Samsung’s all-in-one Smart Monitor line-up features new 27-inch and 32-inch models plus upgrades that maximise productivity and create more personalised experiences.

Samsung Electronics Australia today announced its 2023 Smart Monitor line-up. The new Samsung Smart Monitor M8, M7, and M5 (M80C, M70C, M50C) allow Australians to tailor their monitor to their unique style and needs, as they work, watch, and live their way. The 2023 line-up includes the next generation M8 and M7 in 32-inches, supported by a refreshed M5 range, available in 32-inch and 27-inch screen sizes.

“When we introduced the Smart Monitor to Australia, we launched a lifestyle category that defied expectations while raising the bar for what a monitor could mean for home productivity, entertainment and convenience,” said Phil Gaut, Senior Director of Display and Brand Memory, Samsung Australia. “In 2023, Australians are becoming more discerning with their technological purchases, while the need to work and study from home remains. Samsung’s Smart Monitor series provides Australians with a unique and value-driven solution that can provide multiple benefits to allow consumers to work, play and live their way.”

Redefining the Smart Monitor: Productivity and entertainment in one

The 2023 Smart Monitor M7 has received multiple upgrades and feature enhancements from the previous generation, with its new capabilities closer reflecting its M8 sibling. From both 2023 M8 and M7 models, Australians can expect superb picture quality with 4K resolution, HDR 10+[1], and 400nit brightness. The M8 and M7 also support colour coverage up to 99% sRGB colour gamut to bring all content to life with brilliant accuracy for content creators.

Designed to fit nearly every space, including in a student dorm, home office space, living room, or bedroom; the new Smart Monitor M7 features the same Iconic Slim Design as the M8, sporting a flat, super slim herringbone-patterned back that is a mere 11.39mm deep. The height-adjustable stand with tilt helps M8 and M7 users adjust the angle whenever they need to.

The 90 degree rotating screen compliments both productivity and entertainment uses, enabling Australians to view long documents in a portrait orientation, or consume images and videos in the format they were intended to be viewed in without compromising screen real estate.

Synonymous with Samsung’s Smart Monitor series, Australians can easily access, navigate, and enjoy their favourite streaming apps with their TV experience enhanced via the monitor’s built-in speakers and remote control. The Tizen OS-powered entertainment hub delivers access to Samsung TV Plus, the brand’s free ad-supported TV (FAST) and video-on-demand service that offers 91+ channels in Australia and thousands of shows and movies on-demand[2]. The latest range of Smart Monitor M8, M7, and M5 models are also the first Smart TVs to feature Samsung Gaming Hub[3], enabling Australians to play games from top streaming partners, with no PC or gaming console required.

Productivity your way

Samsung’s newest Smart Monitor M8, M7, and M5 models each feature MultiView, enabling Australians to use Microsoft 365 and the Browser app in full screen mode to reduce switching between apps[4] while working or studying. While each of the monitors include four ports, they can also wirelessly connect to compatible Android and iOS devices to view content from a smartphone, tablet, or PC on a bigger screen[5].

To enhance the interface of all the 2023 Smart Monitors, mouse and keyboard control functionality has been added to many apps, including Samsung SmartThings[6] and Smart Hub. This enables Australians to maintain full control, while exploring their favourite content without needing a remote.

The 2023 Smart Monitor line-up is also the first generation to offer Samsung’s My Contents – a new unique experience that allows Australians to quickly access helpful personal information such as photos, schedules and more. Acting as a personalised welcome screen, My Contents will activate when the monitor is on standby mode and detects a registered smartphone through Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). Automatically, the monitor’s screen will light up displaying curated content enabling users to get started on work or entertainment more immediately and more intuitively. The monitor resumes standby mode when the smartphone is out of range.

The hub of your smart home

Samsung’s 2023 line-up of Smart Monitors have also been enhanced to include SmartThings Hub built-in. This feature enables Australians to easily connect, control, and manage thousands of of compatible connected devices around their home from their Smart Monitor. Via the SmartThings App[7], users can turn off smart lights, adjust a connected thermostat, answer the door via their smart doorbell, and more, bringing new levels of convenience to the home. The Smart Monitor M8 and M7 also include built-in voice assistants, including Bixby and Amazon Alexa for easy voice control of the monitor. Far-field voice is also supported with a built-in mic, allowing users to speak directly to the monitor.
