What is the potential of technology in envisioning a diverse and inclusive society? Team TouchPad from Solve For Tomorrow rightly believes it’s immense. The team consists of a visionary trio determined to work for the social inclusion of the visually impaired with their innovative idea.

Malathi M, C Ganesh Ram, and Vishwa Kumaresh from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, make team TouchPad, whose tactile display pad has an electromagnet-based mechanism that can convert images and texts into Braille in real-time.

Here is a brief walk through their learnings, experience, and plans to win the national education and innovation competition.

Nurturing the Next-Gen: IIT Delhi Bootcamp

Team TouchPad’s journey to the IIT Delhi bootcamp during Solve For Tomorrow season 2 was the first significant step toward realizing their idea. The trio reflected upon their bootcamp experience and said, “The best things we have learned at the bootcamp are the design thinking classes, the method and systematic way of solving a problem. And to make sure who’s the target audience for our product.”

Putting Bootcamp Lessons into Practice

The bootcamp learnings gave the trio enough to refine their project and scale its impact. The trio maintains that this has been a transformative experience, “Before the bootcamp we had a very short-term vision. And it helped us with valuable inputs to solve this problem. We want our solution to be helpful to the people and hope it will reach the right people.
