How to tune your QLED TV
Your QLED TV is all set up, and you’ve been watching your favorite shows and playing cloud games through the Smart Hub. Or maybe you want to make sure that your QLED TV is ready for you even before you start watching your shows. Either way, you want to make sure that you get the full benefits of QLED colour and the TV’s 100% colour volume abilities. But how? We’re here to show you how to tune QLED to get an ideal setting for whatever it is you’re viewing, whether that’s movies, games, or sports.
Why tune my QLED TV?
As you may know, your QLED TV offers lifelike colours due to the New Metal Quantum dots it has within the screen. Quantum dots produce different colours based on their sizes, and the resulting colour comes through in such a dense manner it feels like you’re right there in the scene. And thanks to the HDR screen, the QLED TV has brilliant contrast that not only offers a wonderfully detailed picture, it also helps it provide 100% colour volume for the deep dark colours and bright whites.* Now let’s talk about how best to take advantage of that based on your content.
Adjust Colour Tone to get a colour balance you can enjoy
People like different things from their TV, and colour preference is no exception. So adjust your QLED TV to the settings you enjoy. Whether you’re watching a modern thriller or a hilarious sitcom you found on the Smart Hub, you can modify the colour to match your desired screen. There are four options for you to choose from.
- Cool: Only available in Dynamic mode, the Cool setting provides a cool blue hue to the picture.
- Standard: Only available in Dynamic mode, the Standard setting doesn’t adjust the colours at all.
- Warm1: This adds a warm pink hue to colours.
- Warm2: This setting adds a stronger pink hue to colours.
How to get there: Settings > Picture > Expert Settings > Color Tone.
Turn on Game Mode to get the most out of your gaming
For those who like to come home and go to town on the latest video game, this mode is for you. Not only does Game Mode optimize QLED TV’s image for an enhanced picture, it also optimizes frame rate and reduces blur. The combination of full colours and a fast refresh rate makes for a more responsive gaming experience with little lag. Game Mode is especially ideal for cloud games available through the Smart Hub, but it also works amazingly on console games. Turn on Game Mode and start your next adventure.
How to get there: Settings > General > External Device Manager > Game Mode.
Movie Mode makes movie night exciting
Watch movies how they were made to be watched. Movie Mode not only adjusts colours to make them more lifelike in a way that aligns with QLED TV’s dynamic colour and contrast, it also adjusts the image quality to line up with the movie director’s vision. You can even turn on Digital Clean View and Auto Motion Plus to create a throwback Soap Opera Effect. Together with QLED TV’s Ultra Black technology, which reduces reflection and glare, this innovative combination makes for an amazing movie experience. So, whether you stream movies through the Smart Hub or pop in a Blu-ray movie, you can enhance the quality with Movie Mode.
How to get there: Picture > Picture Mode > Movie.
Turn regular content into HDR content with HDR+ Mode
There is a plethora of HDR content to watch in the Smart Hub, but sometimes you want some childhood nostalgia. For the moments you want to go back in time, but not sacrifice picture quality, your QLED TV’s HDR+ Mode offers an HDR quality to non-HDR content by adjusting the contrast of the video source. This creates images that are very similar to what you see in real life!
How to get it: Settings > Picture > Expert Settings > HDR+ Mode.
Catch every action-packed sports moment with Auto Motion Plus Settings
The excitement of sports is in the energy. But if you can’t stay on top of the action, game nights with your buddies are ruined. Now that you have your very own QLED TV, you can put those thoughts behind you. Auto Motion Plus settings enhance picture sharpness so even fast-moving images come through clearly.
How to get it: Settings > Picture > Expert Settings > Auto Motion Plus Settings
Expert Settings lets you take matters into your own hands
If these different modes weren’t enough, Expert Settings is here to take your QLED TV viewing experience to another level of personalization. Go to Expert Settings and tinker with Backlight, Brightness, Contrast, Sharpness, Colour, and Tint to find the most satisfying settings for you. You can also use Backlight and Tint to tailor your QLED TV to your surroundings. If you are in a notably dark or bright room, use Backlight to control your screen’s light. Then adjust the green and red hues of your picture in Tint if necessary. This may seem like a lot, but don’t worry, you don’t need to be an expert to work with Expert Settings.
How to get there: Settings > Picture > Expert Settings
Go forth and tune!
Now that you know how to tune your QLED TV, you also know how to retune it! None of these settings are permanent which means that whatever you’re watching, you can easily get the ideal setting for it by simply retuning. Are you ready to get the most out of your QLED TV? You’re armed with the knowledge, so get to it!
