[Italy] Samsung Italy and Domus Academy Award Navi, an AI Device That Detects Misinformation

As part of the Samsung Innovation Campus program, Samsung Electronics Italy and Domus Academy recently launched a creative competition challenging students to reimagine the everyday potential of AI. First place went to Navi, an AI device developed by Javiera Bakic, Ekin Yuksel and Shane Bana that is capable of detecting misinformation while promoting critical thinking. Navi analyzes digital content, compares it with fact-checking databases and provides real-time feedback — promoting critical thinking, media literacy and the ethical use of AI in the process.

The 2024-2025 Samsung Solve for Tomorrow competition in the Czech Republic and Slovakia celebrated student innovations aimed at solving real-world problems with technology. First place went to students who created a prototype of an AI rescue drone for use by firefighters to save lives. Second place went to an interactive AI app designed to reduce food waste and improve school cafeteria menus. Third place, meanwhile, was awarded to an indoor navigation app designed to help users find their way in large buildings.

[India] A Path Back to School: Samsung Employees Support the Education of Underprivileged Children

In partnership with the Indian branch of Save the Children (Bal Raksha Bharat), Samsung Electronics India employees carried out a unique CSR program to send 200 children back into classrooms with the Nanum Kiosk initiative. As an effort to fundraise across Samsung offices, employees can tap their ID card on the Nanum Kiosk to contribute a fixed amount to support underprivileged children. Samsung also hosted a special recognition ceremony for children who, after completing a bridge course with Save the Children, were admitted into public schools.

[U.K.] U.K. Youth Name Online Safety and Cost of Living as Top Concerns, Research From Samsung Finds

New research from Samsung Electronics has revealed that young people aged 11 to 15 in the United Kingdom are most concerned about the rising cost of living (61%) and online safety (47%) as they approach adulthood, with nearly three-quarters worried about the future. Despite 81% wanting to make a positive impact on the world, less than half of the 1,000 surveyed feel prepared by their education to address societal challenges. The findings come as Samsung launches this years Solve for Tomorrow Next Gen challenge, which empowers students in the U.K. to design tech-for-good solutions under the theme Living Well: Tech for a Happier, Healthier World.

[Indonesia] Young Innovators Shape Samsung Indonesia’s Locally Inspired Technologies

Three young professionals at Samsung Electronics Indonesia are driving innovations tailored to local Indonesian culture. Alishia Gozal and the Product Marketing Department led the Nusantara x Hangul Galaxy Wraps project and helped Galaxy AI in the Indonesian language reach a wider consumer base. At Samsung R&D Institute Indonesia, Siti Muslimah and her colleagues have been conducting extensive research on Indonesian speech patterns, accents and cultural nuances to continuously improve Galaxy AIs ability to meet local needs. Product Marketing Manager Mutiara Ramadhani and her teams analysis of consumer behavior, meanwhile, played a key role in the development of the Ungkep Compartment, a special soft freezing storage space in select Samsung Bespoke refrigerators.
