Revolutionary mobile payment system set to bring greater convenience to Galaxy fans

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – 12 June, 2019 – From 11 June, two new and popular Galaxy devices, the Galaxy A70 and A9, will both have instant access to the rapidly growing Samsung Pay mobile payment solution. Samsung Pay is continuing its rise in popularity locally and there are good reasons for it, as this secure and simple digital wallet turns your Samsung Pay supported devices into a bank and loyalty card. The success is being sustained through partnerships with major banking institutions including Absa, Standard Bank, FNB, RMB and Investec.

“Samsung Pay has brought South Africans a new level of convenience and security when making contactless mobile payments. Adding the Galaxy A70 and A9 to the list of supported devices now brings even more people a level of unsurpassed convenience,” says Justin Hume, Director: Integrated Mobility at Samsung South Africa.

The version of Samsung Pay on the A70 and A9 will support NFC only allowing it to be used effortlessly at any contactless payment terminal that supports Tap and Pay. Samsung Pay can be downloaded for free from the Samsung Galaxy Store.

The Galaxy A9 features a quad camera – the first of its kind on a smartphone and boasts cutting edge performance and uber-trendy colours. The Galaxy A70 showcases a stylish design, large infinity display, enhanced triple camera, powerful battery and seamless connectivity. Together, these devices will now include even more unrivalled technology through the introduction of Samsung Pay.

With a bank card loaded on a Samsung smartphone, paying is as simple as swiping upwards on your screen, authenticate via PIN orfingerprint and holding your phone by the Tap and Pay symbol on the payment terminal. Additionally, Samsung Pay’s security exceeds other mobile payment methods. Through tokenisation from Visa and MasterCard the physical card information is never used during the payment process but instead a unique cryptographic sequence and token is used for the transaction, where the cryptographic sequence changes with every transaction made.
