New devices and ground-breaking partnerships for all kinds of gamers



For the young digital natives of today, gaming is an intrinsic part of their everyday lives. The Samsung Southeast Asia and Oceania (SEAO) Gaming Insight Study found that more than half of gamers surveyed (56%) indulge in gaming more than a few times a week. This group of gamers are made up of both Gaming Enthusiasts and Hardcore Gamers, and spend a significant amount of time deeply engaged in gaming-related activities such as watching gaming videos, discussing gaming within their communities, and staying updated on gaming news.


These findings closely align with the region’s large Millennial and Gen Z population, who demonstrate a passion for gaming. In response to this, Samsung continues to push for an enhanced gaming experience for all kinds of gamers in the Philippines by launching new partnerships and devices.

 [1] Conducted in partnership with ONE Esports, over 6,800 consumers aged 18 to 49 across seven markets (Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam) were surveyed in the last quarter of 2022.

Organized by the Game Developers Association of the Philippines, the first Philippine GameDev Expo (PGDX) gathered everyone who enjoys a great game. Whether  you’re a hardcore gamer, a game developer, or simply someone who wants to know what gaming is all about, there was much to discover and experience at the PGDX last August 18-20. As one of the major participants, Samsung took the opportunity to allow attendees to experience for themselves the newly-launched Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 and the Odyssey NEO G9.



The Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 allows users to go beyond the kind of gaming experience they know and are familiar with. The OLED screen enhanced with Neo Quantum Processor Pro brings brighter whites, deeper blacks, and near infinite color contrast. It also has 0.03ms response time on the 240Hz refresh rate screen, allowing users to react to opponent’s every move quicker than ever on the lightning-fast screen. Additionally, it offers instant access to 0.03ms response time on the 240Hz refresh rate screen, letting you react to your opponent’s every move quicker than ever on the lightning-fast screen.


Meanwhile, the Samsung Odyssey NEO G9 is the world’s first dual UHD monitor that gives users a more immersive experience with a superwide 57” screen and 1000R curvature. It also has spellbinding visual quality, offering Quantum Mini-LED and HDR 1000 for higher accuracy, definition, and brightness. It also has a 240HZ refresh rate, 1MS response time, and FreeSync Premium Pro. 


Also on display during the PGDX was the Samsung Odyssey Ark. Specifically designed to overwhelm the senses, it resembles a personal gaming theater with its 55-inch 1000R curved screen with Quantum Mini-LED. The Odyssey Ark also offers Sound Dome Technology for immersive surround sound, 165MHz refresh rate, 1ms response time, and FreeSync Premium Pro. With the Cockpit Mode, you can rotate the screen and pivot functionality for an optimal screen environment. 


The first Samsung gaming Shop-in-Shop partnership with PC Express


To provide an optimal gaming experience means being easily accessible to all kinds of gamers, which is why Samsung launched its first Shop-in-Shop partnership with PC Express, one of the country’s leading computer retailers. This is Samsung’s first concept store specifically for gamers, and is located at the PC Express branch in SM Makati Cyberzone. Coinciding with the launch was a Tekken Tournament, wherein gamers were also able to immerse themselves with the Samsung Odyssey OLED G9, the Samsung Odyssey NEO G9, and the Samsung Odyssey Ark. 

In attendance during the launch event was Samsung Electronics Philippines (SEPCO) President Min Su Chu and PC Express Vice President for Sales and Marketing Jesse Tan.


In his remarks, SEPCO President Min Su Chu highlights, “This year, we are celebrating 25 years of Samsung in the Philippines, and it is very fitting that we are part of this partnership with one of the top computer retailers in the country as it helps strengthen our mission to inspire generations of Filipinos through innovation.”
