[Pictures] Behind the Scenes of Samsung’s ‘What Is Your Himalaya’ Video
Samsung Electronics recently released a corporate video to showcase its highest-located brand store in the world. Titled “What Is Your Himalaya”, the nearly three-minute film captures the story of a truck driver carrying Samsung Electronics’ products to the company’s brand store located in Leh. All pictures for this piece were taken with the Galaxy S7.
At 3,500 meters above sea level, Samsung’s brand store in Leh, stands at the highest altitude amongst all Samsung locations.
The pristine beauty of Leh-Ladakh makes it a popular tourist destination.
The production team however had a tough time in acclimatizing itself with the hostile terrain and extreme weather conditions. In fact, the producer suffered from altitude sickness and could barely eat anything for two days upon arrival. The shooting for the video could only start on the fourth day of the week.
The man riding the motorcycle played the main role in this film. For an ordinary man without any acting background, he met the production team’s expectations with his great acting.
The path to the shooting location was long and winding on the edge of the cliff. The cliff road was so narrow that only two cars side by side could barely cross it. The road was in bad condition.
There was another hurdle in the shoot. Most of the areas chosen for the shooting were dry mountains, so walking around the location led to fine dust particles that dispersed like a wet fog. Some of the staff had chapped lips in less than a day after coming to Leh. Others had sore throats a few days later.
The entire production team worked hard to capture the story of the man delivering Samsung products to customers located in one of the most remote locations of the country. In the end, it was a worthwhile effort.
