Samsung Electronics’ booth at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023 is introducing a whole new era of inter-device connectivity that features a unique focus on keeping users connected to the environment.
At CES, the world’s largest consumer electronics and information technology exhibition held in Las Vegas from January 5 local time, Samsung is introducing its all-new connected experience powered by SmartThings, along with all the latest on how the company is combining innovation with sustainability via eco-conscious initiatives for a brighter future for all.
If you are unable to make it out to Las Vegas in person this year, be sure to read on for a closer look at how Samsung is bringing its booth, united under the theme of “Bringing Calm to Our Connected World,” to life.
▲ As soon as they step into the exhibition hall, visitors are greeted and introduced to Samsung’s “Bringing Calm to Our Connected World” theme. The display includes the company’s vision for sustainability that will be achieved through eco-conscious products and technologies, in addition to its vision for daily life that will be enriched by SmartThings, an interconnected experience brand.
Towards a Sustainable Future: Eco-Conscious Innovation for Both People and Products
Samsung announced its New Environmental Management Strategy back in September of last year, wherein the company presented its approach to combating the climate crisis through innovative technologies, including ultra-low-power semiconductors and eco-conscious product development, as well as its goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
At this year’s CES, Samsung is further demonstrating its commitment to taking action to combat climate change, including the company’s latest efforts towards boosting resource circulation and the products and innovations it has developed to create an eco-conscious tech ecosystem.
▲ Visitors can learn about Samsung’s eco-conscious initiatives across product life cycles, from sourcing and production to packaging, use and disposal. Visitors can get a close-up look at Samsung’s Regenerative Catalytic System (RCS) process for the first time at CES. Samsung was the first in the industry to develop it and there is nothing else like it. In the time that it was introduced, we have continued to improve it, bringing process efficiency up to 95%.
▲ Samsung has developed a variety of accessibility features to provide more accessible technology for all. This includes the new Relumino mode, which adjusts picture settings to enhance viewing experiences for those with low vision, coming to select 2023 Samsung TV models.
▲ Visitors learn about Auto-caption mode, which harnesses AI to place captions in non-obstructive places on-screen.
▲ To commemorate the importance of such technologies, Samsung has curated an exhibition of artworks from the Drawing Diversity project, an artistic collaboration by individuals with developmental disabilities. The goal of the project was to break stereotypes previously created in art and the display attracted the attention of visitors as it painted a picture of a better future.
▲ Samsung is helping users live more sustainably, including through its Net Zero Home, wherein all household energy consumption is managed with energy generated within the home itself. Through SmartThings Energy, a Net Zero Home can effectively manage the flow of energy without waste and features such as AI Energy Mode can help optimize energy use when there’s a surplus or shortage in energy.
▲ Visitors can learn about how, by removing the need for complicated manuals, the Net Zero Home’s 3D Map View makes it easier than ever to monitor energy usage. The AI Saving Mode setting constantly monitors and reduces energy usage based on the estimated energy bill, with the Away Notification – compatible with Bixby – sending notifications when unnecessary energy usage is detected. Other SmartThings features, such as AI scan for washer detergent, are also set to revolutionize water usage within the home.
The Evolved SmartThings Platform: Bringing Hyper-Connected Experiences to All
SmartThings, Samsung’s proprietary smart home platform, has evolved into being more than just a connected home solution – it is an integrated experience brand. Bringing together the SmartThings platform, which connects products and other smart home objects, Bixby, which provides AI services beyond just voice commands, and Knox, which safely manages and protects users’ personal information, the Samsung offering is being showcased at CES through a total of six daily connection experiences.
Each of the innovative technologies featured throughout SmartThings, Knox and Bixby are set to improve user’s device connectivity, controllability and customizability experiences for more holistic connected living. By integrating the three platforms, Samsung aims to better enrich people’s lives across all aspects of their lifestyles, showcasing its 2023 vision for a new era of connected living.
