Samsung India Celebrates Diwali, the Festival of Lights
Diwali, the festival of lights, symbolising the victory of good over evil, was celebrated with enthusiasm across Samsung India’s offices. The company’s headquarters in Gurgaon was a sight to behold, with the entire office decorated with diyas (clay lamps), lanterns and balloons. Employees turned up in ethnic wear, creating an atmosphere of colour and fun.
To mark the festivity, a talent show was organised at the Gurgaon office. This show witnessed some great singing and dance performances.
In true Diwali tradition, Rangoli competitions were organised for employees across the country. Rangoli, an art form in which patterns are created on the floor using colourful materials or flower petals, is believed to bring good luck.
Thirteen teams comprising over 60 employees participated in the Rangoli competition at the Gurgaon headquarter.
The Rangoli competition at Gurgaon office was judged by Mr. B K Lee, HR Director of Samsung Electronics Southwest Asia (SWA) and Mr. Udaiy Khanna, Vice President, SIEL-S-HRM Group. The four parameters to judge the Rangoli competition were creativity, use of colours, neatness and overall design.
The first prize was won by the team comprising Sherry Monga, Ritu Kumari, Palky Mehta, Dimple Sharma, Palak Singla and Hitasha Vohra.
At Samsung’s Research & Development Institute in Bangalore (RDI-Bangalore), the Rangoli competition was equally stiff, with each pattern depicting beautiful themes through vivid colors.
The internal jury in Bangalore had a tough time in selecting the winner as each team showcased mesmerizing illustrations with varied ingredients and colours. In the end, the winners (above) were decided unanimously.
