Work and Play go Hand in Hand on Take Your Child to Work Day
On April 25, 2019, Samsung Electronics America hosted its annual Take Your Child to Work Day in numerous offices across the U.S. Nationwide, over 200 children participated in activities focused on some of Samsung’s core values including innovation, well-being, and giving back. At the end of the day, everyone took home a Samsung memento and some of the lucky ones even took home Samsung technology. Here are some highlights of the day’s events.
Family Photo ID: As kids and parents filed in for the day, we used a Galaxy Note9 smartphone to capture sweet shots of them before the festivities began. Pictured from Left to Right: Tyra Gray with daughter Miakayla, Chris Kaasmann with daughters Kelly and Quinn and Mariana Columna with son Luis.
Early Morning Meeting: Employees and their children were greeted by YH Eom, President and CEO of Samsung Electronics America who introduced the day’s activities.
Product Brainstorm Session: Inspired by Samsung’s partnership with Epic Games’ “Fortnite,” the kids were tasked with creating their own video game that could help solve a problem or teach someone something. After coming up with their idea, each team presented to a panel of judges and presenting the idea to a panel of Samsung judges.
Hit the Gym: A hard day’s work is never complete without a heart-racing workout to achieve balanced well-being. Here the kids get a break from exercising their brain and participate in a Zumba class.
Product Trial Time: It wouldn’t be a regular workday at Samsung without the chance to try out our innovative technology! Everyone was invited to get immersed in a virtual reality environment with a Samsung Gear VR like riding a roller coaster or helping Star Wars characters repair droids after battle.
Lending a Hand: At Samsung giving back to the communities we live and work in is always an integral part of the work we do. For Take Your Child to Work Day, Samsung partnered with the American Red Cross and the kids packed 2,000 emergency hygiene kits for kids impacted by natural disasters.
Creative Spark: Just in time for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, the children had the chance to use their creativity to express their appreciation for their hardworking parents by making a keepsake for Mom or Dad.
Company Perks: Throughout the day, the children participated in different trivia games and activities for the chance to win raffle tickets for prize drawings. By the end of the day, fifty lucky winners took home prizes including Gear 360 cameras, Galaxy Watches, and JBL Speakers from Harman.
