Samsung Innovation Campus: Empowering Young Women to Shape the Future of Tech
In India’s rapidly evolving tech landscape, young women are coding their way into the future. At Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC), they aren’t just learning about technology; they’re using it to break barriers, turn ideas into reality, and carve out their own success stories.
Aligned with the Government of India’s #SkillIndia and #DigitalIndia initiatives, Samsung Innovation Campus focuses on improving employability of the youth by training them in high-demand tech fields such as AI, Internet of Things, Big Data and Coding & Programming.
It’s a launchpad for aspirations, equipping students with the knowledge, confidence, and real-world exposure they need to thrive in the industry.
Turning Knowledge into Innovation
Samsung Innovation Campus was launched in India in 2022 in partnership with the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI). Certification of 3,500 students was completed under the programme for the year 2024.
Among these, are Kanchan Lata, Avantika Tripathi, Yashasvini R and Divya Bhakt, who trained at Samsung Innovation Campus and are now charting their own path.
For Kanchan Lata Srivastava, a B.Tech student at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, the program became a steppingstone into the world of machine learning. With her expertise in Python and OpenCV, she built a Driver Drowsiness Detection System, a project aimed at improving road safety. “This journey has not only strengthened my technical skills but also fueled my passion for semiconductor research,” she said.
Similarly, Avantika Tripathi, a final-year student specializing in software development and data science, used her training to sharpen her competitive coding skills. She went on to secure top rankings in StackHack 2.0 and GFG Weekly-148, proving that young women can stand tall in the world of hackathons and coding challenges. “The exposure I got helped me explore UI/UX design and competitive coding, and now I aspire to work at a company that truly values innovation and diversity,” she said.
For Yashaswini R, from SJP Bangalore, the hands-on learning experience at Samsung Innovation Campus transformed her passion into tangible skills. She developed an automated Smart House project during her diploma in Electronics and Communication, which paved the way for her upcoming internship at Tata Electronics. “The program gave me the confidence to push my limits in IoT, circuit design, and automation. Now, I know exactly where I want to go,” she said.
Not all dreams in technology lead to corporate careers—some aim to shape the next generation. Divya Bhakt, an MCA student from Lucknow, is one such trailblazer. With her deep interest in physics, mathematics, and computer science, she is preparing for the NET JRF qualification, with hopes of becoming a professor. “I want to bridge the gap between academia and industry so that more young women can take the leap into STEM fields,” she says with determination.
