Samsung featured an expansive exhibition area spanning 1,728m² — the largest among participants — drawing significant attention from attendees. The booth attracted more than 7,000 visitors on the first day, about twice as many as the previous year. During the event, a total of 23,000 attendees visited the booth, demonstrating the company’s status as a leader in the commercial display market.

Upon entering the booth, visitors were immediately drawn into the media facade, which showcased anamorphic content on The Wall — delivering exceptional image quality and creating immersive 3D-like viewing experiences.

As visitors ventured past the entrance, the Transparent MICRO LED — which had made its debut at CES 2024 in Las Vegas last month — continued to captivate the audience with the MICRO LED acting as an overlay to provide additional information and diagrams on top of a live soccer match.

Pioneering the Era of Hyper-Connectivity With SmartThings for Business

At ISE 2024, Samsung introduced an era of hyper-connectivity in the B2B space with SmartThings for Business. A dedicated SmartThings zone, designed to replicate various business settings such as coffee shops, hotels and offices, showcased the vast potential of SmartThings in various verticals.

In retail setups, Samsung demonstrated how SmartThings could transform store operations through personalized automation. SmartThings for Business streamlines tasks with customized settings while ensuring top-notch security through real-time store monitoring and instant alerts.

SmartThings enhances the guest experience in hospitality businesses as well. Using the SmartThings web browser, guests can easily check and control room conditions while also enjoying convenient features like auto check in and check out, all without the need for separate applications.

Samsung showcased enhanced business applications by incorporating SmartThings for Business into a corporate office space. Users can manage and control various settings according to meeting schedules, while also customizing enterprise dashboards using the SmartThings Enterprise API to further customize their experience.

Extending its influence beyond the realm of consumer tech, SmartThings for Business gained recognition from industry experts as well. At ISE 2024, the solution received two distinguished awards — ‘Best of Show at ISE 2024’ and ‘Top New Technology’ honors for Network Management Solutions — which are acknowledged by Commercial Integrator and CE Pro.

Samsung VXT Takes Over the Stage With Three Awards at ISE 2024

During ISE 2024, Samsung showcased its new cutting-edge content management solution, Samsung VXT (Visual eXperience Transformation). This cloud-native management software simplifies content creation and display management for B2B setups — including in-store promotions, advertisements and more — on one secure platform.

All eyes were on the Pre-Integrated Repeatable Solutions (PIRS), which seamlessly integrate with Samsung VXT to offer users access to a wider range of outstanding content and create efficient solutions for diverse business sectors such as retail, hospitality, food and beverage, and corporate real estate.

After the first official day, Samsung hosted a global launch event for Samsung VXT. Attended by customers, partners and tech media, the event marked the official debut of the new solution.

Samsung Partners With Cisco To Elevate Hybrid Workspaces With Its 105-Inch 5K Smart Signage Solution

Amidst the rise of hybrid work, Samsung unveiled a new smart signage (Model name: QPD-5K), optimized for video conferencing solutions, which will broaden the customer experience even further with more tailored solutions.

In partnership with Cisco, the new 105-inch 5K smart signage delivers a distinctive experience with its 21:9 widescreen ratio, offering an exceptional immersive experience that similarly replicates an in-person meeting room experience.

The 2024 WAD Interactive Display Provides Unlimited Learning Possibilities

Samsung also unveiled a new interactive display (Model name: WAD), designed to provide dynamic and engaging learning experiences. The 2024 model boasts substantial improvements including 8GB RAM and 64GB of memory compared to its predecessors, ensuring stable performance and elevating learning experiences to unprecedented heights.

From Content Creation to Retail: Customized Solutions for Each Vertical

Samsung showcased its latest display innovations with solutions customized for various sectors. One of the solutions included The Wall for Virtual Production (Model name: IVC Series). This cutting-edge solution utilizes large LED walls with real-time visual effects, streamlining content creation with efficient virtual backgrounds in studio.

Samsung also captured the attention of booth visitors by showcasing a potential use case of The Wall in traffic control centers. Attendees witnessed The Wall’s unparalleled image quality as it provided a real-time view of traffic conditions across multiple roadways, allowing operators to precisely monitor everything at a glance.

In the retail sector, Samsung’s Crystal UHD Signage (Model name: QxC Series) captured the eyes of booth visitors, which also received the Best of ISE 2024 award. Samsung Kiosk, which offers ease of operation with content management, ordering and payment without the need for a separate PC, also received a lot of interest on site.

Notably, The Wall All-in-One was praised for its easy installation process and optimal performance, winning the ‘Best of Show at ISE 2024’ in the Residential System category.

Samsung Display Solutions Recognized by Experts With Record-Breaking Nine Awards

Samsung has once again proven its leadership and innovation at ISE 2024, garnering widespread acclaim from global audiovisual media and setting a company record for the most awards ever received at the event.

Both SmartThings for Business and Samsung VXT received ‘Best of Show at ISE 2024’ awards in the AV Technology category, while VXT was also recognized in the Installation category. Samsung DeX provides a desktop-like experience entirely powered by a Samsung Galaxy device¹. Cisco

Samsung and Cisco are working together to enable an intelligent and unified experience of Webex solutions across Samsung mobile devices.

This alliance was founded with the goal to make it easier for personal and business users to collaborate with each other. Together, Cisco and Samsung created the best Wi-Fi 6 experience. Through joint engineering efforts and field trials, we developed technology optimized for app developers and mobile users. Earlier this year, we launched the Samsung Galaxy S10 as the first Wi-Fi 6 enabled mobile device. Wi-Fi 6, the next -generation of Wi-Fi network technology, not only provides faster network speeds, its increased network capabilities combined with 5G will create a seamless and hyper-connected experience for the future of business.

InfoComm 2019 was held from June 12 to 14 in Orlando, Florida. Those attending not only received an overview of recent trends in the global display industry, but they were also able to experience the latest innovations in display technology firsthand.

During the event, Samsung introduced various usage scenarios that demonstrated how digital signage could be installed in a variety of environments, ranging from classrooms to retail and offices. Here, to wrap up the 10 Years of Signage Innovation series, we’ll take a look at exciting new possibilities for display technology – some of which are already part of our daily lives.

Three ‘Hot Spots’ at InfoComm 2019

The corner of Samsung’s InfoComm 2019 booth that showcased The Wall Luxury transformed the event space into a movie theater. A modular display based on Micro LED technology, The Wall Luxury transcends the limitations of conventional displays in terms of size, screen ratio and resolution; measures only 29.9mm thick; and features a bezel-less design that allows it to seamlessly merge into the wall and the living room.

When the screen is off, it displays media arts or virtual wallpapers that transform The Wall Luxury into an art piece. As one attendee shared, “Pixels are invisible to the eye even when seen from up close.” Attendees also expressed excitement for the impending surge in demand for luxury home cinema products.

Have you ever wished that a detailed product description would pop up in the background automatically, without requiring you to call for assistance? Samsung MagicINFO 7 is an all-in-one system that manages advertising content on digital signage so consumers can view product information right away.

A new AI-based algorithm enables the system to display the right advertisement at the right time through customization. So for example, when shopping, if you pick up a certain cosmetic product from the shelf, the system will recognize the sensor under the product and instantly display the product information (as seen in the image above). As the system is based on the big data that includes shopping patterns of store visitors and their moving routes, there will be a countless number of scenarios for the system to use.

In meetings, where opinions are shared and decisions are made, easy and efficient communication between participants is crucial. Samsung’s new Flip 65” streamlines these situations by offering users a 65-inch touchscreen with a fast response speed. Visitors who tested out the display remarked on how impressed they were by its ability to recreate the effects of brush strokes. Not only that, the product also features a No Gap Wall Mount that allows it to be easily fixed to a meeting room wall so offices can utilize their space more efficiently.

When Advanced Technologies Enter Our Lives

Such advanced display technologies will completely change many aspects of our lives. What we have only seen in science-fiction movies is gradually becoming reality. Transformations in the office, classroom and restaurants – places where people spend a lot of their time – show us how far we have come in terms of display technology advancements.

Here we see a group meeting at a global company in which two teams from the company’s San Jose and Seoul offices are video conferencing using Cisco’s Webex Room Kit.¹ The display’s 4K resolution allows the participants to clearly see the letters on the screen so they can properly discuss the design.

Technological innovations have changed how we work. People have become more inclined to work from home or hold remote meetings, and employ other forms of work that transcend limitations in time and space to make the work process more productive. Samsung’s SMART Signage Solution reflects this trend, and is helping to create ‘smart offices’ in partnership with Cisco.

Thanks to Samsung SMART signage and Cisco’s Webex Room Kit solution, which helps meeting participants in different locations feel as if they’re in the same room, consumers will be able to create virtual meeting rooms without any hassle.

In a middle school math class, a teacher takes advantage of visual aids with complex tables and graphs using Samsung’s Flip. The display helps the teacher conduct a collaborative class, rather than a one-sided lecture, by enabling him to pull up digital textbook files to solve problems with students. Everything written on the screen during class is sent to the students via email, so they don’t have to worry about writing everything down for future reference.

Samsung replaced the blackboard with the introduction of the Flip in order to create a new type of learning environment. One that connects the classroom to new information in real time, and keeps students interested by helping teachers prepare a variety of class materials. This ‘live blackboard’ will help teachers foster a lively class environment that encourages students’ creativity.

For someone whose favorite lunch is a cheeseburger from the place down the street from her office, the trip to the burger joint becomes a daily routine. She’s there today too, as usual. Because she visits every day at around the same time, her favorite set automatically pops up on the kiosk when she is ready to order. When she is ready to pay for her food, the coupon stamps she gathered during the past week pop up as well, automatically applying a discount to her bill.

The role of digital signage in shopping will also expand to the point that it will act as an ‘AI secretary’ that customizes the shopping experience for each customer. In the past, displays were a one-way communication method that offered information to the audience. Now, they deliver customized information according to customers’ behaviors and preferences. Scenarios that cater to the needs of both customers and retailers can be shown on the display, such as an automated message announcing a 20 percent discount when a fruit stall wants to sell off excess inventory.

“We will provide more advanced forms of communication by implementing touch functionality and sensors, as well as a display content management system and analysis function,” said Kay Hwangbo, Signage Products Product Planner at Samsung Electronics’ Visual Display Business.

A Display that Transcends Limitations

We may not have noticed each and every change, but digital signage is now deeply immersed in our lives, connecting different parts of it together 10 Years of Signage Innovation: Episode ①>. For the last 10 years, Samsung Electronics has continuously pushed technological boundaries and maintained its leadership of signage innovation 10 Years of Signage Innovation: Episode ②>.

Going forward, Samsung will continue to lead the industry with innovative digital signage solutions. The focus will be about thinking outside of the conventional notion that signage is a one-sided advertisement that feeds information to the audience. The first step is to advance interactive communication that thoroughly analyzes customers’ interests, needs and behaviors.

5G Drone Application

A Drone carrying a very low latency, high-quality video system is piloted from the Orange booth at the Fira de Barcelona. The drone, which is located outdoors at an Orange datacenter, carries a 5G router (CPE) that is used to transfer commands to the drone and transmit a high-quality video feed with low latency. At the Orange booth, the pilot can be seen controlling the drone by using a 5G tablet. Aeromedia, a leading drone operator, collaborated in this demo.

5G Industrial Robot Application

An autonomous robot carrying manufacturing parts transmits live video feeds taken by a 360º camera and a Full HD camera, both installed in the robot. The video streams allow operators to monitor the robot’s environment remotely, and to react and control it when its autonomous operation is interrupted due to unexpected obstacles in its path. The video and the commands controlling the robot are transmitted through a 5G network. This demonstration was done in cooperation with Acciona, a global company providing renewables, infrastructure and services.

The demonstrations show industrial use cases powered by 5G’s ultra-reliability, low-latency and high-capacity.

Samsung and Cisco joined forces for this live demonstration. Samsung used its 5G solutions including virtualized RAN, one of the smallest 5G access units, multiple indoor and outdoor 5G routers, and 5G tablets. Cisco’s Ultra Gateway Platform delivers a 5G virtual packet core on top of Cisco NFV Infrastructure that brings enhanced throughput and flexibility. Leveraging the wide bandwidth available at mmWave bands, like 26GHz, and advanced antenna technologies like massive MIMO and beamforming, the companies were able to achieve mobility, a very low end-to-end latency, and high capacity enabling the transfer of high-quality video feeds.

“Thanks to this successful test of 5G industrial applications, Orange has been able to verify use cases for verticals that are enabled by this technology,” said Mónica Sala, Chief Technical and Information Officer at Orange Spain. “We can now better understand the way in which this technology works in real industrial environments. This is a major step in driving forward the development of 5G.”

Since the announcement in February by the three companies of the first multi-vendor 5G fixed wireless trial in Europe (Link), the friendly-user trial has been running for a month and a half across multiple homes in Floresti, Cluj district, Romania. The trial makes use of Samsung’s 5G solutions including the virtualized RAN, one of the smallest 5G access units and multiple indoor and outdoor 5G routers (CPE), as well as Cisco’s Meraki Z3 WiFi Router and Ultra Gateway Platform which delivers a 5G virtual packet core on top of Cisco NFV Infrastructure that brings enhanced throughput and flexibility.

By leveraging the wide bandwidth available at 26 GHz and advanced antenna technologies such as massive MIMO and beamforming, the companies were able to achieve coverage beyond 1 km at 1 Gbps speed for a single user in real live conditions. Measurements in these conditions also show aggregated cell downlink throughputs of 3 Gbps with few users, although the system capacity is significantly higher.

On July 2 and 3, Samsung and Cisco together with Orange are holding a demonstration near Floresti City Hall to present the results of the trial and showcase some of the most promising 5G-powered smart city and home entertainment solutions in front of media and partners from across the industry.

Smart City Applications

Samsung’s Connectivity Node is installed on a streetlamp to provide wireless connectivity for temperature and humidity sensors and security cameras. Sensors and cameras are connected wirelessly to the node, which is then connected to the core network via 5G. The Connectivity Node is a compact, high-capacity, easy-to-install and economical alternative for places where wireline deployment is unfeasible or costly.

Home Entertainment Applications

Several parallel UHD videos and VR sessions are streamed simultaneously over the same 5G broadband connection. All of the content is transmitted via the 5G core and 5G radio link. The 5G system capacity is crucial to this demonstration as it not only allows simultaneous UHD streaming over multiple screens under one roof, but also provides extra capacity in case content consumption further increases.

In another demonstration, two players compete against each other in a live cloud video game over the 5G network. Their split-second actions and the game’s seamless operation are made possible by the network’s extremely low latency.

Real Time Security Camera Analytics

Cisco Meraki MV21 cameras are deployed, providing video coverage as well as advanced video-based analytics. Three major use-cases are demonstrated with application for Smart Cities solution as well as for B2B verticals such as retail. Video data can be used to provide accurate count of people moving in the camera field, deliver precious information to improve disposal of products in retail environment and better organise space for efficiency and improved service.

We can now better understand the way in which this technology works in real usage environments in order to complement wireline solutions. Samsung Electronics has been showcasing its portfolio of innovative display solutions at the Digital Signage Expo in Las Vegas in March. The company’s collection of cutting-edge solutions includes the latest digital signage products, industry-leading displays including the Samsung Flip and exciting new video conferencing solutions with HARMAN and Cisco.

Samsung’s workplace solutions are designed to foster a creative, collaborative and productive business environment. The Samsung Flip is a perfect example of Samsung taking digital connectivity and collaboration to a new level by transforming the paper white board into a digital solution for businesses designing mobile workspaces.

The Samsung Flip display promotes more collaborative digital engagement by addressing some of the leading challenges businesses face when coordinating, facilitating and recapping meetings. The Samsung Flip gives users the familiar feel of writing, while also providing a noticeable upgrade on both analog boards and standard flip charts. Additional capabilities include the display’s ability to easily share and search content, allowing for multiple users to contribute at once and quickly transform any location into a huddle room with its wheel-based, portable stand.

By leveraging Samsung’s industry-leading professional displays and collaboration products from HARMAN, the Samsung-HARMAN Huddle Room Solutions take a modern twist on a huddle space. From reducing setup time and offering support for sharing materials with the advanced display technology, these meeting systems can address all needs for small and medium-sized collaboration sizes. Suitable for modern office style, it provides the best solution for BYOD meetings and comes with easy to use features including one-click Skype for Business. The huddle rooms are available in four different options, providing a range of functionality for any huddle room application, including: Huddle Standard Solution, Huddle Premium Solution, Huddle Enterprise Solution and Huddle Enterprise Plus Solution.

Visitors used the Cisco Spark Room solution to connect the Cisco Korea office and the exhibition hall in Las Vegas for video conferencing.

Samsung and Cisco have completed the HDMI-CEC compatibility test between Samsung’s QMH and QBH displays, and Cisco Spark Room Kit and Kit Plus. Now, Samsung UHD SMART Signage, QMH Series displays and the last firmware release of Tizen 3.0 can be seamlessly integrated with the Cisco Room Kit Series featuring non-touch and play synchronization for smooth user experience.

Combining Samsung’s dynamic displays with Cisco’s innovative video conferencing creates the ultimate Cisco meeting experience. It includes automatic recognition of devices, optimal Spark display configuration for video conferencing and automatic HDMI switching for incoming calls. Powered by stat of the art technology, it provides more advanced features including analytics and cloud service. The compatibility of Samsung displays and Cisco solutions create smart rooms for smart meetings with crisp images and clear connections.

Further, business managers can elevate the customer experience at their commercial locations by installing Samsung’s fine pixel pitch IF-H LED screens for an ideal combination of superior picture quality and intuitive usability. The IF Series combines Samsung’s leading video processing technologies with High Dynamic Range (HDR) picture refinement to add clarity and sophistication to featured content – all within a compact, easy-to-maintain design. In turn, indoor users can deliver more realistic and memorable content without incurring additional costs or added burden.

About the Trial

The trial will be set up as a multi-vendor environment for a month-long period, in Romania. The companies will demonstrate how 5G can complement existing fiber deployments to deliver high-quality, high-speed bandwidth services.

The Multi-Vendor Solution

Samsung and Cisco are working together to supply Orange with an end-to-end solution to deliver a gigabit-powered experience to trial customers. Samsung will provide commercial 5G home routers (indoor and outdoor customer-premises equipment (CPE)), 5G Radio Access Units (RAN) comprised of a compact radio base station and virtualized RAN elements, as well as 5G radio frequency planning services. Cisco will supply its Cisco Ultra Gateway Platform, delivering a 5G virtual packet core on top of Cisco NFV Infrastructure. The mobile gateway will be deployed with Control and User Plane Separation (CUPS) for enhanced throughput and flexibility.

Since 2017, Samsung and Cisco have conducted a series of comprehensive network vendor interoperability tests that demonstrated seamless interworking between the virtualized core network, virtualized radio network and CPE.
