Samsung honoured with six accolades at Australia’s Good Design Awards

Samsung 9kg Heat Pump Dryer’s receives prestigious Good Design Award Gold

Samsung Electronics Australia has been lauded at the 61^st annual Good Design Awards for harnessing design to create products that improve the lives of Australians. The awards, which are hosted by Good Design Australia and offers one of the highest honours for design and innovation in the country, awarded Samsung six accolades at the 2019 ceremony.

The awards recognised a range of Samsung’s home appliances and external SSD storage products with the Good Design Award Winner Accolade, as well as the Samsung 9kg Heat Pump Dryer, receiving a Good Design Awards Gold Accolade, meaning it not only met but exceeded the extremely high standard set by Good Design Australia.

On Samsung’s winning products, the Good Design Awards Jury said:

• Samsung 9kg Heat Pump Dryer
“This dryer has impressive attention to detail in its design and finishes. There is a real wow factor to its control panel and the dial, while  the Super Speed Dry and Quick Dry cycles can power through in minimal time. With a look that beautifully complements today’s    modern homes, a seven-star energy rating achievement, and easy-to-maintain filter design, this is a really great product.”

• Samsung 676L Side-By-Side Refrigerator
“With an immaculate exterior finish, this is well built with simple functionality for specific purpose. The way its SpaceMax^TM technology uses high-efficiency insulation to maximise internal dimensions is impressive, while the plumbing-free chilled water and ice dispenser is a real value add. Good, solid industrial design that is easy to use and does what it was designed to do with ease and beauty.”

“The connection with Woolworths is solving a genuine modern lifestyle need and it’s one of many examples of the fridge’s app integration that enables people to get more out of the time they spend in the kitchen. The exterior of the fridge also has beautiful finishes and is really well built.”

The winners of Australia’s peak industry design awards were announced at The Star on 11 July at the 61st annual Good Design Awards Ceremony.

The Good Design Awards attracted a record number of submissions with close to 700 design projects evaluated in this year’s international design awards.
