What’s App-ening? Spring 2012 (Part I)

Now surpassing 1.2 billion cumulative accesses and going from 100 apps from its conception in February of 2010 to over 1,700 today in just two years, Samsung Apps (the world’s first HDTV-based app store) shows no sign of slowing down.  Available in 150 countries, supporting 60 languages, it caters to the needs of the users with 65% the apps being locally specialized.

Samsung Apps has grown not only in size but also in popularity at an impressive rate. Consumers around the world access the store 2.7 million times per day. Also, seeking innovation and creativity wherever it may be found, Samsung continues to hold “Apps Contests” across the globe and also facilitates a forum for Smart TV application developers.

Samsung Developer Forum

Through the Samsung Developer Forum (SDF) which opened in 2009, the company is encouraging information exchange among developers and providing technological supports to developers. As of now, a staggering 25,000 developers join the Forum, growing as the largest Smart TV application developer forum. Furthermore, Samsung also continues to actively support developers with the distribution of its Samsung Development Kit (SDK), which allows developers to create TV-optimized applications more easily. Last January, SDK 3.0 was updated through the Forum.
