[Interview] CU Kim, CEO of Samsung SEAO, Outlines AI Strategy

Australia on September 9, 2025

In a recent interview, CU Kim, the President and CEO of Samsung Electronics for Southeast Asia and Oceania (SEAO), outlined the company’s approach to AI in the region.

Samsungs “AI for All” strategy is focused on democratizing the technology to make it accessible to a wider audience. In fact, 77% of SEAO users of Galaxy AI-powered devices are already using the features. These include Circle to Search with Google, Best Face, and translation tools that are particularly useful in such a linguistically diverse region. Additionally, many Galaxy AI features can function on-device, independently of the cloud a vital capability when internet connectivity may be limited.

Beyond mobile products, Samsung is integrating AI into its entire device ecosystem via the SmartThings platform, which creates personalized smart home experiences. A recent survey showed that 9 out of 10 youths in Southeast Asia are incorporating AI into their daily lives, with many taking concrete steps to learn related skills in the belief the technology will create new job opportunities. For businesses, Samsungs growth strategy in the SEAO region is centered on leveraging AI to help them leapfrog legacy systems and build intelligent, efficient and customer-focused environments through SmartThings Pro.

Looking ahead, Samsung is focused on innovations that empower communities from advancing mobile gaming to creating AI-driven smart living environments through Samsung Health and SmartThings.
