What’s New With Galaxy Watch9?

8/6/2026

Your smartwatch is most helpful when it’s comfortable enough to stay on your wrist, can keep up with your routine, and helps you understand the information it collects.

Galaxy Watch9 brings those pieces together with more battery capacity, faster performance, a comfortable fit, and health insights designed to turn everyday data into practical guidance.

Considering an upgrade to Galaxy Watch9 from your current Galaxy Watch? Here are a few changes you’ll notice right away.

Does Galaxy Watch9 Have a Bigger Battery?

Yes. Galaxy Watch9 offers increased battery capacity, with the biggest improvement available on the 40mm model.

The 40mm Galaxy Watch9 features a 390mAh battery — 20% larger than the comparable Galaxy Watch8 and 30% larger than Galaxy Watch7 and Galaxy Watch6. The added capacity provides more flexibility to track daily activity, wear your watch overnight, and make the most of Samsung Health insights with fewer interruptions for charging.

Is Galaxy Watch9 Faster Than Previous Galaxy Watches?

Galaxy Watch9 is the first Galaxy Watch powered by the Snapdragon Wear Elite platform, designed to make apps, menus, and workout tracking feel fast and fluid.

Whether you’re starting a workout, checking a message, or reviewing information in Samsung Health, Galaxy Watch9 helps you get what you need with less waiting and less interruption. Galaxy Watch9 also introduces Raise to Talk,1 a new way to access Gemini by lifting your wrist toward your mouth and speaking.

What New Health Insights Does Galaxy Watch9 Provide?

Galaxy Watch9 brings together Samsung’s latest health experiences to help you better understand changes in your body, overall fitness, and recovery needs.

Vitals compares five signals, collected while you sleep, with your personal baseline, helping identify meaningful changes from your usual patterns.2 Heart Health Score brings several lifestyle factors into a simplified view of your cardiovascular wellness and provides personalized guidance.3

For fitness and recovery, Fitness Index helps you understand your overall fitness level, while Daily Cardio Load considers recent activity and estimated recovery needs to help you decide when to push harder or take time to recover.4 Together, these experiences help Galaxy Watch9 go beyond displaying individual measurements by providing more context around your wellness and daily routine.

Is Galaxy Watch9 More Comfortable to Wear?

Galaxy Watch9 combines a slim profile with a redesigned Sport Band to support comfortable day-and-night wear. The band uses an air-pocket structure for a lighter feel on your wrist, while the Dynamic Lug System helps the watch sit closely and securely for consistent sensor contact. For Galaxy Watch7 and Galaxy Watch6 owners, Galaxy Watch9 also offers a noticeably slimmer design.

Should You Upgrade to Galaxy Watch9?

Galaxy Watch9 offers significant overall upgrades with improvements spanning battery capacity, performance, and comfort, and health insights.
