Samsung Electronics America (SEA) announced today it is working with Microsoft and Verizon to bring the new Samsung Galaxy XCover Pro to the U.S. market. The launch of this new device is built to enable frontline workers to accelerate the adoption of mobile-first vertical solutions for enterprise and SMB customers. As mobility continues to drive business disruption in very positive ways, devices like the Galaxy XCover Pro will deliver new mobile-enabled business solutions for frontline workers, leveraging the hardware, software, and services strengths of the companies for their customers, all on Verizon’s reliable nationwide network.

The launch of the Galaxy XCover Pro will be the first, in what is planned to be many opportunities to harness new mobile platforms to transform the way businesses and their workers use digital transformation to work better and smarter. The XCover Pro is optimized for a variety of industries including retail, healthcare, logistics and manufacturing and provides several critical business-ready capabilities in a single form factor.

“In 2020, businesses are continuing to talk about mobile as the most important element in driving business innovation,” says Taher Behbehani, General Manager and Head of Mobile B2B Division at Samsung Electronics America. “Launching the XCover Pro with these partners shows our strong commitment to bringing mobile innovation to the B2B market in ways that maximizes frontline workers’ productivity.”

The XCover Pro is optimized for a variety of industries including retail, healthcare, logistics and manufacturing and provides several critical business-ready capabilities in a single form factor. The device is push-to-talk ready, enabling instant communication between the shop floor and the back office. Building on the existing partnership between Microsoft and Samsung to deliver unified experiences across mobile devices, Microsoft is the first partner to leverage the XCover Pro’s push-to-talk feature, through an integration for the device with Microsoft Teams that provides direct access to Teams’ new Walkie Talkie capability from a programmable key on the side of the device.

“The integration of the Galaxy XCover Pro’s push-to-talk functionality with Teams advances Microsoft’s longstanding partnership with Samsung, and brings the power of instant communication to where it’s needed most – the firstline,” said Emma Williams, Corporate Vice President, Modern Workplace Verticals at Microsoft.

“This new device, coupled with Microsoft’s Teams, will work best on the Verizon network, and will enable our business services teams to provide end-to-end solutions that accelerate our customer’s integration of rich productivity applications for their entire workforce – digitally transforming their operations for their customers,” said Jeff Dietel, SVP Marketing, Verizon Business Group.

The Future is Mobile

It’s clear enterprise customers need something different. And so, as we enter this new decade of mobile innovation, Samsung is throwing out the old paradigm of B2B mobile technology and creating an entirely new category. XCover Pro is more than just a new device, it’s a new mobile enterprise platform that will empower businesses and their frontline workers to harness mobility to turn any workplace location in to a seamless working environment.

At NRF this year, the future of retail centers around mobile technology delivering in-store experiences that bridge the gap between online-only transactions and the full potential of omni-channel shopping experiences. SEA and its partners are bullish the XCover Pro will not only make this future a successful reality, but will also open the door to entirely new mobile-first experiences that enable customers to respond faster to change and stay ahead of their competition.

The Samsung Galaxy XCover Pro will be in the U.S. market in the first half of 2020 for a price of $499.99.
