JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – 23 September 2021 – As a tribute to South Africa’s rich cultural diversity, two of South Africa’s most talented artists celebrated Heritage Day, by turning to Samsung’s pioneering new foldable devices for inspiration. Visual artist, Neo Mahlangu and Ross Symons, better known by his Insta-famous alter ego White on Rice expressed their creativity through the groundbreaking Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and Galaxy Z Flip3 5G foldable devices.

As a trailblazer in the visual art industry, Neo Mahlangu who is well known for designing South Africa’s commemorative R2 coin in 2019 chose to express her ‘Ode to South Africa’ through the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G. Watch the video below to see how Neo effortless moves from canvass brush strokes to the S Pen to express her national pride. Enabled for the first time on a foldable device, the S Pen* empowers everyone to write, draw and annotate in unique new ways. In Neo’s hands and applied to an unfolded and large screen, its poetry in motion.

Ross Symons’ curiosity, creativity, patience, and impeccable skill usually come together in incredible origami, the art of making magic with paper. This time he turned to the Galaxy Z Flip 5G’s camera and flexibility to express his Africa-inspired creativity. He describes the folds as representing the strength and resilience of South Africans. He then utilised the versatility of the innovative flex mode to create captivating stop motion. Watch the video below to see how he brought his vision to life.
