Samsung India’s service centres across India have gone paperless as part of a global initiative to offer customers an eco-conscious alternative to paper documents through a new global integrated system, strengthening its commitment to developing sustainable practices.

More than 11,000 service centers in 180 countries operated by 40 Samsung Electronics subsidiaries around the world will first adopt the system. This includes India.

At the service centres in India, all documents that were previously issued to customers on paper are now being shared with them over email and WhatsApp, in the process saving 1.5 million A4 sized sheets of paper a month. This also includes replacing internal office work documents at service centres with electronic documents.

The pilot project that was kicked off in July 2021 across the country has so far saved over 16 million A4 sheets of paper.

Apart from the savings in paper usage, what this means for customers is faster transactions at the Samsung service centres and contact-less exchange between consumers and service executives.

“Our service centres across India now follow paperless operations that offer an eco-conscious alternative. This also brings in convenience for customers as it reduces transaction time and they no longer need to take care of physical documents,” said Sunil Cutinha, Vice President, Customer Service, Samsung India.

To facilitate the worldwide change towards paperless documentation, Samsung has upgraded its global service system, the Global Service Partner Network (GSPN), which will allow for electronic documentation to be sent to customers about each aspect of service they receive through an interface supported by various digital communications services around the globe. Through this significant change, Samsung’s customers will gain convenient access to their service-related information and be part of an initiative to protect the environment at the same time.

Through the global campaign, Samsung expects that approximately 6 million liters of water,¹ will be saved each year. In addition, nearly 526 tons of carbon emissions² will be reduced, which can be translated into the amount of carbon absorbed by 61,000 30-year-old pine trees in a year.³

Team IGNITE 2022 poses as Upamanyu takes a selfie

Forty-two young graduates from India’s top B-schools have begun their summer internship with Samsung India at its corporate headquarters in Gurugram.

After two years of almost everything online, they had bright smiles on their faces when they walked into the office, glad that they will be able to experience their workspaces, bond with colleagues, and sit in for “meetings”.

The two-month-long summer internship program – Samsung IGNITE (Inspiring Growth & Nurturing Interns Towards Excellence) started with a fun-filled two-day induction which involved interacting with the senior leadership at Samsung India.

Leaders from across Samsung India will help these interns from IIM-Lucknow, IIM-Kozhikode, IIM-Bangalore, IIM-Ahmedabad, XLRI-Jamshedpur, MDI-Gurgaon and FMS-Delhi to work on real-time projects within various verticals of the company.

“IGNITE is all about generating that spark, awakening that eagerness and nurturing raw talent to produce magnificent results,” said Sameer Wadhawan, Head, Human Resources at Samsung India.

One of the interns, Madhu Kumari, a student of IIM-Ahmedabad, who is from Varanasi, said she has always dreamt of an opportunity like this and is super excited about the internship.

“We have literally lived a virtual life these last two years. I am so glad I am getting to attend a physical office and it is going to be a lot of fun,” she said.

During the induction, Madhu and the 41 other interns got a deep insight into Samsung and its journey from a Noodle exporter in 1938 to a technology giant today. They were excited to meet interns from last year and connect with Samsung leaders even as they explored growth opportunities for themselves in the company.

“I was a little nervous at first but right now this internship is turning out to be way more exciting than I expected. It’s amazing how 42 of us have been made to interact with each other,” said Piya Dutta, who hails from Delhi and studies at XLRI, Jamshedpur.

“This is so inspiring and fun. I also suddenly feel so responsible,” she said.

The interns are looking forward to an exciting and fruitful two months at Samsung.

EcoBubble

Samsung’s Eco Bubble technology uses a bubble generator to dissolve detergent into the water and then inject air, producing a rich soapy foam cushion that penetrates 40 times faster. With less mechanical actions and bubble cushion, the technology provides 45% extra fabric care. The softer and smoother bubble action protects delicate clothes such as outdoor wear and water repellent fabrics. Eco Bubble ensures the detergent is properly dissolved into the water leading to faster penetration into clothes. The Super Eco Wash program washes at just 15°C, with the results of a 40°C wash, using just 30% of the energy as a result.

QuickDrive

QuickDrive has been designed to provide entirely new levels of washing performance. Auto Dispense

Auto Dispense enables you to wash clothes thoroughly with less time and effort. It automatically dispenses the appropriate amount of detergent and softener for each load, saving 26% of detergent and 46% of softener. The easy to refill detachable tank can hold enough detergent for up to 1 month of washing.

AddWash

AddWash lets the user add extra items or detergent after the wash cycle has started. One can add forgotten items, additional softener and rinse-only items anytime during a cycle.

Hygiene Steam

Hygiene Steam deep cleans clothes by releasing steam from the bottom of the drum and making the laundry thoroughly saturated. Hygiene Steam removes ingrained grime and 99.9% of bacteria and allergen. In the hygiene steam cycle, first the water, soil and detergent is drained out. Second, it gets a small amount of clean water to make steam. Then the built-in heater boils water for 20 minutes. After the steam phase, it drains the water and starts rinsing and finally proceeds to the next washing process to complete the cycle.

Digital Inverter Technology

DIT utilizes strong magnets for a quieter and more powerful performance, but uses less energy as compared to a Universal Motor with brush. It doesn’t use brushes that wear out, and is built using high quality components and outstanding mechanical engineering. This is backed-up by a 10-year warranty that guarantees the long life of your washing machine.

Drum Clean/ Drum Clean +

Drum Clean allows one to keep dirt and bacteria out of your washer without using any chemicals. It removes 99.9% of bacteria from the inside of the washer and removes dirt from the rubber gasket.
