Samsung Tops Android Smartphone Sales at BCN AWARD 2026
Japan on January 19, 2026

Samsung Electronics has secured the No. 1 position in annual sales volume in the Android smartphone category at BCN AWARD 2026, reaffirming its strong market presence in Japan. The recognition was based on cumulative sales performance throughout 2025 and highlights Samsung’s continued competitiveness across a broad smartphone portfolio.
The BCN AWARD is determined using the BCN Ranking, which aggregates actual point-of-sale information collected from approximately 2,350 major electronics retailers, computer specialty stores, and online shops across Japan. The evaluation covered the full period from January 1 to December 31, 2025, ensuring that the results reflected sustained sales momentum rather than short-term performance.

Samsung’s top ranking was driven by the strength and diversity of its Galaxy smartphone lineup. Key contributors included Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7, Samsung’s latest generation of foldable smartphones that combine advanced design and camera performance with AI-powered features. Notably, Galaxy Z Fold7 is the thinnest and lightest horizontally folding smartphone ever released in Japan.
The Galaxy S25 series also played a central role in Samsung’s performance, positioning itself as a next-generation AI smartphone lineup that was the first to incorporate an AI agent. Additionally, Galaxy A25 5G supported Samsung’s sales volume with its large display and accessibility, catering to users focused on video consumption and social media use.
