[CES 2012] PROFESSIONAL PERFORMANCE AND VERSATILITY WITH NEW SERIES 9 MONITOR
Samsung Electronics today introduced a new generation of premium monitors with its visually striking Series 9 monitor. With over five years of global market share leadership, the new Series 9 monitor incorporates the best that Samsung has to offer, including its exclusive professional-grade Plane Line Switching (PLS) panel technology, which provides a richer viewing experience for discerning consumers working with photos and video content.
Pro-Grade Panel; Premium Picture Quality
The Series 9 monitor features Samsung’s exclusive professional-grade Plane Line Switching (PLS) panel technology. This offers accurate color reproduction achieving 100 percent of the sRGB color spectrum, reproducing over one billion colors that can been viewed at wide horizontal and vertical angles. Featuring an ultra crisp, quad high-definition (QHD) resolution (2560 x 1440), four times higher than that of a conventional HD monitor, the Series 9 monitor now provides professional capabilities to the consumer, regardless of the user’s application. With more and more consumers delving into photo and video editing and graphic design for personal use, the Series 9 monitor allows them to comfortably manage editing applications without having to worry about screen real-estate or overlapping windows and palettes.
With customization and attention to detail in mind, the new Series 9 monitor utilizes Samsung’s new Natural Color Engine for maximum panel performance. This includes hardware color calibrations within the monitor to ensure there is no displayable loss of tonalities on screen. This feature shows colors as they were intended to be seen, more than one billion to be exact, creating a more immersive experience and making sure that memories taken with a digital camera or camcorder stand out in vivid detail. This feature is enhanced by Samsung engineers who tune the colors in every Series 9 monitor by hand in the final stage of production.
Elegant Styling and Support Features
Designed to look as good as the images it reproduces, the designers integrated the Series 9 monitor’s display to appear as if it is effortlessly floating in mid-air. It features an anti-glare edge-to-edge glass display and a super slim profile built on an ergonomic height-adjustable aluminum stand. The Series 9 monitor incorporates an adjustment range that offers a fluid 3.94 inches of vertical movement and a tilt feature that allows users to simply angle the display to their desired viewing position.
All of the Series 9 monitor’s internal components have been moved to a round aluminum base, which features all I/O ports and a USB hub which provides users with a streamlined installation and helps to keep work areas clear of cable clutter. It also supports DisplayPort, Dual Link-DVI and HDMI video connections and features built-in 7W stereo speakers and a Mobile High Definition Link (MHL) for MHL-enabled smartphones and tablets.
By linking their Android MHL-compatible smartphone, users can enjoy content from their mobile devices directly on the much larger screen and with the benefit of rich, built-in stereo audio. Users can also keep an eye on their smartphone, seamlessly browse to it and even charge the device for added convenience.
With the addition of the Series 9 to its already impressive repertoire of monitors, there’s no sign of Samsung slowing down in the monitor market.
The new 27-inch Series 9 monitor (S27A970) will be shown for the first time at Samsung’s press conference at the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on January 9, 2012.
