Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. announced the showcase of its new premium kitchen and lifestyle range as part of a continued drive for a connected home life at EuroCucina 2024. The event, held in Milan, is one of the largest international kitchen events and takes place from 16th to 21th April at Rho Fiera Milano. Samsung will use the event to display how connectivity among multiple appliances — as well as the innovative features of new built-in products — can change everyday home life.

Samsung’s booth at EuroCucina invites visitors to main zones which consist of the Bespoke AI[1] Built-in Kitchen, recently rolled-out in Australia. Also on display is the Premium Built-in-Kitchen, where three new built-in products will be unveiled for European lifestyles, and are packed with new innovative features.

The Expansion of the Connectivity Across Appliances

The journey at Samsung’s booth starts with the Bespoke AI[2] zone which demonstrates the expansion of the connectivity[3]. It includes the experience of connectivity existing not only in the kitchen, but also in the rest of the home, assisting users’ life to be simple and intuitive, less user input required at home.

The most important part is that the screens enable the appliances to connect with and control other devices, letting users enjoy heightened convenience through the SmartThings ecosystem.

For example, they feature SmartThings 3D Map View, a three-dimensional perspective of the home that locates connected Samsung appliances throughout the house. It streamlines operations such as turning off connected devices and checking their energy usage.

Various scenarios to the real life are ready at the zone as well. In a specific mode like SmartThings Energy Away mode, SmartThings can automatically power off the chosen, specific appliances and devices when users are out of home. Moreover it also introduces energy saving solutions based on SmartThings Energy.

The experience can make users do less while living with more possibilities. Through Calm Onboarding, Samsung lets users’ journey to SmartThings ecosystem more fluent from the beginning.

Built-in Products Cater to Diverse Lifestyles

Across the globe, including Australia, Samsung has further strengthened its brand position by launching built-in models including dishwashers, induction cooktops and ovens, as well as by introducing innovative features such as AI Pro Cooking. They feature AI-applied capabilities and upgraded functionality and provide consumers with great flexibility when configuring their built-in kitchens. The showcase at EuroCucina also takes places in the midst of Milan Design Week’s Fuorisalone 2024^[6] from April 16 to 21, where Samsung is also displaying its Newfound Equilibrium” exhibition. The exhibit is located at Le Cavallerizze, in the prestigious Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology in Milan, Italy. At the event, Samsung’s Corporate Design Center’s exhibition, “Newfound Equilibrium,” will showcase Samsung’s user-centered design philosophy, “Samsung Design Identity 5.0: Essential∙Innovative∙Harmonious.” A multi-sensory, experience with aim to inspire vision for a better future that encompasses the balance between people and technology. To make an impact on attendees, the exhibit will feature media art that awakens the senses — particularly sight, hearing and smell.

Samsung SmartThings brings better connectivity to the kitchen

Powered by Samsung’s SmartThings[6], the built-in-cooking range is complete with Wi-Fi connectivity to give Australians control and accuracy over their mealtime creations, further empowering the 7 in 10 Australians who already use technology whilst cooking in the kitchen.[7] Users can remotely monitor and control their compatible oven, cooktop, and range hood from their smartphone at the touch of a button, to ensure each meal is prepared as intended.

Working in conjunction with SmartThings, the oven’s integrated AI camera can also detect if food is burning and sends a notification to the user’s phone, offering them the option to turn down the temperature, or turn off the heat completely. A feature that will appeal to the 4 in 5 Australians who admitted the most common mistakes made when cooking is overcooking (43%) and burning food (32%). [8]

Built-in line simplifies cooking at home

In addition to mistakes made in the kitchen, a lack of time was the reason that almost half of Australians (46%) don’t cook at home. With 95% admitting to starting the week with the best intentions of cooking, but lost enthusiasm past Monday. In fact, 1 in 4 confessed to impulsively opting for the convenience of food delivery, despite planning to cook at home.[9]

SmartThings Maximises Energy Savings

Industry’s First Smart Home Energy Management Systems (SHEMS) Certification

The certification recognises smart home appliances and services that manage and automate connected devices to help consumers gain insights into their energy use, which is designed to inspire energy-saving behaviour, helping customers to reduce costs and facilitate demand response measures that minimise stress on the grid.

The USEPA has also awarded base model Samsung home appliances in the US 260 ENERGY STAR® certifications, including 43 “Most Efficient” recognitions^[8]. Helping Make Net Zero Homes a Reality – Offering Households the Ultimate in Energy Efficiency

To empower more people to enjoy energy independence at home, Samsung has unveiled the next phase of its net zero home initiative: the Smart City Project. Working with Sterling Ranch and its long-time technology partner Siemens, the Smart City Project will help establish Sterling Ranch as a master-planned sustainable housing community designed to house 30,000 residents in Littleton, Colorado.

SmartThings Energy will serve as the residents’ primary interactive app to monitor data, with Samsung appliances offering residents real-time insights on their energy, water and natural gas use. Throughout the community, solar panels and household batteries will produce and store energy, while energy-efficient appliances will help minimise power usage and monitor water use to help save resources. Tackling Microplastics Head-on With ‘Less Microfibre’ Technology

While reducing the impact of devices and homes is vital to creating a sustainable future, other clear and present risks to the environment demand our attention. For over a year, Samsung and Patagonia have been working together to address the challenge of microplastics shedding during the laundry process and polluting oceans and other bodies of water.

Samsung’s new Less Microfibre Cycle^[9] and Less Microfibre Filter^[10] are products of that collaboration. A breakthrough in the fight against microplastics, the Less Microfibre Cycle (currently available on overseas models only) can cut microplastic emissions by up to 54%^[11]. Now available in Europe, the cycle will roll out to compatible washers in Korea from February this year and in the US soon ^[12].

Tests carried out on overseas models such as the model featured above have found the Less Microfibre Cycle may reduce microplastic emissions by up to 54%^[11]. The availability of this product in Australia is yet to be confirmed.

Like the Less Microfibre Cycle (the availability of which is yet to be confirmed in Australia), Samsung and Patagonia’s newly developed washing machine filter has the potential to have an impact on the health of aquatic ecosystems. The Less Microfibre Filter helps to minimise microplastic emissions by preventing them from escaping into the ocean at the end of wash cycles. It will be available in select Samsung washing machines in Australia and Europe beginning in the second half of 2023.

World-Class Object Recognition and AI-Powered Driving

BESPOKE Jet Bot AI+ comes with an active stereo-type 3D sensor, which accurately scans a wide area[1] to avoid small, hard-to-detect objects on the floor. Its 3D depth camera – equivalent to 256,000 distance sensors – can precisely detect obstacles as small[2] as 1cm. This innovative object detection helps prevent the unit from getting stuck on small obstacles in its cleaning path.

BESPOKE Jet Bot AI+ is also equipped with an Intel AI solution, which powers its Jet AI Object Recognition technology. The smart solution allows the robot to navigate with accuracy by recognising not only the objects on the floor, but also appliances and furniture[3]. The robot’s smart decision-making helps to ensure users can have their unit clean closely around items such as children’s toys while maintaining a safe distance from delicate objects like porcelain vases[4]. It can also classify items such as pet waste, glass cups, and electrical cables as dangerous or likely to cause secondary contamination in order to avoid them.

BESPOKE Jet Bot AI+ is even equipped with a LiDAR Sensor that calculates its location precisely to optimise its cleaning path by repeatedly scanning the room[5] to gather distance information. This technology works well in dark areas such as low-lit rooms or below furniture so the unit can cover a larger area.

Powerful Clean From Start to Finish

Users can clean their homes thoroughly with advanced technologies that enable powerful cleaning. Jet Bot AI+’s Digital Inverter Motor maximises the suction power for a deep clean. Furthermore, with its Intelligent Power Control function, the new robot vacuum can even identify the type and amount of dust on the surface to automatically adjust its suction power.

BESPOKE Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a host of hygiene-related functionalities that enable effortless floor cleaning while ensuring that dust is securely trapped and not likely to be released back into the air. Its Advanced 5 Layered Filtration system traps up to 99.99%[6] of micro dust, including 0.5~4.2µm sized particles that can easily escape. All parts and filters are washable to maintain hygiene.

Users can control and monitor the BESPOKE Jet Bot AI+ remotely using the SmartThings app[10] on their compatible smartphones. The robot vacuum can be scheduled to clean selectively in either a single room or multiple rooms with the ‘Select & Go’ function. The app can also be used to custom-define virtual No-Go Zones to prevent the unit from entering certain areas without the need for physical barriers.

The smart robot also offers Bixby voice recognition capabilities[11], meaning users can use voice commands to schedule cleaning sessions, change modes or even ask for the latest information such as news or weather updates.

Furthermore, with Live Cleaning Report, users can easily track the movement of their BESPOKE Jet Bot AI+ on a virtual map of their homes in real time. Users can see where it has cleaned, and even pause it or instruct it to stop cleaning. Once it has completed cleaning, users can check its cleaning history to see which areas have been cleaned, how long it took, and which path it followed.

Moreover, users can monitor their home remotely with the BESPOKE Jet Bot AI+’s Patrol Mode, which uses the unit’s front camera to livestream video images through the SmartThings app. The Patrol Mode allows users to monitor the status of rooms they want to check while away, and even lets them enjoy this feature through scheduling. The smart unit also supports end-to-end encryption, so video clips are secure and can only be viewed by an authorised user.

Intuitive Pet Care for the Modern Pet Parent

Pet owners can take advantage of the BESPOKE Jet Bot AI+’s features to check in and care for their pets while pet owners are out of the house via the SmartThings Pet service. SmartThings Pet Service[12] can stream a live feed from Jet Bot AI+’s front camera and can detect your pet’s movement[13] so users can see that their pets are safe and happy. Samsung Electronics Australia has introduced two new air purifiers, the BESPOKE Cube AX53 and BESPOKE Cube AX70, which are available now in selected Harvey Norman stores and the Samsung online store.

BESPOKE Cube Air Purifiers have been designed with ease of use and home aesthetics in mind. Offering a HEPA filtration system that removes up to 99.97 percent of 0.3㎛ ultra-fine dust[1], is virtually silent and gives consumers the convenience to monitor and control air quality while at home or remotely with WiFi control and the SmartThings mobile app[2]. To keep your clothes fresh and ready for any occasion, Bespoke AirDresser’s Sanitise function uses powerful JetSteam^TM to steam and refresh your garments. Infusing high temperature heat deep into the fabric, the JetSteam system reduces up to 99.9% of certain bacteria and helps remove house dust mites and certain odour-causing gases to refresh linens,[3]  bedding and even baby clothes and soft toys.

Bespoke AirDresser also uses a Deodorising Filter that helps remove up to 99% of certain odour-causing gases including those from sweat, tobacco and food.[3] Made of ceramic, which works effectively even in humid and damp conditions, the filter breaks down odour-causing particles to help prevent unpleasant smells from building up inside the device.

The Bespoke AirDresser can also help maintain the condition of the rest of your wardrobe without an extra dehumidifier. By leaving the door open, the Dehumidification function is able to draw in air from the room and extract moisture from it, expelling dry air to help protect clothes from mould.

Adding to the convenience of the Bespoke AirDresser, Wrinkle Care saves you the time and effort of ironing your clothing before those big life events and occasions.
