Bloc Hotel partners with Samsung to bring the hotelier experience to the next level!

Samsung provides highly efficient air conditioning solutions to Bloc hotel located just a few minutes from Gatwick airport!

The unique partnership between Samsung UK and BLOC Hotels it is said to be ‘the first deal of its kind in the hotel industry.’ (Steve May, editor of Inside CI).

Through this project, BLOC Hotels asked Samsung to provide a total solution for the 245 bedrooms located in their newly refurbished buildings at the Gatwick airport. The aim was to provide guests with total control of the facilities in their room such as the air conditioning system, display screens, telephones, and lighting.

Samsung’s answer to the challenge represents a first step towards the future of building services. Not only can all the electrical devices in the guest rooms be controlled from a single Samsung tablet, Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, but the check-in/out operations can also be managed from the same tablet. Essentially, ‘BLOC hotels are trialing new smartphone technology that won’t just open a door, but will do pretty much anything you want during a hotel stay except make you a club sandwich.’(ZDNet.com).

The hotel has received excellent reviews on Trip Advisor and Booking.com. The guests were especially impressed with the technology Samsung has to offer. According some reviews on the websites, ‘the touch screen that gives control over lights and air conditioning is very pleasant to use’.

Bloc Hotels were very impressed with the solution proposed by Samsung. 15 DVM Plus IV Heat Recovery VRF systems were chosen for their flexibility in providing simultaneous heating and cooling. 245 slim line ducted units were selected to fit within the over door bulkhead, so they do not intrude on the chic bedroom design.
