Capitec Bank customers can now take full advantage of the convenience of Samsung Pay

Samsung South Africa is pleased to announce the launch of Capitec on the Samsung Pay platform this July. For Capitec’s many customers, it is time to say goodbye to your wallet and hello to Samsung Pay, a pioneering mobile payment solution that offers a hyper-convenient way to pay on the go. With the ability to effortlessly load your bank as well as your loyalty cards on your mobile device, this a safe, secure and simplified banking solution. Samsung Pay’s enduring success is being driven through strong partnerships with major banking institutions, and its growth will be further amplified with the addition of Capitec.

Samsung’s commitment to bringing South Africans more convenient ways to pay should come as great news to Capitec customers. Now, more people will be able to enjoy an enhanced way of mobile banking, providing an easier and better way to make payments, no matter where life takes you. Samsung is excited to open up a new world of possibilities for anyone who banks with Capitec, with their Mastercard debit or Mastercard credit card. This includes a new promotion to make it even better to enter the world of Samsung Pay.

Capitec customers who register with Samsung Pay could win one of two epic Galaxy S21 FE smartphones – valued at R15,999 plus a pair of Galaxy Buds Live valued at R1,9991. The promotion period is between 5 July and 31 July 2022. To enter, Capitec customers simply need to install Samsung Pay, register, and make five transactions to be eligible for the amazing prizes1.

Francois Viviers, group executive of Marketing and Communications, says, “Technology has become so integrated into the way we do things as a society. That’s why we’ve partnered with Samsung Pay to make payments frictionless. As the biggest digital bank in SA, we are boosting access to Samsung Pay in a significant way and we are helping our 18 million clients to make cashless payments even easier. This is just another proof point in our drive to simplify banking for our clients so that they can live better.”

“Contactless payment has been prevalent and popular over the years internationally, and we are seeing the same trend locally with Samsung Pay. The platform’s usage had grown by 158% over the past 6 months, proving how enthusiastically South Africans are embracing the concept. As a pioneer in the category, we’re pleased to see so many people place their trust in this secure system early on. We look forward to seeing Capitec customers enjoy its enhanced security, simplicity and convenience, “said Justin Hume, Vice President: Mobile eXperience at Samsung South Africa.

Safe, secure access across a range of devices

Samsung Pay works seamlessly with supported Galaxy smartphones and has now grown to include supported Samsung Gear and Samsung Galaxy Watches so there are even more ways to enjoy the simplicity and convenience of Samsung Pay. With your bank cards loaded on a Samsung Pay supported smartphone or watch, paying is just a swipe, authenticate and tap away. This secure and simple digital wallet instantly gives Samsung Pay-supported devices the functionality of a bank and loyalty card, which can be used almost anywhere2 you can tap your card. It’s also designed to be one of the most secure mobile payment methods available, with the defence-grade protection of Samsung’s Knox security – which is already embedded into Samsung smartphones and watches. Furthermore, tokenisation from Visa, MasterCard and American Express secures your actual card information because it is never utilised during the payment process – instead a unique cryptographic sequence is used for each transaction.

With the inclusion of Capitec Bank, Samsung Pay has now proudly partnered with Absa Bank, Capitec Bank, Discovery Bank, FNB, HBZ Bank Limited, Investec, Nedbank, RMB Private Bank and Standard Bank bringing the convenience of Samsung Pay to all their customers.

Samsung Pay can be downloaded, for free, from the Google Play store and the Galaxy Store. It is now available on an ever-increasing and wide range of devices from smartphones such as the Galaxy A22 to the latest flagship devices such as the Galaxy S22 Series and even foldable smartphones. Once you load your bank cards, paying is always just a quick, safe tap away, as Capitec customers will soon find out. For more information, click here.
