Samsung Collects Four Top Honours for Design Excellence at Australia’s International Good Design Awards

Four Samsung products have received revered Gold Winner Accolades at the 2022 Good Design Awards, including The Freestyle, BESPOKE Cube Air Purifier AX53, BESPOKE Refrigerator, and Samsung BESPOKE AirDresser.

Samsung Electronics Australia is celebrating the recognition of four products from across its consumer electronics range, each winning a prestigious Good Design Award Gold Accolade at the 2022 Australian Good Design Awards.

Three products from Samsung’s BESPOKE Home Appliances range including the BESPOKE Cube Air Purifier AX53, BESPOKE Refrigerator, and Samsung BESPOKE AirDresser, in addition to Samsung’s The Freestyle portable projector won gold in the Product Design category for outstanding design and innovation that improves the lives of Australians.

In its 64^th year, the Australian Good Design Awards are the highest honour for design and innovation in the country, and highlight the profound impact a design-led approach can have on business success and social and outcomes.

• Samsung BESPOKE Cube Air Purifier AX53 – Winner: Australian Good Design Award Gold Accolade

Design meets function with BESPOKE Cube Air Purifier AX53. The visually appealing, virtually silent Air Purification system removes up to 99.97% of large and ultra-fine particles to help provide clean air in homes[1]. The system balances the desire to have an aesthetic home interior with the functionality of an air purifier.

Of the Samsung BESPOKE Cube Air Purifier AX53, the Good Design Awards jury said: “This product caught the judges’ attention with its bold design. Clever user interface, whisper quiet operation and a stunning design makes this purifier stands out from the competition. Other notable touches include the automatic dimming function, wireless access, and ‘wind free’ mode.”

• Samsung BESPOKE Refrigerator – Winner: Australian Good Design Award Gold Accolade

Samsung’s BESPOKE Refrigerator range offers consumers personalisation and refrigerator configuration to meet any family’s needs. The range is colour customisable, modular and includes a French Door Fridge, Single Door Fridge, Single Door Freezer and a Bottom Mount Fridge, each with the unique ability to connect together. The BESPOKE Refrigerator range will launch in Australia soon.

Of the Samsung BESPOKE Refrigerator, the Good Design Awards jury said: “The Samsung BESPOKE Refrigerator is a breath of fresh air in a conservative category. Released from the generic stainless steel straight-jacket, this baby can be dressed up to fit the home and fit the mood. Mix and match functionality keeps the look vibrant and young. This design is a great insight from the Samsung design team.”

• Samsung BESPOKE AirDresser Winner: Australian Good Design Award Gold Accolade

Samsung’s BESPOKE AirDresser is an innovative approach to clothing care that optimises powerful air and steam to help remove up to 99% of certain germs, allergens and dust, refreshing and sanitising clothes between washes[2].

Of the Samsung BESPOKE AirDresser, the Good Design Awards jury said: “Sturdily built with a range of functions for different garments, this AirDresser prolongs the time between washing or dry-cleaning (outer) clothes like suits and uniforms, by steaming, drying, and deodorising them. Samsung has hit the nail on the head with the subtle dark grey look, compact design and built-in functionality.”

The 2022 Good Design Awards attracted high-quality design projects from Australia and around the world spanning 11 design disciplines in more than 30 categories and sub-categories.

Submissions were evaluated by more than 70 Australian and international Jurors, including designers, engineers, architects and thought leaders. Each entry was evaluated according to a strict set of design evaluation criteria which includes Good Design, Design Innovation and Design Impact.
