Samsung presented with multiple awards for design excellence at the 2024 Good Design Awards

Continuing its mission to bring premium design and innovation into Australian homes, Samsung wins an impressive seven awards, including one notable “Good Design Award Gold”

 

Samsung Electronics Co,. Ltd. has today received recognition for seven of its products across consumer electronics and mobile experience range at the 2024 Australian Good Design Awards.

 

The Less Microfiber™  Filter has been awarded the Good Design Award Gold accolade for  demonstrating design excellence within the Domestic Appliances category. In addition, the Flex Door Oven with AI Camera and AI Family Hub™ French Door Refrigerator have received the Good Design Award Winner accolade for showcasing best product design in the domestic appliances category. Furthermore, the Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy Watch6 Classic, S95D OLED 4K Smart TV and Music Frame were recognised with the Good Design Award Winner accolade for best product design in the consumer electronics category.

 

In its 66th year, and as a pioneer in its field, Good Design Awards has historically showcased the best of design and innovation to a global audience, honouring ground-breaking, cutting edge designs that strive to bring further excellence to Australian homes.  As seven of Samsung’s consumer electronics innovations have been recognised at the 2024 Good Design Awards, this reinforces how Samsung is delivering innovations and solutions that not only meet the evolving needs of Australians but also exceed expectations in relation to design.

 

The 2024 Australians @ Home Report released by Samsung Electronics Australia highlights how Australian consumers are seeking more than just functionality, expecting technology that delivers real impact and a connected home experience. As technology continues to evolve with the advancements of Galaxy AI, seven of Samsung’s products have been acknowledged for building a human connection through design excellence and its product innovations.

Samsung Less Microfiber™ Filter – Winner: Good Design Gold Award (Domestic Appliances)

Easy to monitor and maintain, the Less Microfiber™ Filter can help capture up to 98%[1] of microfibers released during a standard wash cycle. By connecting with Samsung’s intelligent connectivity platform SmartThings, the filter can track how full it is from 0 to 100%, alerting users when cleaning or other troubleshooting is required via the SmartThings app[2]

 

  • Of the Less Microfiber™ Filter, the Good Design Award jury said:  “The Less Microfiber™ Filter is an external washing machine filter designed to capture up to 98% of microfibers released during wash cycles in select Samsung front load washers and combo units. Flex Door Oven with AI Camera – Winner: Good Design Award (Domestic Appliances)

Samsung’s Flex Door Oven with AI Camera allows you to cook two meals at once with the Dual Cook functionality, monitor food from your compatible smartphone[3], as well as capturing your cooking in video[4] so that you can share your cooking expertise with your friends and family. With an intuitive and modernised design that uses AI technology, consumers can enjoy a seamless cooking experience.

 

  • Of the Flex Door Oven with AI Camera, the Good Design Award jury said: “The Samsung Flex Door Oven with AI Camera combines advanced cooking technologies and usability enhancements to boost home chefs’ confidence. By focusing on user experience and energy efficiency, this oven sets a new benchmark for home cooking appliances.”

 

AI Family Hub™ French Door Refrigerator – Winner: Good Design Award (Domestic Appliances)

This refrigerator boasts a 21.5-inch screen that features the new AI Vision Inside[5], which uses an internal camera to recognise up to 33 different food items that are put into and taken out of the refrigerator and suggests recipes using those ingredients. Users can also set ‘use by dates’ on the AI Family Hub™ screen for food items, which then allows the refrigerator to send a notification when the set date draws near[6]; conveniently helping to save money by reducing food waste.

 

  • Of the AI Family Hub™ French Door Refrigerator, the Good Design Award jury said: “This refrigerator’s sophisticated technology and thoughtful design significantly impact how families manage food, showcasing a strategic approach to enhancing daily life through innovation.”

 

S95D OLED 4K Smart TV – Winner: Good Design Award (Consumer Electronics)

The S95D OLED 4K Smart TV utilises a unique display with the world’s first OLED Glare Free certification[7] and anti-reflection properties to help deliver optimal brightness and provide excellent picture quality with reduced glare – even in brightly lit rooms[8]. With over 8 million specially engineered self-illuminating pixels comprising three subpixels (Quantum Dot red and green, and OLED blue) and no white subpixels in sight; the Samsung S95D OLED is intensely cinematic[9].

 

  • Of the S95D OLED 4K Smart TV, the Good Design Award jury said: “Samsung’s latest OLED TV, featuring the world’s first OLED Glare Free certification in the new S95D,[10] sets a new standard in home entertainment. Designed to handle Australian conditions with enhanced contrast and reduced glare, the TV offers superior visual performance. The Jury admired the TV’s elegant, slim design and advanced screen technology, highlighting its ability to deliver a rich viewing experience with minimal distractions, showcasing Samsung’s ongoing innovation in display technology.”

 

Music Frame – Winner: Good Design Award (Consumer Electronics)

A stylish yet powerful standalone speaker that doubles as a picture frame. Disguised as a stylish picture frame, the Music Frame blends beautifully into virtually any space. The Music Frame disperses synchronised sound evenly throughout a wide area with six professionally calibrated speakers, enabling excellent audio quality to be heard. Your favourite music can be streamed through your mobile device to your Music Frame through Wifi[11] or Bluetooth connection in top audio quality.

 

  • Of the Music Frame, the Good Design Award jury said: “Samsung’s Music Frame redefines home audio with a design that merges premium sound quality with customisable art. Galaxy Z Flip6 – Winner: Good Design Award (Consumer Electronics)

The Galaxy Z Flip6 is designed with portability in mind, while also providing an array of innovative AI-powered camera and creativity options. With its 3.4-inch Super AMOLED FlexWindow display, users can enjoy hands-free photography with automatic zooming capabilities, as well as conveniently respond to text messages using suggested replies, powered by Galaxy AI.[12]

 

  • Of the Galaxy Z Flip6, the Good Design Award jury said: “The integration of a state-of-the-art camera system and elegant materials reinforces the device’s role as a premier tool for personal expression and functionality, setting a new benchmark for foldable smartphones.”

 

Galaxy Watch6 Classic – Winner: Good Design Award (Consumer Electronics)

Designed to help users build healthier habits every day and through the night[13], the Galaxy Watch6 classic[14] provides holistic wellness monitoring and powerful performance in a refined and sleek design, boasting a slimmer bezel, a larger and more vibrant display and more interactive user interface[15].

 

  • Of the Galaxy Watch6 Classic, the Good Design Award jury said: “The Galaxy Watch6 Classic offers advanced wellness features within a sleek, refined design. With a slimmer bezel, interactive user interface, and a significantly larger display, it supports users in building healthier habits. The Jury praised the watch’s classic design elements combined with modern technology, highlighting its effectiveness in blending tradition with innovation. The comprehensive wellness tracking and elegant aesthetics make this smartwatch a standout in both functionality and style.”

 

 

[1] Tested at Ocean Wise Plastics Lab on the WW90T734DWH Samsung washing machine model (using a Synthetic cycle, approximately 2kg load of synthetic textile laundry with no detergent, at 40℃, wash rate of 50 revolutions per minute (RPM), motor operation rate of 82% and a spin RPM of 1200). The 98% amount was calculated by filtering drain water which passed through the Less Microfiber™ Filter through a 50um stainless steel filter, and comparing it against drain water from a wash cycle without the filter installed. Actual results may vary, depending on the wash cycle, type of detergent and laundry materials.
