Season 2 of Solve For Tomorrow, Samsung’s flagship CSR program, is on the lookout for ambitious young innovators aged 16-22 who can solve real-world issues facing India for a chance to win INR 1.5 crore in grant to transform their ideas into working prototypes. Last two days are left for submitting your application.

 

Here’s a quick look at the official rules and selection criteria during the different phases of the program. Read through and submit your application now.

 

Phase 1

A total of 30 teams will be selected for phase 1 of the program and will get a chance to attend a 5-day boot camp at FIIT, IIT Delhi, and visit Samsung offices and R&D centers. The selection criteria for SFT phase 1 are as follows:

 

• Best use of technology (app, product, or service) to address one of the four competition themes
• How the idea can fulfill the needs of the intended target audience
• Creativity and originality of the idea
• Feasibility of the solution with current technology and resources considered
• Potential for the idea to positively impact society and the environment

 

Phase 2

For phase 2 of SFT season 2, the top 30 teams will be asked to pitch their ideas to a jury comprising Samsung experts, who will then select the top 10 teams for phase 3. The selection criteria are going to be as follows:

 

• Best use of technology (app, product, or service) to address one of the four competition themes- agriculture, education, healthcare, and environment
• The clarity in the development of the idea submitted in Phase 1
• Demonstrable use of research and testing to understand the needs of the intended
• target audience
• Creativity and originality of the idea
• Feasibility of the solution with current technology, resources, laws, and regulations considered
• Potential for the idea to positively impact society and/or the environment
• Potential to reach its intended target audience
• Demonstration of design thinking
• Quality of the presentation of the idea

Phase 3

As part of phase 3, the top 10 teams will receive advanced training for proof-of-concept development, business plan, and essential soft skills to become next-gen entrepreneurs. The teams will be requested to pitch their ideas to the jury one final time to select the competition winners. The selection criteria for the phase 3 will be as follows:

 

• Best use of technology (app, product, or service) to address one of the four competition themes
• Quality of detail and clarity within the final plan, as showcased at the Pitch Event
• The clarity in development and refinement of the idea since Phase 2, including the creation of a prototype and testing with the intended target audience
• Creativity and originality of the idea
• Feasibility of the solution with current technology, resources, laws, and regulations
• Potential for the idea to positively impact society and/or the environment
• Potential to reach its intended target audience
• Demonstration of design thinking while developing the idea

 

Finally, the three winning teams will receive a grant to scale their proof of concept and develop a prototype for consumer validation. The three winning teams will get six months to build a prototype. During these six months, the participants will be under the mentorship of FITT, IIT Delhi. There will be no rounds of judging in this phase.
