Day of Service: Making a Difference in Our Communities and the Future Workforce
11/8/2024
Each year, Samsung Employees across the United States step away from their desks to spend time serving the community during the annual Samsung Day of Service. In its 14th year running, employees were offered more than 2,000 opportunities to engage in their communities, both in person and virtually.
One of the projects took place at the Flat Rock Brook Nature Center in Englewood, New Jersey, where employees worked together to build an accessibility ramp to improve access for visitors. While reflecting on the importance of this particular project, our Chief Marketing Officer, Allison Stransky had the following to say, “This is an amazing organization that is focused on sustainability, preserving nature, and ensuring that the community in this greater area has access to all of these things .”
Another meaningful project involved our partnership with nonPareil, a nonprofit organization serving adults with autism spectrum disorder. During Day of Service, Samsung volunteers helped participants disassemble and reassemble Samsung smartphones, providing valuable hands-on experience with tech skills. Jasper Morse, the Director of Business Operations for Mobile Products, Customer Care shared the following about their aspirations for the project, “One of the objectives we have is to hopefully encourage those who have an affinity for technical repair skillsets to consider mobile phone repairs as a career choice.”
