distance, bigger and closer is usually better for getting the most out of your TV viewing experience. Samsung offers UHD TVs up to 105 inch and SUHD TVs up to 88 inch, both capable of playing 4K video.
One of the best advantages of these innovations in technology is that they help you get closer to the action than ever before. The higher pixel density of UHD TV allows viewers to sit close without worrying about eye strain. While watching TV for many hours may cause some people discomfort, it is usually the result of focusing on a bright object in an otherwise dark space. This causes the pupils to become more dilated. A bigger screen may seem counterintuitive, but the larger size actually fills more of the field of view, reducing the contrast between the brightness of the TV and the darkness of the room. This will decrease the tendency of overall eye fatigue. You can also lower the light output of your TV by reducing the backlight control. Lowering this setting, especially at night, will make watching TV much easier.
Immerse Yourself
For a truly immersive viewing experience, the ideal size of your TV depends on the distance you plan to sit from the screen. The better the image quality, the closer you should sit to see the full potential of your display.
UHD offers four times the number of pixels, and the more pixels, the more incredible the detail. With UHD and SUHD TVs, you can sit closer without image pixilation, getting more vivid detail than ever before.
Sitting too far from a UHD TV means your eyes will separate the pixels, and the image quality will not be fully realized. A good general rule to determine the optimal distance for watching 4K UHD TV or SUHD TV is to divide the size of the display in inches by ten, then multiply that number by feet. For example, for a 50 inch display, you should sit within five feet to see the full effect.
This chart helps illustrate how the optimal viewing distance decreases as the pixel quality increases.
The Right Angle
Viewing angles are another important factor in enjoying the best picture quality. Ideally, your TV should be parallel to your eyes, with no more than a 15 degree angle up or down and no more than a 40 degree angle to the left or right. If you are seated at a sharp angle, you may not be able to see the image clearly, as it is meant to be viewed.
Up Close and Personal
TV has played a large role in our lives since its introduction. Getting the best display quality from your TV is important in building bonding time with family, friends and in other relationships. UHD and SUHD offer viewers the opportunity to enjoy all your media more closely and in more detail than ever before, and Samsung continues to push the limits of high quality displays.
