A pioneering partnership with the Product Management and Key Account Management Academies is primed to set a new benchmark in education and training

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – 30 March 2021 – As a Top Employer laureate and as an employer of choice, Samsung continues to showcase its passion for talent development. Today Samsung South Africa has announced a partnership with Regenesys Business School to create a platinum programme for Product Management and Key Account Management. The course was designed within the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) with the aim of giving participants access to a full leadership qualification, reinforcing Samsung’s commitment to upskilling and building an exceptional workforce. A group of 20 individuals, ten for Product Management and ten for Key Account Management, will pilot this pioneering programme. The initiative was announced at a launch event at Regenesys Business School on Friday 26 March. It aims to develop people who can thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced working environment.

“Samsung’s success is built on the talent of our people. Their pursuit of excellence and enthusiasm for being at the forefront of technological innovation, is what drives us forward. We embrace the idea of accelerating their growth by further developing their highly sought-after skills. This programme therefore serves both our business needs and the responsibility we place on ourselves to play a pivotal role in the power of technology to change lives, “said Bumsuk Hong, CEO & President Samsung Africa.

With innovation in mind, Samsung conducted a study in 2020 to highlight the key areas where the company can develop its people and achieve its business imperatives. It was clear that in the critical areas of Product Management and Key Account Management, there is an industry-wide scarcity of skills due to the niche market and highly pressurised environment in which Samsung operates. The company saw an opportunity to advance the growth of its existing talent far beyond the current industry standards. This approach relies on building on the firm foundation for success already inherent in the people identified for further development. Their notable abilities and great potential gave rise to the academy solution which will be piloted over 13 weeks commencing in April 2021.

The program aims to:

  • Create an experiential learning solution that nurtures natural abilities and hones students’ ability to flourish in their workplace environments
  • Offer world-class training through the renowned expertise of Regenesys Business School
  • Provide Samsung with a talent profile of qualified Product Managers and Key Account Managers therefore increasing productivity
  • Increase employee confidence and therefore retain the best talent

“We are committed to making the utmost of this innovative programme and equipping our talent with innovative tools to meet our business challenges and fuel growth. With a shared vision for success and an intuitive understanding of the technologies that will shape their future, we can continue to create sustainable, success for years to come, “concluded Hong.
