At most birthday parties, guests bring the gifts. But on the one year anniversary of Samsung Rewards, we proudly look back on one year of success and lift the curtain on the year ahead.

We created Samsung Rewards to give back to consumers who use Samsung services such as Samsung Pay, Ask an Expert on Samsung Health, Samsung Internet and Bixby. Users earn points towards a variety of items, including a Samsung Rewards card which can be used towards purchases anywhere Visa debit cards are accepted.

Since its launch, Samsung Rewards’ metrics show that the service has experienced fantastic growth. After a year of growing 25 percent month-over-month, millions of people are enrolled in and actively use Samsung Rewards. In the first week of November alone, we gained more than 1 million new users in the United States alone.

We have grown in many other ways. Samsung Rewards started in the United States last year and quickly expanded to six new markets this year including Korea, Brazil, Singapore and more, with several others to follow in the coming months.

One key reason Samsung Rewards has been a hit with consumers is its ability to boost every service it works with. While many people find the program through Samsung Pay, more than half (54 percent) come through other services, like Bixby and Samsung Health. We estimate that Rewards increased the use of Samsung Pay by 48 percent and the use of Samsung Health’s “Ask An Expert” service by 46 percent.

To address consumer feedback as the service grew, we expanded Samsung Rewards to the web. With SamsungRewards.com, we made it possible for people to simply log into their Samsung account in order to quickly view their point balance and easily redeem points online.

This is just the beginning. As more people discover the benefits of Samsung Rewards, we look forward to expanding partnerships with a wide variety of brands.

Earlier this year, we launched an exclusive Samsung Rewards catalog for Sprint Galaxy Note8 users on Galaxy Forever, Sprint’s annual upgrade program for Samsung devices. There was a 49 percent increase in Sprint-exclusive rewards engagement for Galaxy Forever users in the first four weeks since launch. New partnerships—and the new special offers that come with them—will encourage even more people to get more out of the services they love.

At this year’s Samsung Developer Conference, we introduced the Samsung Rewards API, which will allow third-party partners to offer points to their customers. Our first partner is Better Mortgage, a digital mortgage company that aims to improve transparency and service for home financing. Today, if you’re looking for a mortgage or want to refinance, you can earn multiple points by getting pre-approved online through Better Mortgage, locking in a rate, and finally funding the transaction. As our list of third-party partners grows in the year ahead, we believe the Samsung Rewards API will provide even more value to users and participating companies.

This past year, many consumers have exchanged their reward points for Samsung products, and we want to give those Samsung fans more ways to earn points. We’re excited to announce that, starting today, Samsung Rewards will expand to select purchases made via the Shop Samsung app. Now, when you shop for qualifying Samsung products on the app, you will earn points so you can get even more out of your purchase. In the coming weeks, we will enable commerce with Samsung Rewards on Samsung.com.

At Samsung, we believe giving consumers more choices—big and small—leads to better experiences. Samsung Rewards is one way we’re doing just that. With every engagement, you can make small gains that lead to big rewards.

We are also exploring adding innovative new features that our consumers will enjoy such as peer to peer points sharing and integration with partner loyalty programs.

Just in time for the holiday season, this Thursday, we will launch a special 1-year anniversary instant win opportunity. There will be 1 million winners, starting Thursday through Dec 31 – it takes only 10 points to play.

Thank you to everyone who uses Samsung Rewards and helped it grow into the first-of-its-kind comprehensive loyalty program in our industry since we launched. Looking back, it has been a very rewarding year, and we’re looking forward to all we’ll have to celebrate by Samsung Rewards’ next birthday.

About Samsung Rewards

Samsung Rewards gives back to loyal users of Samsung’s products and partner services.

It works just like a points-based airline rewards program. Every time you make a purchase with Samsung Pay, or complete certain actions in the Samsung Health and Samsung Internet, or interact with Bixby in certain ways, you earn points. You can redeem those points for a wide variety of items, including Samsung products, Samsung Rewards Visa Prepaid Cards, gift cards to some of the country’s leading retailers, instant wins and more.
