Samsung Launches 1TB microSD Cards in Singapore with Improved Performance and Higher Capacity
The 1TB microSD cards PRO Plus and EVO Plus adopts Samsung’s advanced V-NAND technology to capture and store everyday moments safely and reliably
PRO Plus and EVO Plus’ enhanced performance enables easier processing of large files with 180MB/s sequential read speeds, and faster transfer speeds of 160MB/s
Samsung Electronics Singapore today announced the release of its 1 terabyte (TB) high-capacity PRO Plus and EVO Plus microSD cards in Singapore. The new memory cards stacks eight layers of Samsung’s eighth-generation V-NAND (V8) technology within a microSD form factor, offering higher capacity and enhanced performance to content creators and tech enthusiasts who require large storage capacities and quick file transfers across their devices on a daily basis.
“Content creators and tech enthusiasts who use smartphones, cameras and gaming devices to create and store contents require high performance and high capacity memory cards for data storage. With Samsung’s new 1TB PRO Plus and EVO Plus microSD cards, users can capture and store and transfer reliably, quickly and in a secure way,” said Jacus Long, Head of Display Business, Samsung Electronics Singapore.
Higher Storage Capacity with Enhanced Performance
The increased storage size of the PRO Plus and EVO Plus gives users higher capacity storage options for microSD cards. With 1TB of storage capacity, users can save more than 400,000 images in 4K UHD resolution (2.3 megabytes (MB) per image), or more than 45 console games (20 gigabytes (GB) per game) in a single microSD card.
The PRO Plus offers enhanced performance with sequential read speeds of up to 180MB/s coupled with sequential write speeds of up to 130MB/s.[1] For fast loading and multitasking, the PRO Plus has UHS Speed Class 3 (U3) and Video Speed Class 30 (V30) for 4K UHD Video with A2 App Performance, empowering users with the ability to focus more on content creation while worrying less about storing and organising their content.
As a daily use option, the EVO Plus offers transfer speeds of up to 160MB/s[2], with UHS Speed Class 3 (U3) and Video Speed Class 30 (V30)[3] for 4K UHD video with A2[4] App Performance. This enables more seamless file loading and multitasking, which can unlock new possibilities for content creation on-the-go.
The PRO Plus and EVO Plus are available in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage capacities. The EVO Plus also comes with a 64GB option, featuring UHS Speed Class 1 (U1), Video Speed Class 10 (V10) and A1 App Performance.
Maximising Power Efficiency and Improved Reliability
Samsung’s PRO Plus and EVO Plus microSD cards are designed for power efficiency, with its controller based on 28-nanometer (nm) process technology, unlike past models which were based on 55nm process technology, to help users maximise their device’s battery life.
With an Error Correction Code (ECC)[5]’s Low Density Parity Check (LDPC)[6] code 2-kilobyte (KB) engine, the PRO Plus and EVO Plus 1TB cards also offer enhanced reliability over more write-and-erase cycles, ensuring safer data storage over extended periods.
Proven Durability for Reliable Storage
The PRO Plus and EVO Plus microSD cards have undergone comprehensive testing[7] under harsh conditions with proven durability, achieving high-reliability ratings in six key areas. The PRO Plus and EVO Plus can withstand challenging environments, including withstanding water[8], high temperatures[9], X-rays[10] and magnetic field[11]. For content creators venturing into more challenging conditions, the PRO Plus and EVO Plus have also proven themselves to be drop-proof[12] and resistant to wear-out[13]*[14].
Compatibility Across Devices
The PRO Plus and EVO Plus microSD cards are compatible with a range of everyday devices, including AndroidTM smartphones, tablets and handheld gaming consoles. They are also compatible with devices used in harsh environments, such as action cameras or drones, and come with a 10-year limited warranty.
The 1TB PRO Plus and EVO Plus microSD Cards will be generally available in Singapore via the Samsung Online Store, the Samsung Official Store on Lazada and Shopee from 7 August 2024. The recommended retail price for the 1TB EVO Plus microSD card (MB-MC1T0SA/APC) is S$179, while the 1TB PRO Plus microSD card (MB-MD1T0SA/APC) retails at S$199.
