Are you an engineering aspirant, working hard to crack the entrance test for getting into the IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) or the NITs (National Institute of Technology), but also worried about your finances? There’s some good news for you!

Samsung India, the country’s biggest consumer durables company, has launched ‘Samsung Star Scholar’ program, to provide 150 scholarships to engineering students every year.

These scholarships are for those students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya schools, who clear the engineering test for admission in the IITs or NITs. Samsung has had a partnership with Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti since 2013.

Currently, the Company operates Samsung Smart Classes in over 400 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya across the country.

Students for the ‘Samsung Star Scholar’ program will be selected from the 2016-17 academic session of B. Tech/Dual Degree (B.Tech + M.Tech) based on their rankings in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main.

Each student selected under the scholarship program will get financial support of up to Rs 2 lakh per year, so that deserving students can concentrate on their studies, without having to think about their tuition fees and hostel expenses.

Deepak Bhardwaj, Vice President of Samsung India, said the aim of the scholarship is to make it possible for extraordinary students from low-income backgrounds to afford to attend some of the top colleges and universities in our country.

“These students have excelled in academics, and we hope to be able to support their endeavor by further changing their lives,” Mr. Bhardwaj added.

The ‘Samsung Star Scholar’ program is aligned with Samsung’s ongoing effort to nurture deserving young talent by enabling them with quality education.

The application period for the ‘Samsung Star Scholar’ program will remain open until January 20, 2017.
